My daughter started taking dance classes about 5 years ago. We were at another local dance studio taking ballet classes but then she got an instructor she did not like — frankly I didn’t think much of her; she did not have the body of an older dancer but an overweight average mom(sorry, you kinda want your dance teacher to look like they could do an arabesque) — unfortunately that instructor took over all the young ballet dance classes so there was no escape. Not wanting her to kill my daughter’s enthusiasm for ballet, we switched to PSPA. It was the smartest thing we did. We’ve been at PSPA for 4 years and it has been great. Tita, the owner, still teaches classes and keeps the studio family friendly. There is a diversity of classes and all the teachers we have had are great. Studio fees are on par to other studios but you can pay monthly or quarterly, check or credit card. The costume recital fees are reasonable which is so helpful when your child has multiple dance classes. As a mom, I am so happy that the costumes are age appropriate — no crop tops for tots — no one wants to see their young daughter resemble something from the Vegas strip. The studio is continuing to grow and change to try to fit the demands of the students. Their website isn’t always current but it does have a fair amount of information. Typically the office is not staffed in the morning but I’ve always gotten a call back or email to answer my question. There are two studio locations — one in Lunada Bay and one across from the PV main library so there is a diversity of offerings and days/times available. Both locations are quite old since they are in old buildings but its functional. They’ve added more male/boys dance classes so it’s nice to see young men encouraged to dance. While most of the dancers are not professionally bound, many do competitions and teams. However, there are dancers that do go on to professional level. My son’s friend got a great foundation here before she went on to a more intense venue. While I don’t see my daughter having the innate talent to become a prima ballerina, her love of dancing is nurtured here and she enjoys PSPA immensely — what more could I ask for. They also have an active parent group that helps fund raise to offset production costs for performances and recitals.

I was a part of PSPA from childhood to adulthood. The owner is really nice and tries her best to accommodate all students as well as personalize ALL sign up sheets for each child. Being involved is an extremely light term. The Ballet program is amazing and quite a few dancers go on to become professionals in dance or something within performing arts. They now have a PSPA dance team which competes at competitions and performs. The Jazz program is awesome and the teachers all are professionals. All the Jazz instructors are top notch! This isn’t Hollywood, this is a local dance studio where beginners are welcome and advanced dancers are welcome!

I took classes here and was a part of this studio for 6 years. It was helpful that it was in my hometown, and so I knew a lot of the people in my classes from school. The staff are all really friendly and nice, and they genuinely want to see you succeed and improve. They offer instruction in ballet, lyrical, tap, jazz, and hip hop. They also have a ballet company, Dance Peninsula Ballet, that has given birth to great ballet dancers. I was part of their hiphop competition team, but that’s not part of this studio anymore. They also have a competitive and performing tap and jazz team. I personally never took tap here because the teacher was a bit… let’s say, not as nice as the others, but I loved lyrical, jazz, and hip hop. This was the place that really helped shape the dancer that I am today.
