I’ve suffered from chronic low back pain for years. For two previous acute problems, I’ve consulted physical therapists, and for several years I have been seeing another chiropractor. I’ve gotten some relief, but I can always feel the stiffness, muscles tightening up just an hour or two after using the foam roller… the problems just waiting to flare up again and prevent me from particpating in the athletic activities I love. About two months ago, a friend referred me to Therese, and told me that even though I was already seeing a Chiropractor, it was worth a try to see if she could help me. She has a background not only in Chiropractic care, but also Physical Therapy. Therese was immediately able to diagnose my alignment problems without the aid of x-rays. She showed me how certain muscles had deactivated to try and protect my spine while other muscles were tight and overworked trying to pull my body into balance. After the adjustment, I could feel the difference just walking, and overnight my tight muscles started to finally relax. She even figured out and is correcting the shoulder injury that has been plaguing me for the last year! Each visit, she checks progress and only does adjustments as needed to correct specific alignment problems. Her treatment goal is to eliminate, or at least minimized the need for future visits. I showed her the exercises that the physical therapists had prescribed, and she told me they were the wrong ones for me. My back was strong, but my abs were weak. She corrected my posture and showed me the exercises I needed to doing. She even discusses form issues to watch out for during workouts that may be aggrivating my shoulder, back and knee problems. For the first time in years, I have hope that the constant battle against my lower back pain can actually be won!
