I saw Dr. Thai for three months as a medical doctor(i.e. as a prescribing psychiatrist, not a therapist/psychoanalyst that he also is). I had been through many psychiatrists and he is by far the best. He has developed very clear rules and boundaries to guide his relationships with patients. For instance, if you call a lot between sessions, you need to be seen more often(makes sense). If your pharmacy calls for a refill, Dr. Thai ignores the call because he only writes a prescription to you personally while in session(makes sense because a patient needs to be examined before the medication regimen is continued). This is so refreshing. This is so unlike other doctors. I lucked out on Dr Thai: he was the only doctor to respond from my Blue Shield’s preferred provider list. For the first two sessions he was taking notes non-stop; he did not look at me. I did not like it and was almost ready to leave, but, luckily, decided to give him another try. It turned out that in all sessions outside the intake(when he collects information taking copious notes) he looked at me almost all the time. He helped me though sleep issues and anxiety. Over time, he came up with an effective mix of medications. He monitored me very closely. The medication mix cleared bipolar mania that used to be a mainstay in my life, causing destruction after destruction. I only wish I had discovered Dr Thai 5, 10 years ago when my life could have been still saved from destruction. I also saw Dr Thai just once in the capacity of a psychotherapist. It quickly became apparent that he is the best of countless therapists I had seen thus far; he has the strongest power of interpretation and insight. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to see Dr Thai for therapy for now; maybe later. I do feel that this initial test-drive gives me enough knowledge to recommend Dr Thai to fellow Unilocalers for therapy. 5 stars to Dr Thai. How I wish we had met earlier…
