A good place for happy hour. They have a number of wines and beers to choose from and also a few appetizers. When I went it was nice and quiet and a good place to do some work with a glass of wine whilst waiting for friends. They have free wifi, plenty of seating and a few screens playing sports, so a good place to meet friends after work or before going for dinner. Close to a lot of restaurants and lots of parking nearby.

I went for the first time a couple of weeks ago thanks to the Euro expats meetup group I belong to. This is a way to discover new places(for me) in the area and interact with other people with similar interests and background. I found Scotty’s to be the perfect gathering place and I enjoyed my couple of hours there sharing drinks and conversations. Te waiters are super friendly and also we could all be at the door occupying some expensive Palo Alto land keeping our talk outside the noise.

I’ve been here twice, once near closing for a Moscow Mule and another time during Happy Hour. The first time was great. It was practically empty on a Tuesday night, and we didn’t know what to get. The bartender suggested the Moscow Mule, a popular drink in the area. It was delicious! The bartender wrapped up the evening, and did not make us feel rushed at all. The other time was for happy hour. The place was packed five seconds after we arrived, but not before I could get the drink special of the day, a $ 5 stoli blueberry and soda. I had originally ordered the Twisted Old Vine Zin, but the bartender couldn’t find it. Our group easily found seats, and the décor and lighting were great, definitely not a dive.

Scotty’s seems to be a dive bar that wanted to be something classier by redecorating. The result is an okay bar where you can sip a lager or wine with your friends, though their table setting seems a bit awkward. Their drinks are slightly overpriced, but definitely decent. If only the place had more of an ambiance, it would probably have been a three.

It’s alright good to start out if you don’t want to go to a large establishment.

Came here thinking the night before Thanksgiving would not be crowded. Wrong! Way crowded, however stopped in after dinner for some drinks. The bartenders here are awesome! So friendly and very accommodating. We got the bill and were SHOCKED! $ 23 for 5 beers and 3 glasses of cab, are you kidding me!!! Had we known that we would have kept drinking and took über home! Um, yes we most definitely will be back and thank you!!!

We came on a gameday and the ambiance was electric. There was only one bartender working but she attended to us quickly. We were really disappointed in the food here. The chopped Caesar salad was just a traditional Caesar salad with lettuce that the chef didn’t dry before applying dressing. The 12″ pizza was amazingly small. In fact, it was the same diameter as my Racer 5 bottle which was less than 10″. Overall disappointed and will not be coming back.

Generous pours of liquor. I am pretty buzzed after one drink. They should have one more bar tender as there is only woman attending to everyone and although she can handle it well, I think it’s overwhelming.

Came here after finding out that Rudy’s has shut down, and not just recently, but two years ago! Apparently, I haven’t been to downtown PA for quite some time now. This place was overly stuffy, they didn’t turn on the AC until an hour after we had entered the establishment. The drinks were mediocre. I had ordered a Moscow Mule, due to my love of ginger beer and it was not good. But I do commend the bartender, who manages the entire bar by herself.

Great late night spot. I love especially when Scotty is behind the bar. Decent beer selection, great cocktails. Kinda pricey but whatever.

Randi had the sweetest disposition, and definitely holds the bar down well by herself. The attention to tables is a little absent, but the food is delicious and prepared in a timely manner. My friend and I had the broiled salmon($ 19) and the chicken sandwich($ 11), and we found the quality to be great and portions plenty. The music was a good selection of contemporary pop hits and the ambience seemed to heighten when the«crowds» came in(though didn’t seem to fill the house…) The only thing holding the star ratings back is the staff presence. Randi is sweet, but the one or two others that appeared from nowhere seemed uninterested and only delivered the food in silence. If their skills are in the kitchen, then this venue could do well with some hospitality staff members(or help for Randi)!

Service was stellar for one girl man-ing the entire bar and restaurant. The beer selection is poor, the food is mediocre at best, but the patrons are a fun time. This seems like a meet up for early 50’s and 40-somethings after they get done at work… and by work I mean driving to the bar since they are retired. At least that is how it has been the last few times I have been there. There is always room and their happy hour prices are pretty sweet. I’ve tried all the happy hour food, the nachos and wings being the highlight! I would come back if I wanted a cocktail during happy hour, some scrumptious cheap wings, or a less live venue for a lonesome beer or four.

Randi is quickly becoming a Palo Alto bar icon! «Wo“manning the fort at Scotty’s, she did an excellent job hosting my sisters birthday. Even though she was inundated with an unreasonably large crowd by anyone standards, let alone the sleepy town of PA. I hope she is running the joint the next time I visit.

My friend and I wandered in here on a Friday night and were pleasantly surprised by how friendly and nice the atmosphere was. We split a pizza, which was really good, and got a nice wine recommendation from the bartender. It wasn’t too crowded or loud, and seemed to have a great menu. Worth a stop, and I’m looking forward to a second visit!

Seems like a very nice dive bar. They serve food albeit its a lil pricey but the taste isnt bad. They have some cocktails on the list, but I dont think any were especially great/creative. They have a decent selection of beer but nowhere near as craft as I would like it. Food: Sliders– You get three of em. Mmm theyre decent in size and you get a side of fries. 12 bux is a lil pricey but not over the top. Wasnt particularly tender/juicy but it was definitely adequate. Ribeye Cheesesteak– So not sure what happened here… My vegeterian friend ordered a grilled cheese and i guess they misheard us and we got this. This was actually pretty bomb. I wouldnt say $ 14 bomb but probably $ 10 bomb lol. But if you have to eat here… id probably get this again. Overall, i dont think anything really wowed me. Its a decent bar but not a place id come all the way to palo alto for.

It should be noted that the only reason we went here is because I was craving a Moscow Mule and Unilocal said Scotty’s had it. So I dragged my boyfriend here and was not disappointed. The Moscow Mule was on point, but then again not hard to make. The food was yummy, and the atmosphere was mellow and laid back. I would come back Food: they had a good variety of happy hour(3 – 6) food dishes. The items ranged from fries, sliders, wings, nachos etc. We ended up getting the nachos which were super delicious and filling. Drinks: They had a good deal on beer, wine, and well drinks(5ish) for happy hour. They had speciality drinks too but they were quite a bit more(8 – 10). My Moscow Mule was a speciality drink. Staff: it is a small place so there was only one bartender. She was as attentive as she could be since she was so short handed, but she was always super polite and helpful.

Love me some Scottys! This unassuming little bar has one of the BEST happy hours in downtown Palo Alto(7pm!). It’s actually pretty reasonable for non– HH too, so you can eat drink, and be merry to your hearts content at any hour of the day, without breaking the bank. — Full bar — Very chill — Decent food — Their one and only bartender(sorry hon, I can never remember your name) is super accommodating and pretty good at handling the crowds by her lonesome(mad props) Totally agree with Allison M’s description — a little upscale for a youngish crowd who wants to drink and munch without the pretentiousness of Palo Alto or the nutshells of the nuthouse.

Good, balanced mix of bar food, wines, and cocktails– caters exactly to an upscale but youngish clientele who are looking to turn happy hour into dinner but don’t want to drink beer while stepping on peanut shells. For food, we tried the nachos and the quesadilla which were both great, with the nachos even on the healthy side. Nice to not have a total gut buster alongside a nice glass of prosecco, which I also thoroughly enjoyed! This was a great place to celebrate my friend’s exciting professional achievement on a weekday evening. I would come back, no question, for a similar sort of occasion another time!

What can I say … This has been my #1 happy hour spot for many many many years! Cats out the bag… So now I’ll put this place on blast! Food is yummy, at least everything I’ve ordered I happy hour has been great. I personally like the nachos, the cheese is the best. My second favorite is the bruschetta. You can’t beat Happy hour, especially in PA. Half off appetizers like bruschetta, hot wings, quesadilla, and Italian sausages and more! 3 $ Well drinks(which are not too shabby) and food 3 – 6 $ delicious appetizers! Stacie is the amazing bartender whenever I stop by… She is there with a smile! Dinner menu is also available if you need more to eat! Cheers to Scotty’s!

as a frequent visitor to downtown PA, i had walked by this bar many a time and seen their happy hour menu adorning the front window. unfortunately, each time i walked by, it was either way before or after happy hour. so when i was asked to select a venue for happy hour with my two girlfriends, i did not hesitate to suggest scotty’s. here’s the skinny on their HH, which runs daily from 4.30−6.30 pm: **$ 3 well drinks **$ 3 bottled beer **$ 5 wine glasses **half off all appetizers **rotating drink specials we arrived a tad before 4.30 since we were eager, and as expected, it was pretty quiet inside, as we were the first customers. personally, i’m a fan of quietness as it allows for better conversation, without me straining my ears or getting a headache from the excessive noise! we ordered the following appetizers: 1. taco trio: 1 beef + 1 shrimp + 1 chicken with a side of salsa, guacamole and iceberg lettuce. didn’t try the beef, but shrimp and chicken were good, fresh. salsa and guacamole were ok. since my husband and i frequent authentic mexican restaurants, we can usually distinguish between salsa and guacamole that is excellent vs those that are just average. 2. shrimp ceviche with side of chips: the shrimp aspect was very good, definitely mixed in well with the remaining ingredients. the tortilla chips were standard. again, i’ve had crispy with just-the-right-amount-of-oil tortilla chips elsewhere, so these were just ok. 3. chicken quesadilla: generous portion of chicken with ooey gooey cheese, garnished with fresh peppers and onions, sandwiched in a flour tortilla. total food bill? $ 14.50 to split between the 3 of us. can’t complain about the prices! especially in downtown PA! i ordered a glass of white wine to swish down the apps, but for the life of me i can’t remember which wine i chose! it was very good though as i still remember the crisp, cool notes of apple in my mouth. my two friends each ordered cocktails, and having taken a sip of each of theirs, i can definitely say that their mixed drinks are STRONG! one sip sent me to the moon! good thing i ordered the wine, else i’d have had trouble driving home after! overall, drinks were good, definitely on the strong side, but the food was very average, nothing special, i’m afraid. it did get really loud around 6pm, and quite full inside, which made for difficult conversation, so that is when my girls and i wrapped it up, asked for the check and headed out. for the happy hour prices alone, i would definitely return. and if i’m not the designated driver, i will definitely order one of the stiff cocktails next time!
