I have been running with clubs for the past 20+ years since I was a teenager so I know a little bit about ‘em. I moved here about 1.5 years ago and as per my usual, I immediately tried to find a local group to run with. The people of PARC are friendly, welcoming and interesting and possess a wide range of paces and distances that they cover. It’s easy to find someone to run with whether you want to relax or improve. I think on wednesdays we have more than 20 people most of the time. They also have long runs, track workouts and social events that are a lot of fun too. Hope to see you out here running with us!

This review is biased — happily! I’ve been a member of the Palo Alto Run Club(PARC) for 10 years and, as a board member, help organize the club’s Monthly Trail Run. The club is a non-profit, in the true meaning of the concept, as it charges only $ 25/year for membership and is run by non-compensated volunteers(like me) who participate out of a love of running and a desire to be social as well as fit. The club organizes 4 runs on week nights in the Palo Alto area on road and track. Additionally, there is the weekly Saturday AM run at Sawyer Camp and the Monthly Trail Run where we rotate our routes among the many fine Pennisula and East Bay trail systems. The mix of runners is wide and diverse, in age, culture, and abilities. We have Boston qualifiers, ultra runners, triathletes, 10k specialists, and even a nationally ranked runner or two. But we also have many members whose aspirations are simply to be more fit and are quite happy with a goal of running their local 10k without stopping. Conversation is ample, supportive feelings abound, and many members find life-long friends(or even marriages) withing the club. Oh, and the club’s social events are warm and frequent including post-run social events with discounts at local running stores, picnics, and holiday parties. How can you miss? Join us at one of our runs and check out the Palo Alto Run Club.
