This restaurant used to be a good place to go before they changed ownership. Last evening, the kitchen help sat in the main dining room and proceeded to chat Very Loudly using his Speaker phone to someone in a foreign language on the phone. It was obnoxious behavior by the kitchen help. I got up and complained to the waitresses who sent him outside. Unbelievable! Also, the waitresses stood around staring into space and never came back to my table to see if there was anything else I might need, such as a refill on my wine or water. I’m going to have to have a talk with the owner because their new employees have ruined what used to be a five star restaurant.

Nice atmosphere and good food. I came here for lunch win coworkers. We were greeted and seated immediately. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food is also good. I tried their mango chicken lunch special which included salad, soup and rice. It was so good that I finished everything! I will definitely come back here for lunch and maybe try their pad thai which looked pretty good too. Why 4 stars instead of 5? Well mainly because it took us a while to signal for our check even though there weren’t many people in the restaurant. I may change my review when I try this place a 2nd time.

I have been there twice and have loved their food both times! Their pad thai however was not good. The staff is very welcoming and humble.

We went to Indochine for the first time on a Friday night around 7PM or so. The restaurant was not particularly busy and we were seated immediately. I ordered the Green Curry Chicken with a bowl of brown rice and it was pretty tasty. The dish was mildly spicy and creamy as a result of the coconut milk used. I would say that the highlight for me was actually the sliced bamboo shoots scattered in the dish, which provided some nice texture. Although the meal was enjoyable, the restaurant felt a bit quiet and was too dimly lit. This is not necessarily an undesirable feature for some, but I was perhaps expecting a more lively crowd given that it was Friday night. This is in great contrast with my favorite Thai restaurant in the area, Siam Royal, which always feels lively and offers delicious food.

Food service was pretty meh. Spicy dishes were not spicy. Pad thai was bland. Meat was soggy. Service was only passable. I’ll have to continue my search for good thai in the peninsula.

While I enjoyed much of my food, I’m about 70% positive that there’s fish sauce used in the veggie soup I got and 100% positive that my pad see ew ordered sans chicken(that I took to go) had an entire chicken breast in it, despite my server(who was lovely) repeating my order back to me. The food I did eat was good, but I think their dedication to dietary restrictions, even ones outlined as being catered to on their menu, was not as on point as it could be. The soup I got was a large enough portion to be a meal, hence getting the main part of my order to go. So it’s great that they don’t skimp on portion but it sucked going to open the container the next day and eating the first few bites before realizing that the harder pieces weren’t egg or tofu, but chunks of chicken. My cats enjoyed eating the chicken chunks that were big enough to pull out, but the rest of the meal and the huge portion of noodles were wasted since it was impossible to sift through it all and as much as I miss chicken, it’s not worth getting sick off it after all these years of going without. I will say that the service otherwise was good and the food all came out faster than I could blink an eye. My hot Vietnamese coffee could have been better, but all in all it was a decent meal, at least the portion of it I did get to eat.

Lovely service. Very nice ambience and staff. great comfortable atmosphere, lighting is glowing and décor is nice. Food is lovely we tried a couple soups and an appetizer. will be back for more. pumpkin soup was simple and delicate. paired well with the demon wings. Hard to find Phở in Palo Alto. I appreciated the serving size, wasn’t huge bowl. However, there were only a couple Phở options. Keep in mind this place is a fusion so their menu is not full of many different kinds of Phở. I like that this place is Thai Vietnamese fusion, as I’m a fan of both cuisines. We will be coming back everything looked great on menu.

I have been coming to Indochine for many years, I usually had gotten take-out a lot and was very sad when it changed ownership, as the service was much better back then. I loved this place up until today… as I was treated very rudely by one of the staff workers. There are two females that work there they look almost identical, one of them is very friendly(did not catch her name), the other one wasn’t as friendly. She treated me very rudely in front of another customer today. So I will not be going there anymore or bringing in anymore business to them because of this. You just lost a really good customer. I’m very disappointed that I did not get her name:(

This used to be our favorite Thai restaurant. The new owners have made changes to the menu such as watering down coconut milk soup. It feels their hearts are not in it as the previous owner. I would not recommend this place.

Finally found my thai spot for green curry and chicken satay in Palo Alto! I love the fresh spring roll in rice paper that came with my lunch. I also really like their brown rice. The thai tea is really good too. I liked that its not too sweet. What a great lunch! :)

We used to love this place ! It is a nice little restaurant situated in midtown, very family friendly. The pervious owner(Don) ran this place fabulously . The quality /taste of food has gone down the drain with the new ownership.

The service was very good – quick and friendly – and there was no waiting for a table(we were the only ones there). I ordered the Pad Thai and it came out quickly enough and there was a lot of it; I was only able to finish half and took the rest to go. However, the Pad Thai was a little bland. I’m used to the complicated mix of flavors from the fish sauce, egg, tamarind, and chilies, but I didn’t get them in this dish.

What a disappointment! We got pad thai, fresh spring rolls, and papaya salad. Simple, staple foods. The spring rolls were great. Then we opened the papaya salad and it was just a giant pile of papaya with NO flavor. There was mint as a garnish, pepper sprinkled throughout and get this — FRENCHONIONS instead of dried shrimp on top. You know, the kind you put on green bean casserole. Then we opened the pad thai and it was the same disappointment. There were 3 shrimp and one little squiggle of egg sitting on top. The noodles were piping hot from the outside but fridge cold in the center. They’d clearly been sitting under a heat lamp for lord knows how long. You couldn’t even break them apart. I’m pregnant so after a couple of entirely tasteless bites I decided to be safe and just toss everything. It was just inedible and who knows how old everything was.

This review is for the food quality and not the service. Service was fair but then again we were one of the only customers in there. Ordered the Thai Silver Noodle, egg rolls, pad thai and chicken red curry. Thai silver noodle lacked authenticity in every way. It is supposed to have ground pork or chicken but instead just large chunks of dry chicken. Not spicy at all when supposed to be. The sauce way too salty and no lime juice. Just poorly made dish. Egg rolls totally lackluster and bland. My pad thai took the cake– completely inedible. Zero flavor, bright orange in color? It was as if they cooked spaghetti like noodles and stirred in packaged sauce? The look alone was a turn off and it tasted just as bad as it looked. Red curry also lacked proper flavors and just totally bland way too much coconut milk. Very disappointing and never returning.

So happy I gave this place a try! My usual place was closed so this place came up and thought, why not? Pleasantly surprised… large portions is an understatement! Ginormous is more like it! Flavor is good… I ordered pad Thai and spicy green beans w tofu. Pad Thai was a little dry… but for Sunday eve takeout and value, will definitely order again!

Indochine is still very good under the new ownership. The food is fresh and good and the portions are big. Very reasonable prices. Nice to have a reliable standby restaurant like this in the neighborhood.

WORSTSERVICEEVER!!! IF I COULDGIVETHISPLACE A NEGATIVESTARTHENTHATWOULDBEMYRATING. I waited at the front to be sat for 3 min with only 2 tables occupied and the lady at the front did not even acknowledge my presence. I then went to the front area to order my lunch«to go» and proceeded to wait another 3 min while she proceeded to read a fashion magazine. The final straw was her not even attempting to check for new customers in the restaurant, even though I was less that 7 feet away. She turned her back and walked into the kitchen to check on orders. If you enjoy being ignored, then this is the place for you. They obviously care not for new customers desiring to spend money. I WILLNEVERGOHEREAGAIN!!!

Cute little Thai place that won’t break the bank. Honestly Unilocal, the $$ option($ 10-$ 30) is ridiculous. I thought this place was going to be the same price as INDO a little bit aways, but everything is literally a fraction of the price. Blah, end rant. This place knows how to use spice. I got the Massamun curry, which had chunks of beef in a perfectly sweet-spicy potato-and-carrot curry sauce, whereas my friend got the sweet basil chicken, which was lightly dressed with a sweet-spicy basil sauce. Their proteins were slightly overcooked(still edible, but noticeably more tough than one would expect for curry), but not bad with the sauce. I don’t know whether I could say this place has«generous» portions, but they are pretty decent and filled me up after appetizers. Kind of stingy that you have to pay for rice, but the Thai places that do this are pretty even split so I can’t be too mad about it. Service is prompt, and their menu is quite large, but honesty I’d just stick with the specials. It’s probably my go-to for Thai in Palo Alto, but there isn’t that much competition at their price range anyway. – sweet: Good use of spiciness, massamun curry very flavorful, cheap. bitter: Slightly more expensive than usual, slightly overcooked proteins.

Southeast Asian cuisine has become the new thing, and it’s been awhile since I’ve been impressed by a Thai restaurant with interesting enough food such that I don’t have to default to pad Thai. I love the lunch specials – $ 8 for great quality AND quantity of food P: It comes with pumpkin porridge(tasty, though I’ve had thicker pumpkin porridge before) and a tofu Vietnamese spring roll(a little bland with the noodles and the rice wrap was strangely chewy, but just dip it in peanut sauce and it is happiness). (++) Country Tofu(fried tofu, cabbage, crystal noodles, garlic sauce): I rarely get so excited about tofu, but once I saw the picture of this it was love at first sight. It’s a light yet satisfying dish, with the tofu sauteed to the perfect crispy coat and soft filling. (++) Massamun Beef(beef, potato, carrot in massamun curry): Flavorful curry that was not all coconut milk, and there was a generous portion of beef. You’d expect a ton of potato to serve as a cheap filler, but there was seemingly never ending chunks of tender beef stew hidden in the bowl of curry. (+) Mango Chicken(chicken, mango, vegetables in mango sauce): Lots of real mango which turns out to be very unique tasty when sauteed with chicken. It just seemed like they added some type of syrup so it was a bit too sweet, but still delicious to that the point that my dish was inhaled. The Thai tea is alright, more sweet and creamy and less strong tea than I’m used to, but refreshing nonetheless. The restaurant itself is nice and comfy, with intricate paintings that are interesting to look at but not mind-bogglingly overdone. It’s convenient that it has its own reasonably sized parking lot. Service was slow since there was only one waiter for lunch on Saturday, and I felt kind of bad because it got quite busy with lots of take-out orders. We couldn’t help but feel a little annoyed because it was taking forever to get the check, but he apologized and gave us each a sampling of the house cheesecake – that fluffy creamy goodness and nutty crust… speechless end to an already amazing meal.
