It was nice to walk into a video store again! It had been years because I normally just troll through the online rental queues. Now I’m in the store regularly because I prefer to own actual DVD/​BluRays, support a local and get that nostalgic feeling of stepping into the past. Sort of like walking into a phone booth.

I miss video stores owned by people who just really like movies. I miss stores that feature «staff picks» that show the personality of the various workers. I miss video stores that tailor their inventory to the customers, rather than simply stocking a certain number of recent releases and not much else.
I lived at the Lake for a year, and this video store was a one mile walk from my house. I preferred to walk the mile and see what was new to simply adjusting the online queue.
I love that this is a local business, and that it supports and is supported by the community is serves.
