Went for breakfast after reading some reviews. Ordered grapefruit juice and was told«I don’t know why that’s on the menu, haven’t had it in months». Changed order to cranberry juice; it was so watered down it was really undrinkable. Ordered blueberry french toast, and it was bland and tasteless. I like cinnamon in my french toast, this had none, just plain bread dipped in egg. Hubby had chicken fried steak, «just ok», however the grits were very good. We typically eat at Robin’s on Main and will go back there.

It was lunch time, I had breakfast and it was great. More food than I could eat. My wife ordered a salad and it was also the best and more than she could eat also. So come hungry. You will not be disappointed.

The place is filthy. Had eggs Benedict. Portions small and the English muffin was burnt. Staff was friendly. I won’t be back.

I just ordered a corned beef sandwich(take-out) at lunchtime. Although the corned beef was very lean, the sandwich was three small slices of meat, on some sort of Ryeish bread. Very disappointing for the price. I won’t make that mistake again.

Great food, with something for both breakfast and lunch fans — and great service, too, with an ambience that’s welcoming for both the(many) local regulars and visitors. On the breakfast side, the varieties of muffins change daily, but you can’t go wrong with any of them. If you’re an eggs and bacon person, there are great omelet options and all the basic combinations. For lunch, you can’t go wrong with any of the quesadillas or burgers, and there are also a good selection of salads and sandwiches. A nice, relaxing place to get into the old Florida groove.

I absolutely loved this place! Our food was outstanding, I highly recommend the Veggie Benedict. The atmosphere and décor is perfect, they have done an excellent job of embracing the old charm of this building. I only wish we lived closer, I would definitely become a regular here.

Ive been to this place a few times. The food is decent not the greatest. It usually it doesn’t bother me if the customer service is good, but today it really bother me. Wellbi order scramble eggs, toast and ham. Everything look good until I seen a hair in my eggs i took it out and debate to eat the food since I hate to waste food, well I then seen the second hair. No way im eating this since my wife likes to eat here I decide not to make it a big deal and just have my food exchange. After finishing my food i seen a small eye lash and thinking to my self no way an other hair in my plate. I waited for the waitress to come my way since I was already upset. Guess what they kept checking on all of the other customers besides me, I figure that they were avoiding me since I had an issue from the beginning. Any ways the waitress finaly comes to check if we need it boxes my wife says yes at the same time I was mentioning that i found an other hair, she just walk away to get the boxes and then I was able to tell her that I for a hair. She took my plate and made a face I thought she would come back and may be apologized and may be not charge me for my food, well no she never came back so I after waiting 5 minutes I got up and decide to pay and not make a scene since they obviously don’t care about their customers.

Seemed like a nice place to have breakfast based on Unilocal reviews. I walked in and the place smelled kind of musty and not very clean. I ordered the whole wheat pancakes off of the menu and was told they didn’t have any, so I ordered a regular pancake instead. The orange juice tasted fresh but the plastic cup it came in was cracked from the top to the bottom. The waitress was kind of grouchy and never came back to see if I needed anything else. The place had maybe 4 tables with customers. There were two servers. So it was not too busy that she could not check up on me. You can’t really screw up breakfast. It was okay. I probably won’t be back.

Mediocre. I like the atmosphere but the food tasted bland and like it came out of a box. The servers are nice though but I won’t be coming back

Quality vs cost… the food was quality, and the service excellent. The cost… there is not one thing on the menu over 8.00-my husband the good Olé boy Benedict $ 7.79 it was a large portion and the biscuit was fresh in house baked. I had the 3 egg California omelet. Spinach, bacon, avocado, jack cheese, with sourdough toast $ 6.99-more than I could eat, hubby had to finish for me. Great ambiance. The restaurant is located in historical Palmetto. The building was built in the late 1800’s…affordable breakfast, great experience

Delicious food. Prices are reasonable. This is a place where one does not rush through the meal. Nice option conveniently located in downtown Palmetto. Plenty of parking spaces. Friendly service. Nicely decorated.

We tried this restaurant for the first time for Breakfast on a Wednesday morning based on the reviews on Unilocal. We were highly satisfied. Seat yourself, very cool old building Palmetto. Bottomless Coffee, definitely a plus. Their sourdough toast is actually big fluffy Sourdough toast(unlike a lot of restaurants where it’s lame). I had a very tasty grilled Muffin, my wife had two eggs and a biscuit(coffee included in special). The food was very good, the service was great. Yes, they even have peanut butter which is a bonus for my toast. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, old wood floor, the décor inside, everything was cool about this place.

My husband and I came here Sunday for breakfast. Very cute, cozy feeling. It reminded me lots of Savannah with the exposed brick and warm, welcoming feeling. The service was great and our meal was good… nothing to write home about, though. I had the eggs benedict with cheesy potatoes. Both were strictly average. I while the food is not outstanding, it is definitely one of the better places in the area for breakfast. And cuteness of it is what would draw me back.

In opening, I have to say that Norma Rae’s is very cute. I really feel like it is an old piece of Palmetto history. With that being said, I feel as though the restaurant is average. I had biscuits and gravy with grits and bacon and my wife had Eggs Benedict. The biscuits and gravy tasted like the gravy was made with corn beef hash. The bacon was standard precooked. The biscuits were subpar. The best part of my breakfast were the grits. They actually tasted like fresh stone ground goodness. The prices are affordable and the service is good. $ 22 for us is average for breakfast. Go to Norma Rae’s and try it out for yourself. It’s a decent breakfast at a decent price in the atmosphere is cozy. It’s a lot better than Popi’s Too located 5 blocks north.

Great restaurant. Nothing fancy but great, fresh, home made food. I love the BLT with fried egg and avocado. I’ve only eaten their for lunch several times. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

We stopped here as a group on the way down to the beach for a wedding. We were hungry, hung over and determined to find some heavy fare. We found it here at Norma Rae’s. Two of us had the eggs over corned beef hash. One of us had the eggs with sausage patties. All of us had multiple cups of coffee. The corned beef hash was awesome. Eggs were cooked perfectly. I had home fries, the others had the cheesey potatoes. Both were good. Service was good and fast. The place looses a star for under cooked biscuits though. They were pretty raw. I guess, when you make your own homemade, you just need to make sure they are cooked. We were so hungry we ate them without a comment to the staff, but they were for sure under cooked. Prices were very fair, and the place represents a good value. I would for sure come back.
