Gil’s Gym & Racquet Health Club

The owner is committed to helping people reach their goals and wants you to succeed. When i moved away for a while, I had no trouble cancelling my membership and starting right back up again when i moved into town. When the owner heard i had roommates who were on the fence about getting a gym membership, he gave us a group discount to get them in the door.
The owner invests time and money back into the gym constantly, He;s there saying hi to people and listening to requests. For instance, he realized some of the gym members liked to do deadlifts so he added a deadlift platform and bumper weights. He’s also adding new areas to the gym for special classes (I use the weights, but i think it’s nice for others)
The best part is, the gym isn’t crowded so you never have to wait for equipment.

Since taking over All Day All Night Fitness in Ludlow, Gil’s Gym has let the place get dirty and run down. The «new» equipment looks more like refurbished stuff and behaves like previously used equipment. Paper /​cloth towels for wiping down machines are often not available. Exercise mats are falling apart. Floors and bathrooms are dirty and in need of a professional cleaning crew. Nice group of people use this gym. That’s what keeps everyone going. But everyday, I hear more and more complaints. Owner seems unresponsive/​uncaring. He does not interact with people using the gym.
Since posting this review, the owner contacted me personally. He listened and promised to look into my concerns immediately.

I’ve been a member here for the past ten months. I was warmly welcomed when I first came to look at the gym and get a tour of the facilities, and have been warmly welcomed every time I have visited, ever since.
I work out five days a week, and am delighted with the quality and quantity of cardio machines and TechnoGym weight training equipment. (There is also an extensive free-​weight area that I do not use, but the people who do use it appear pleased.)
Patrons are considerate and don’t waste time playing with their phones, tying up the equipment; everyone is here to exercise. Also, this is not a pick-​up joint; women aren’t being hit-​on and bothered.
They have a stretching room, Zumba, yoga, racquetball, basketball, and other group activities available all week.
I’m overweight, but I am never made to feel self-​conscious or like a second-​class citizen. Everyone who works here is friendly and encouraging and ready to help if needed, but aren’t pushy or intrusive.
The facility is kept very clean. At other gyms I’ve attended in the past, I never would have felt comfortable showering. Here? No problem! Great water pressure too. The sauna, steam room, and hot tub (yay!) are immaculate.
There are a couple of tanning booths available that appear clean and state-​of-​the-​art. They have a juice/​smoothie bar where they make your drinks fresh, to order. There is a child-​care area so parents can leave off their kids during certain hours. Also, there’s a very friendly and helpful personal trainer here who runs a protein supplement and vitamin shop on-​site if people are interested, and he takes special orders.
One complaint I had about my last gym was their need to incessantly blast crappy, angry music at a volume that could be heard in the parking lot. It’s not like that here. The music is at a reasonable volume, with a motivating beat… and if it’s not your cup of java, you’ll be able to hear your own earbuds.
Free WI-​FI, with great service all over the building.
If I could be here seven days a week, I would. I believe the price is fair for the quality (as I write this, it’s $ 29/​month). They offer a free month for you to try it out if you aren’t sure, so there’s nothing to lose.
And, no, I don’t work for the gym! :)

The gym opens at 5am for the early birds and closes at 10 for the late ones.

Been a member for over a year now. The staff here is friendly, the gym is rarely crowded. There’s a nice selection of cardio equipment (3 stairmills, ~10 ellipticals, ~12 treadmills) and ample amount of free weights. The biggest selling point for me was the racquetball courts. There’s also an area to drop off your kids.
