The guy was nice, but he was the only person there and I was ordering food for six, with my three kids and one of their friends. First of all, he seemed to be out of a lot of food. When I ordered falafel, he said he only had four and they normally give five. He didn’t offer anything extra to replace it – an extra pita, salad, etc. He said it would take 20 minutes for our to-go order, but we waited nearly 40. This is already annoying, and I wss willing to let it go, but everybody else ordered chicken and ALL of the chicken was pink. My husband put it in a pan and cooked it more. It all just felt like our preparation for a restaurant. I’ll definitely be skipping this place in the future.

Dude running the joint shouldn’t be in the customer service business. Period. I’m writing the rest of this review because Unilocal says I have to write more in order for it to be a review and not a tip that is dumb I give Unilocal 1 star as well.

I love the food here. The portion sizes are great. I always leave full. Owner seems to be mean and hard… After several visits he is very nice and cares for his customers. He will go out of his way to make you happy.

Just to preface, I hold Zankou as my high standard for kebab, shawarma, rotis chicken and garlic sauce. First we tried to call in our order for pickup, but no one ever answered the phone. I had read all of the Unilocal reviews about the rude service, so I didn’t really want to go in to order, but there wasn’t much choice. I had looked at their menu online(even though the website is for the old name/brand, the menu is the same), and decided to try several things, so we were going to get two combo plates: beef/lamb kebab and chicken/beef shawarma, in addition to a whole chicken. When I tried to order the kebab combo, the lady said they didn’t have lamb kebabs. It wasn’t clear if they were just out or if they don’t actually serve them anymore, but they are still on their overhead and paper menus. So I just got the beef kebab. When I tried to order the shawarma combo plate, she was very confused… she didn’t understand what I meant. I finally asked what the combo plate was, anyway. She said it was 4 pieces of chicken and 4 pieces of beef. So even though the website says«any combination of shawarma or kebab», there is actually only one kind of combo available, apparently. Ok, I figure maybe they just decided to change their menu up and it’s not really their fault that I looked at the old website. Still trying to give them the benefit of the doubt at this point. So, beef kebab plate, chicken shawarma plate, and whole chicken was around $ 33. We wait about 15 mins for the food, no problem.(Though would have rather been able to call it in, and not have to listen to some really bad music-just a personal opinion) When we get the food home… it was just a sum total of ‘meh’. The beef kebab was good, and the fries were nicely spiced but got soggy sitting under the kebab meat. The chicken shawarma was ok. The rice was good. Hummus was pretty standard, I think it’s hard to mess that up. The garlic sauce was nothing like Zankou… more ‘creamy’, but still pretty good. The whole chicken was… not. Good or whole. It was 4 breast/wings in a styrofoam tray. This really disappointed my husband who is a dark meat fan. Neither of us even finished 1 piece, because the seasoning just wasn’t very good and the breasts were pretty dry. Thankfully I didn’t experience any rude service… the owner even smiled at me as we left, but we won’t be going back. Between not getting what we ordered and the quality of what we did get… nah.

This business has been renamed to «Kebob House», presumably because the correct spelling of kabob house was already taken. Just as others have stated on here, the guy running the place seems like he is not there by choice. He likes to get argumentive over the simplest things. I should have known this place was bad news when he wanted to argue they dont serve a certain item when it was clearly printed on the menu and wall. have given this place 3 tries thinking he was just having a few bad days but it’s got to the point where you cannot even order the lunch specials over the phone, you have to be present in the store to order. otherwise toy pay for the dinner price. Why would you put such a ridiculous stipulation in place? Why make customers spend an extra 10 — 20 minutes standing around waiting for you to make the order when it can be ready for them when they arrive? It’s not like this place is doing well enough to turn away customers, at lunch you rarely see more than 2 people dining in. The food wasn’t too bad, it’s a shame the guy running the place seems to have some sort of agenda to run it into the ground.

This place is no longer called«Sam’s Flaming Grill». Instead, you’ll see a «House Of Kabob» sign. If you understand the concept of «franchising», you would see how this changes the rules a little. Splitting off from a corporate brand so soon after openning is almost unheard of. Simply bevause the corporation will often place certain restrictions and requirements upon the franchisee with regards to performance, cleanliness, ingredients, customer service standards(i.e. «attitude» as many have complained about the owner being«rude»). In this case, and though the name has changed(clearly indicating an apparent split/spin-off from the corporate«Sam’s …»), you would not know it by looking at the menu or by the type, quantity, ingredients and taste of the food they serve on their plates. At least for now, nothing but the name has changed. I recently ordered by phone and picked up 10 minutes later. Yes there was an older gentleman working on the grill/in the kitchen, but he did not look like the«owner» whom I had met a few months back when they had first opened up. At any rate, I had placed my phone order with, and was later greeted by the same lady, and after she collected the money I asked her if I can use the restroom, to which she replied, «sure, its right around the corner, it is unlocked». No problems there. By the time I finished using the restroom, my order eas ready at which time, she thanked me and wished né a good evening. All that the nice aroma wafting from the basmati rice combined the the spices used to marinade the chicken kabob I had ordered, made for a difficult 10 minute drive home; but once there, I tore open that holy goodness of a chicken kabob plate and scarfed it down like it was going out of style. And typically, after splitting off from a franchise, individual owners tend to get cheap, the portions they serve start to get smaller and quality will begin to get sacrificed and deteriorate. Although I typically hate to be wrong(ask my friends), I hope I will be wrong in this case!

I am extremely disappointed with this location. I consistently eat from Sam Flaming Grill in Santa Clarita because I work in the area. I’ve given the Palmdale location at least 10 tries but the last 4 occasions have been terrible. The guy running it has a terrible attitude and does not look happy to be there. The falafels have been dry, and the pita bread isn’t served warm. I never see any meat cooking in the kitchen so I perplexed where the pull the hot meat from. One Saturday I showed up and asked for the Family meal and he told me «We are out.».. they were literally out of hens. I don’t understand how you can run a restaurant with no food. I really hope this place turns around or at least get a different cheerful guy to run it.

Food is good but the staff is super awkward. Awkward greeting, awkward ordering, awkward wait. Add in a touch of rudeness(or at least the perception). Wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t last much longer.

I have to say, I had such a laugh and a great time at this place! The owner made me laugh so hard I almost peed my pants. He has a crazy personality and some of you would call it as «RUDE» but really? He is not. He says it as it is with no filter. He does not sugar Coat. He is awesome. I am Armenian, and you know how picky we are! I went in there for lunch, the helpings were large, the food was great. I had the chicken luleh Kabab plate and OMG the food was fresh and good. I would def. eat there again if I was in the area.

I’m reiterate what T. D said the owner is a piece of s*** he’s a greedy, cheap son of a gun I went in one day trying to order the lunch special which is a ¼ chicken rice salad and hummus and I was told that I had to wait an hour for the rotisserie chicken to be done and yet people around me were getting their food and somehow I had to wait an hour and to top this off this has occurred multiple times and on one occasion he said that they aren’t serving the lunch special in the afternoon he’s a straight up F****** A****** if the management would change then I would love to be a regular but unless that happens I refuse to support his business NEVERAGAIN!

after waiting for a gentleman on my side of the counter and a lady behind the counter to finish up on their«get rich quick» plan I place my order a gyro plate for $ 9.99& a drink for $ 1.65. First, after I pay for my order I’m told there is no ice, but not to worry the drinks are cold. When the order comes out, no salad, burnt meat, no rice — I get fries. Service was poor and so was the food. I cannot recommend this place. To the few who raved about this place consider yourself lucky. For those with poor service believe me I feel your pain. If I could rate this place zero stars I would. Ok folks, you have been warned.

It’s such a shame that the owner is so rude because the food is excellent. My husband and I have eaten at Sam’s in Palmdale a handful of times. The first time we went my husband asked a question about an item on the menu and the owner pointed at a picture and said«You see that? That’s what it is». We felt like we’d be yelled at if we asked any further details, so we took a safe route and ordered kabob plates. The food was brought to our table fresh and in a timely manner. Everything was DELICIOUS. We decided to go back since the food was so good and thought that maybe we caught the owner on a bad day. We ordered chicken shawarma sandwiches this time. When we told the owner that we’d only be having water to drink, he rolled his eyes and said«Come on guys». Once again, the food was brought to our table fresh and in a timely manner and was AMAZING. We went to Sam’s one last time recently. This time the wife took our order and the owner was in the back room. We sat down for about 15 minutes and noticed that nothing was being done to prepare our order. The owner walked out from the back and then his wife asked if he could make our shawarma sandwiches. He put them together and brought them to our table while cussing someone out on the phone — nice. We will not be returning to Sam’s. I’m sure they’ll be closing soon because I’ve never seen more than one other table full on our visits, but unfortunately they’ve dug their own grave.

I have a friend that I meet for lunch about once every two months or so. It was my turn to pick the restaurant, we both enjoy Mediterranean food and I chose Sam’s Flaming Grill for this dining adventure. We entered and took a seat, you order at the front counter and there is a menu an the wall behind the counter. I picked up a couple of paper menus and brought them back to the table. After going over the menu we both decided on Chicken Shawarma Sandwiches. I went to the front counter and placed the order and then returned to our table. The restaurant was impeccably clean, there is seating inside for 44 at eleven 4 place tables and each table has a hanging light above it. There is also some seating available outside. After about ten minutes the sandwiches were brought to our table, while I was busy taking a photo of mine my friend started in, I heard her say mmmm, I looked over at her and asked«Good?» She nodded in the positive. I tried mine and concurred with my friend’s assessment. All of the ingredients tasted fresh, the chicken freshly grilled, tender and flavorful. I believe that this is a husband and wife team that is operating this location. Both of them were friendly and helpful, they both made a point of coming over to the table to ask how we were doing and to chat with my friend’s little girl. So to sum it up we both enjoyed the food and service, this is a restaurant that I would return to and feel comfortable recommending.

Overall, this was an unexciting dining experience, but at least my iPhone made the dishes look good :). One thing I must compliment them on is that the food is fresh and ours was prepared to order … we don’t mind if it takes a while under those circstances. Mr Picky wanted more acid in the salad dressing, but I thought it was okay even if I wasn’t in love with it … it was freshly prepared, well-chilled, but in need of a little more feta. Mr. Picky’s lamb chops were okay, but my lamb kabob was overcooked. The owner came over to discuss lamb doneness and what tastes best, but I regretfully had to tell him I couldn’t finish the dish because it was too dry and my jaw ached from chewing it.

I have to echo what«T D.» said below. My experience on 4⁄2 was very much the same. The cashier was friendly, but the owner/manager appears to have a major attitude problem. He was unhelpful when I asked questions about the menu. But worse was the way he talked to the cashier. He treated her like garbage and denigrated her every action. I don’t know how someone could put up with that kind of treatment all day, every day. The food itself was good, 4-star worthy. However it also took a really long time for our food to come out, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. And although the dining area seemed to have been recently remodeled and decorated, the restroom had not. It looked and smelled horrible, and was covered in graffiti. Weird experience overall. Feeling bad for the employee(s) who have to work under the tyrant owner. I probably won’t come back.
