Good sashimi. Very mild and delicate. Pork Katsu not as tender as it could be. Service good. Nice patio. Great salad dressing. We bought a bottle.

This place deserves a better rating than it currently has(3). I thought it was pretty good. Had California Roll, Rainbow Roll and cucumber salad. Rolls were larger than normal. Reasonably priced and great service.

Happy Sushi was the option for the team and I to eat at. Even though the eatery is right along the strip, it can be a bit hard to find since it is tucked away in the back behind a fountain. I am still warming up to sushi but whenever it is offered, I don’t turn it down. We all entered and were seated promptly by Angel(outdoor seating is available). He was friendly and happily took our order… when we were finally ready. As I sat down, my eyes rested on a small dish with chopsticks on top of it. To this day, I still have a bit of a difficulty using chopsticks. Today I was determined to eat my food w/them! Angel was kind enough to offer me some«training sticks» to help me out. I ended up ordering a Lion King roll. It was pretty good. Nice sauce. The roll filled me up nicely. Unfortunately, 7 of 8 slices had the top sauce on it. A bit disappointing. Maybe I should have ate the eighth piece first or asked for a bit more sauce. Thanks Angel for taking care of us and showing me the way to use chopsticks… I was able to use actual chopsticks on my own. fin.

Hmm. I think Ash and his multitude of friends would call blasphemy and challenge me to a battle for giving this place 4 stars but finding good Ramen out in Palm Springs is impossible! It’s like trying to find Meloetta(no matter annoying, I mean sweet her song is!). Either way, the Shoyu was much tastier than the Tonkotsu Ramen, which is hard to imagine. Score one for Team Raichu over Team Pikachu! I will say the Kara-Age was cooked to perfection !(cover your ears Torchic!)

Food was really good but service was too slow. It may be that they were short staffed. Great udon noodle soups! Highly recommend.

This was not on my short list of to-eat restaurants in Palm Springs but since Japanese is one of my 1 year old’s favorite cuisines, we ended up really liking our meal here. As a result of an order miscommunication, we had two types of chicken wings to start — the tempura battered as well as the piri kara. The piri kara is some sauced in a vibrant, spicy red chili, which is really spicy, and the tempura battered are simply fried. The ten zaru soba is pretty expensive for dried soba, dipping sauce, but the tempura had a nice variety of onion, green bean, yam, sweet potato, and shrimp. The pork udon had none of the usual suspects for toppings, but instead had spinach. The beef udon was my daughters pick and it got the job done, with onion and thinly sliced beef with udon, but the beef was soo fatty that i had to scoop out tons of oil and flat globs.

I come to Palm Springs for my diet doctor every six months and we came here for lunch afterwards. I looked at the reviews before we came here and was kinda on the edge of going. I’ve been here before though and I remembered I liked the place so we came here again. I was just really hungry and the place was close. There were some people eating here so at least the place wasn’t empty. It was super quiet in here though, like dead quiet, which kinda creeped me out. My Mom said she liked that it was quiet, but for me it was just too quiet. A woman smiled at us as we walked in, I think she was the owner. That was basically the only real greeting we got from here. Our server seated us immediately at the table next to the sushi bar. I remember last time we sat at the sushi bar and the chefs there were really nice and entertaining. The place seemed kinda empty and dead now. Our server was kinda quiet and seemed like he didn’t want to be there. We ordered hot tea first to drink and that came pretty quick. It was nice and warm, but it didn’t taste that great. It was like that powdered green tea, bleh. We ordered everything at once. I ordered the tonkatsu appetizer and the sashimi trio lunch special, no rice. My Mom got the pork ramen. Our food came in a weird order. My Mom got her ramen first, she asked for an extra bowl for me to try some. The noodles and pork were good, but the broth tasted weird to me, it had like a weird gasoline aftertaste. My Mom liked it though. Next came my miso soup, salad and sashimi trio. I liked the salad, they put the sesame dressing on the side. The miso soup was really bland. The sashimi was probably the worst I’ve ever had. I tried the albacore first, it wasn’t even seared like on the picture it was just two chunks of fish. It tasted like it was very recently thawed, there were still icy chunks in it. It was also really gristly, it took quite an effort to swallow. The tuna was much better, the best pieces on the plate. The salmon, which is normally my favorite, was flavorless and a little slimy. Very disappointing. The tonkatsu, which was supposed to be the appetizer, came last. I liked the panko breading on it, but it was over cooked and dry. The sauce that it came with tasted like straight vinegar which was gross, so I just used soy sauce for dipping. Oh and the soy sauce on our table didn’t even pour. It was clogged up or something so I got the soy sauce from the table behind us. At least it was reduced sodium soy sauce. It needed a lot of soy sauce. Our meal was cheap for a sushi place, $ 45 in total for the both of us including tip and tax, but it was so not worth it. My Mom liked this place since it was cheap and quiet, but I don’t think I want to come back based mostly on the food.

Went for the lunch special. Their chicken wing appetizer looks hearty on the menu but oddly miniaturized when it arrived on the table! Where did they find such mutant miniature tiny chickens? Not even worth the effort! Sushi lunch special seemed refrigerated, not fresh. But the real issue came with the bill. We were charged for evening dinner prices even though we requested the lunch specials at 1PM in the afternoon! $ 16 for a lunch«special»? Then we noticed the figures on the bill didn’t even add up properly!($ 10 overcharge). Had to bring the bill back to the waiter 3 separate times. Overcharged by $ 40%!! Once we asked him to add up the numbers, and he baldfaced lied and said that $ 10 + $ 25 was $ 45!!! When confronted, he called it an «honest mistake», yet made no effort to apologize or accommodate. The owner wasn’t there, so we requested a callback — never got one. Place is just there to rip off the tourists. WATCHYOURBILLCAREFULLY!

My family was here on a visit and my wife craved sushi. I read the other reviewers before going and the majority were negative with a few exceptions. Since this was the only sushi in walking distance, we decided to roll the dice. My opinion of the food summarized in one word… Gross! Imagine eating the sushi prepared at a supermarket after it has been sitting in the aisle for 3 days, and the paying top dollar for it! I had the«special» baked salmon roll which was dry, poorly prepared and with a bad taste. My wife had the soft shell crap spider roll which again was dry and tasted gross. I can’t say much for the service either, the waiters clothes were filthy and he looked like he just got done cleaning out the trash bin. I told the waiter about the food, and his suggestion was to come back again and they would give us a free roll… ha, never. After eating, we saw a lot of other restaurants in the area that looked good and we were very disappointed we did not chose one.

When visiting the desert, this is a sushi joint we dine at on an oh-man-I-really-need-sushi-now-and-there-are-no-other-options-available sort of basis… The draw to Happy Sushi Robata is the location, and the friendly service. The price for sushi seems quite high to me for the amount and the quality of the fish, though I understand the price reflects the overhead of the restaurant. I appreciate the amiable service, but the quality of the fish seems less than exemplary.

First off I would be putting 2.5 stars, but it’s not available. I’ll start off with the pro’s: The food here is very good and it’s fresh. Staff is very friendly and the owner is as well. however, the con’s: Price– one of the more spendy places I’ve been to, on top of that the Happy Hour is a joke, 20 percent off sushi. this bill was over 30 and it was two servings, also the happy hour is limited to a very small selection(NONIGIRIONHAPPYHOUR). it took 20 minutes to get my first plate, which seems very excessive, considering I was the only one in there when i arrived, the lady that came in after me received her plate well before I did. Unfortunately I won’t be back unless there is a few changes to menu items, price and waiting time.

WORSTRESTAURANTEVER! I have never, in all of the restaurants I have ever dined in, experienced such bad service and food. We were one of the only people in the restaurant yet it took the one server in the restaurant(on a busy Thursday night), 40 minutes to come and take our order. Then another hour to receive a couple of sushi rolls. Which were not fresh at all!!! Then at the end, we found out the price was $ 80!!! The prices were not even written on the menu! But $ 80 for a couple of bad sushi rolls and 2 hours to receive our food??? SPAREYOURTIMEANDMONEYANDDONOTCOMEHERE!

1) I’ve never had fuschia-colored tuna. I had it here. 2) Poke salad should have generous chunks of fish, not a sprinkling of rubbery bits. I had the latter here. 3) An order of unfiltered cold sake should not result in filtered cold sake. I had it here. 4) Service in any industry has declined dramatically lately. Good service is hard to find, much less great service. I had it here. Name the redeeming quality!

I have been on many occasions. The fish is always good and fresh and the prices are decent. The staff always very nice and welcoming. I wouldn’t say that it is the best sushi I have ever had, but I would say that it is a decent choice considering the options in the immediate vicinity.
