Varied menu with great senior specials. Roasted pablano soup was very good. Tri-tip over cooked. Service was terrible. Took 15 minutes to get soup and drinks. Thirty for dinner. Another five at cashier just to get a check. Manager no help. The new tablets the chain uses are a joke. More work than they’re worth. Training staff would be the first step. Maybe I’ll try lunch.

Horrible service. Took over an hour and there wasn’t anyone in the restaurant. Eggs weren’t cooked properly and the waitress was good about giving attitude… No thanks.

Saturday night, 9:30 pm… walked into Carrows with a couple of friends for some hot coffee. The waitress seats us and after 15 minutes comes back and says: «I am sorry, I cannot do this. I was supposed to be off work at 7pm and I am still there. We close in 15 minutes and it takes a long time for us to get the place cleaned up». I am serious… these were the words she spoke. We left, and I will never go back. Customer service??? geeeeez…

Simple, consistent, good breakfast fare. Similar to a Denny’s and absolutely no pretense. I’ve only had breakfast here over the years; I like the food and love the prices. I guess the previous Unilocal about the bad service took hold because the morning service is excellent. Welcoming smiles from good people who seem happy you are here. Food came out fast, hot and as expected. It’s a simple but good experience.

I usually really like Carrow’s, at least the ones around where I live and work in LA and Northern CA. So when I was in Palm Springs for work and needed a quick simple lunch I decided to stop in. Well I godda say either Carrow’s is about to go bankrupt or this place is weeks away from demolition. I’ve never been in such a dilapidated eating establishment in my life. Every aspect of this place is worn out and well past its life expectancy. I don’t know where to start. From the pot holed crumbling parking lot to the ripped worn out booths, to the tables that have been wiped and used for so many years the finish has worn off, this place is well past its expiration date. The bathrooms make a truck stop look clean and modern, absolutely disgusting. I was a brave soul and went forward with eating here. My food was ok, I cant really comment on the food because I was so grossed out by the condition of the place I just worried the kitchen was also filthy and gross like the dining room. I kind of picked at my food and paid my bill and left. In fairness I have to say that the server was friendly and the manager that rang me up was a nice guy also. I am just shocked that a place in this condition is still in operation and serving food.

Not impressed. Walk in & place is practically empty, guy at cash register tells us, «sit anywhere over there» and waves his arm in the air. Even though there are few customers in here, it took 11 minutes for us to get service. Booths were dirty. Ordered drinks – regular Coke and a coffee. First he brings a diet, which is gross. The coffee isn’t even warm but the cup is too hot to touch. He brings another soda, but come to find out they have Pepsi here and not Coke. He should have mentioned that, would have ordered something else. Order arrived faster than the original time it took to get service. FYI, servers should SMILE. Apparently that’s too much to ask. The older woman working is actually helpful and friendly. The younger guy working is apathetic, pouty, and obviously doesn’t want to be here. Bacon is excellent. Coffee is weak. Hash browns are crazy greasy. Maybe a different day and time would be better here.

Went here tonight for dinner. Not a lot of people in the restaurant. We were seated within a few mins of arrival. The waitress took our drink order as were seated. We placed our food order and it was brought out not long after. The order was correct, but I had to send mine back due to the meat not being hot enough to my liking. My food was returned to me within minutes at the proper temperature. Dessert was included in the meal. I ordered the cobbler. The waitress informed me they didn’t have enough cobbler to make a proper potion so she offered me another dessert. When the dessert was brought to the table I was given not only the optional dessert but the cobbler that I had originally ordered.

Took FOREVER to get a server to the table with NOONE in the restaurant. Dirty. Order came out wrong. 2 orders came out, 4 people waited. .and waited. .and waited for theirs. Server made everyone feel uncomfortable with her overbearing, disconnected way of communicating. .including(gasp) referencing a tip in the middle of our meal. Yikes! Wish the moms hadn’t lost the vote. We ended up here instead of Elmers!!!

Went with some friends. All I can say is depressing very mediocre food horrible service. Took 15 minutes to be seated 15 minutes to be waited on … Waitress never came to refill our glasses, had to yell across the room to get her attention and please note NOONE was in the restaurant at peak lunch hour. Just us. So you think she would want a good tip. I’m giving her one now — work a little harder.

This place is slow. Very slow. You even have to wait a long time to get your check and you have to wonder how a business survives that doesn’t even try very hard to get paid. I had promised myself to never go back the last time I was here and had slow service, but since the other restaurants in the area were busy, one did not have any open parking spaces, decided to give Carrow’s a try again since their parking lot was almost empty. This time truly was my last, Never again.

When I’m in Palm Springs, I always like to stop by this restaurant for breakfast. Good food, good price and usually good service until the is past Sunday. The waiter was so rude, obnoxious, and unattentive we felt like as customers we were imposing on him. After waiting 15 minutes at our table, we weren’t even greeted and the items the waiter did put on the table were slammed down. We thought this couldn’t be for real at first that it must have been a joke. Sadly it wasn’t. I’ll go back to giving this place five stars but they’ll have to deal with this waiter first.

Typical diner food, pre-cooked/prepped is what I think. I’ve never enjoyed a visit here or the feeling after I have consumed their food. It is noisy, the staff just never seemed to care and the management is unbelievably non-customer oriented(see below). The last time we went(and I DOMEANTHELASTTIME) the hostess refused to seat us. She said they were closed. We looked at the door and it was about ten minutes before the posted closing time. We asked her about this just as the manager arrived to «greet» us and he told us the kitchen had closed 5 minutes earlier.(WHAT? They unplugged the microwaves and can’t reheat us one of their Carrow’s TV dinners???) They had at least 12 tables of people at various stages of their meals and many open tables set and ready to go. Bitter, party of two. Not going to give them my money. I’d rather suffer through iHop before I give them any more of my business.

A wonderful gem on E. Palm Canyon. Quiet, fast, friendly service, great food, good prices. What’s not to love? No idea why it was so quiet. Oh well, more for me to eat!

This restaurant was OK. We were looking for a place to eat lunch quickly and cheaply and since this place was right next to our hotel, we decided to check it out. First walking in, it looked so old fashioned, like an old fashioned diner with vintage looking booths. Ok, we weren’t in a first class establishment, but I wasn’t looking to spend a lot anyway. The host and servers were really nice and accommodating. We took a look at the menu to place our orders. OMG. they listed all of the calories on each dish and I was amazed and appalled. almost EVERYTHING was at least 1000 calories! I even spotted something that was 1900 – 2100 calories!!! HOLYCRAP! I guess this isn’t the place to be if you are health conscious like me. I ended up ordering the only healthy thing on the menu, a veggie egg white omelette with fruit and some toast. It was good, and healthy, but I wanted something else with more substance. My boyfriend got the cheese burger, and he said it was really good. It looked really good. YUM. The waitress was nice enough to split our checks for us based on what we each ordered, which was handy. But she ended up switching our orders and I paid for my bf’s and he paid for mine. lol. oh well. Don’t know if I would come back here, but maybe if there was nothing else.

(3.5 stars) Sunday morning and my two friends and I head out for breakfast before I drive back to LA. We were going to go to the Red Tomato, however they are no longer open for breakfast. As Carrows was next right next door, it was the natural choice. SERVICE: Our server was younger, very nice and did what she could to help with our requests. FOOD: My friends had the Great Big Breakfast and Prime Rib & Eggs, while I had the new Hearty Breakfast Skillet. With Sausage, bacon and corned beef hash mixed with scrambled eggs and onions. It was VERY good and I was pleasantly pleased. My friend who ordered the Great Big Breakfast said it was fine, however friend #2, who ordered the prime rib & eggs wasn’t too happy with it. He sent it back as soon as it arrived because the prime rib was well-done, rather then the medium-rare he requested. The 2nd one arrived and was more med-well and he just decided to deal with it rather then sending it back again. OVERALL: this Carrows seemed to be a little older and is more of toward what I think of as Denny’s(not great). For me the dish I ordered was quite good and the service was fine. But if you ask my friend about the food, he will tell you a different story.

12/14/2009 Dependable Carrrows Service .8 of 1 star Cleanliness .8 of 1 star Food 1.2 of 2 stars Ambiance .8 of 1 star I was tired by the time we got here. We’d missed our chosen destination, the motion was east and not going back, and Carrow’s was a familiar place to stop. Our server had a lot of tables to cover plus a lerge group in the next room. She did a fine job of serving us, all things considered. I split a burger and an asian chicken salad. The fries were outstanding. The burger was a burger. The salad was heavily spiced with pepper. I shared a slice of chocolate cream pie. It looks like prices are staying the same, but the portions getting smaller. There was lots of cream and about half the chocolate filling I expected. It tasted good though. The coffee was decent. We were very pleasantly surprised at the final tab for five people something a little over forty dollars. Will we stop again? Maybe some day we will. We got back in the car, I inhabited the back seat, went to sleep and didn’t wake up until Quartzsite, AZ.
