North Pinellas Branch: YMCA of the Suncoast

This YMCA is great. It’s definitely a community center– you always see someone you know. They have a very nice, open gym area, a few mirrored studios for classes (which are usually pretty awesome) and for free range too. The pool is outdoor and has plenty of lanes, and they also have a kiddie pool. They have a good amount of tennis courts, too! They even have clay courts. There is also a massage room! I’ve gotten massages here after tough days of workouts and they’ve been really great and relaxing.
The staff is extremely nice and always helpful, too. I don’t have kids of my own at the moment, but when my brother was younger, the kid’s play area was very convenient and nice! He always had a good time there and we always felt confident with the staff to watch after him while we were working out. I’ve never been unhappy with this Y!

This place has become a community hub for most everyone in the East Lake area. They offer a wide range of fitness features including a modern weight & equipment room, a full schedule of classes like Pilates, Martial Arts, & Spin, an Olympic-​size swimming pool, tennis courts, child-​care, and more. I think the only thing missing would be having chiropractors and massage therapist on the premises but that isn’t usually found at the Y.
In addition to being fitness oriented and separating it from other gyms is it’s strong sense of community and involvement. There are regular activities and events here year round where you are likely to runs into friends and neighbors. There are even summer camps so you kids have a place to form lasting friendships around enriching activities.
My family move to the area 18 months ago and joined up here our 2^nd week. We’re likely going to be in Palm Harbor a long time and having places like this make that possible and enjoyable.
