This place was supposed to be the place to have our dream wedding. Had it turned out to be, it would’ve been hands down 5 stars. Instead, 2 is putting it nicely. This venue has no respect us or our bridal party. First, I am told I can use the office in the golf shop as a dressing room and to hold my personal belongings and the bridal party’s as well, only to be told and disturbed in the middle of our reception that we need to get everything out because the golf shop is closing. We proceed to tell the Food and Beverage Director, who says he’ll take care of it. What ends up happening is that we get our belongings locked in there! Then, at the end of the evening we had asked if we could pick up our belongings before 10:30am, since they had another function at 12pm the next day, for which we were told no problem. Here’s where there’s the spiral of downhill events: Our boxes to our lanterns, and our guest’s party favors on the tables were thrown away,(does anyone know each favor costs money and we borrowed those lanterns?!) our cousin’s camera was missing, our best friends jewelry went missing, and the kicker… several of our gifts which were in a box were missing! When we confronted the venue about our items, they were quiet without taking any ownership. As expensive as weddings cost, you’d think they’d have more respect since we were paying to buy the place for the night. Had we known they were just going to throw stuff away, we could’ve stayed and had others help us pick up. This place lacks respect and class towards paying guests. If you value your members so much, by wanting to go home, don’t have weddings on your property, and watch out for the staff to accuse your guests of missing items, rather than take ownership.

Not the best place or people to plan your wedding with. We should have known we were going to have problems with this venue the year prior to our wedding when every time we tried to get ahold of the food and beverage director in «charge» of our wedding, we had to basically chase him: call and email several times prior to getting a response(not the best of feelings with wedding planning). This venue is extremely unreliable and unprofessional. They rushed us out at the end of the night by throwing full plates of food away(we hired a taco guy for the end of the night and guests were not done eating), trashing everything from the tables including party favors(they didn’t even give us a chance to look through them.) The worst part of it is we had so many things missing from jewelry, to a camera, to several hundreds of dollars in cash that our guests gave us as gifts at the gift table(in card and envelopes of course). When we attempted to inform them of this the food and beverage director suggested members of my bridal party were to blame as they were«in and out of the rooms». They had to be due to the fact that the bride was locked out of one of the changing rooms with all our stuff in there at the end of the night so we asked our bridal party to move our things for us. We called every time we heard something else was missing and eventually they stopped returning our calls. The best part of the wedding was the banquet captain who had to leave as her shift was over, and everything went downhill from there. I’m extremely disappointed in their professionalism. We didn’t even receive an apology from them, nor did they validate our frustrations. What is most upsetting is our guests had things missing too which is an embarrassment when its your wedding. I would not do business with this vendor while they’re under their current supervision(other than the banquet captain).

A beautiful venue if you have a group that wants an affordable dinner for a special event. Highly recommended banquet department.

This country club may very well be the best value in the desert. Three nine hole courses that are in great condition with moderately fast greens. Although short by today’s standards it has 108 sand traps and 18 water hazards that are perfectly placed. Several holes offer magnificent views of the south and west mountains. The course also has 19 tennis courts of which 10 have lighting. The food service is very good as far as country clubs go. Service is very good. The best thing about Monterrey Country Club is the people. Members as well as staff. It is truly like family.

The tennis courts are in dis-repair. American Golf is at it again… no money for this once beautiful facility. They had the opportunity to spend money on resurfacing the courts a few years back, and the decided only to do a few of them. Now they have a handful of courts that are unplayable… and they will have more soon if they are not careful!

Review for the tennis facility only. This past weekend I got a chance to play tennis again at Monterey Country Club.(I played there two years ago for the first time). It’s a beautiful facility with a small pro shop. There are 19 lighted tennis courts. Many seem like they have been newly resurfaced. They are considered«slow» to tennis players. I enjoyed playing at the facility because my partner and I won our USTA Fall Doubles Sectionals match there. The center court seems like it’s a bit«faster» than the other courts and you’d expect that since it’s played on more than the other courts. Overall, a very nice tennis facility in a gated community.(I read Bob C.‘s review and I’m not sure if the court that I saw with no net is being resurfaced or something else). Xie Xie!

A beautiful course at a Palm Desert, CA country club. The staff was very friendly and the greens well taken care of. This course is definitely fun to play on.

A gorgeous location in the heart of Palm Desert, the Monterey Country Club hosted a very quaint, quiet and beautiful wedding for my best friend. The grounds were absolutely immaculate, with plenty of helpful personnel and staff around to approach with any question or need. They recommended the best locations near the greens that provided clean shots and good lighting for the photographer, made sure that every fine detail was combed over and got the wedding party whipped into timely shape for an organized wedding procession. We used the«locker rooms» within the main reception hall — which felt more like a gentleman’s lounge for smoking cigars, plus the perk of plenty of restrooms! The layout of the main hall provided easy access to the resort, locker rooms, banquet hall and bar(which made my life easy in running around for the bride and groom all night). Our bartender was an absolute blast of fun, knowledgeable and with a heavy pour she made every request I had easy and quick. Cindy, the wedding planner, kept everything under wraps and did a solid job with dealing with our large wedding party. The club does require you to dress appropriately — meaning no denim allowed, which started off as a bit of additional, stressful constraint for us as we were running back and forth between the rehearsal bbq and our cars. Luckily, they allowed us to temporarily occupy the premises in our informal wear to at least run to the locker rooms and get changed, so it didn’t end up being a hindrance in the long run. The service was great and we had tons of fun taking pictures on all the balconies and in front of the fountain. Truly was a great setup for a small wedding.
