Dan’s Wine Shop

Found this shop on Unilocal and the reviews are spot on. This is a great wine shop and prices are better than fair. I do have a soft spot for buying out of the case boxes and enjoy talking to and getting recommendations for someone in the business. Sipping on a Renwood old bone Zin and was well worth the price. Taking another suggested bottle home to my Frau for tasting as well. Your lucky to have this place Palm Desert!

The Best Wine Shop in the Desert
Dan is incredible. His shop stocks a tremendous range of wines, and Dan can speak informatively about virtually every one of them. The thing i like best about this shop, is that i can find the right wine, at the right price, for every circumstance. There are times when i want a big Cabernet to lay down — Dan helps me figure out the best option given my expressed preferences; There are times i need multiple cases of a great «drink now» wine for a big event, so i need the price to be stupidly low — again Dan makes great recommendations based on my price range and preferences. Sometimes, i want that monster Pinot that a label-​conscious friend will recognize — Dan delivers. Do not miss this shop if you are into wine, Dan is simply the best in the Coachella Valley.

Dan’s is a tiny wine shop on the side of 111 In Palm Desert. But what it makes up for in size are the incredible deals on more wines than you would think could fit in the store. Not always the largest selection, but you can always find a great wine to try. Very knowledgeable owner who’s just as excited for you to try something new as to get exactly what you’re looking for. There are bigger stores out there, but somehow Dan is able to beat their pricing and his infectious love of wine will keep you coming back for more…

I have been going to Dan’s Wine Shop for many years. I decided to write a review because of the influx of «big» competition. I checked out the «big» competition, and their prices were higher than Dan’s prices. Anyway, Dan is a great guy and he knows his wine. Although not a big location, Dan’s Wine Shop has a great selection of wines, including known brands and boutique gems. I check prices regularly on the internet, and Dan is typically priced below even the larger internet discounters. I also appreciate getting Dan’s emails, which are funny and include specials and new inventory. So if you need some wine, definitely check out Dan’s — and don’t be afraid to ask him for recommendations.

This is a small wine shop lacking flair and pretentiousness. Basically, wine in boxes or stacked on boxes allowing a simple foray around the store and the wine that is available.
There are some wines for the upper crust when it comes to cost but most of the wines are for us commoners. We have taken advantage of some deals as it’s always fun finding that NEW wine from an obscure vineyard.
You will notice some prominent names and there will be many you do not recognize. Ask Dan for help and he will guide you. There is a decent range of whites and reds.

The best thing about Dan’s wine shop is Dan. He knows what he has and he’s tasted every one, something very few wine retailers can offer. Thus, he can fit somethign to your taste. And your price, too, for his prices are very competitive. Once you’re a customer, Dan will remember you when you return and recall what you like. I must I’ve never really seen a place quite like this.

The inventory is a small selection with mostly California wines. There is no liquor. There are no steep discounts, but most bottles are at retail or a little less. Of course, they carry some commonly found wines, but there are also a few unique domestic bottles and harder-​to-​find import labels, of which, I bought one.

My wife and I love to purchase our wine at Dan’s Wine Shop! He is very knowledgeable about his wines and paring. Great place to come get your wine for any party or just to have a nice bottle waiting for you when you have had a long day. We have told all our friends about Dan’s Wine Shop. I happened to be having lunch across the street and saw this unassuming place. I wanted to get a bottle of wine for my mom so I could maintain my best daughter status by supplementing the already perfect birthday present I had purchased.
Dan was very cool and extremely helpful. I had a vague idea of what my mom liked, sweet white wine … and he had several good suggestions. He explained why each was good. I was looking at a rather expensive white and he steered me away to a far less expensive bottle that he thought my mom would like better. We ended up walking out with a couple bottles of wine when we went in with the intention of only buying one.
You can tell he’s a man that knows his stuff, he loves wine and he wants people to be happy with their choices. There were a couple of customers there when we got there and I sensed they were regulars. Easy parking, great friendly helpful and not pushy service. I thought it was great.
