The Bighorn Properties at the top of 74 in Palm Desert are probably as good as it gets in the Palm Desert/Springs communities. You are the top dog if you can afford to live here. The clubhouse, the gym facilities, and the restaurant are all 1st Class. Ironwood does have a beautiful golf course though and some great home spots and deserves a look too, but for living, we think Bighorn may edge it out. Bighorn residents get personal invitations to exclusive art shows and events including the annual Big Horn Bam. If you reside here, you are just 3.5 miles from the El Paseo shopping district, which is the Rodeo Drive of the Desert. In fact, we prefer it to Beverly Hills, because it’s less pretentious and more welcoming, and less touristy. Most folk don’t know its even there – its like having your own private upscale shopping district in your backyard. And there are great restaurants like Mastros on the block. Mastros will be the best steak you will ever have bar none. And don’t forget Armando’s Mexican on El Paseo – we crave the sizzling fajitas all the time – it’s the best dish. Around the corner from El Paseo is Trader Joes, Walgreens, Jensens, Target, and other large shopping. Everything you need close, including a Mall with Macy’s. Who does not like Macy’s? They just opened a Neighborhood Walmart if you turn left on the 111. Downtown Palm Springs is just 20 – 30 minutes down the 111 with a ton of stuff there too. Make a right on the 111 and head to the Nest for some dancing and weekend nightlife with a mainly 40’s to 70’s year old crowd – it’s the most fun place in the desert. If you like to cycle, feel free to ride up and down the bike lanes on 74 or Portola and you will be in tip-top condition in no time at all. We love cycling from Bighorn down to El Paseo and relaxing at Starbucks at the Coffee Bean and meeting the community.
