WOW! I have been in business for over 25 years for myself and run into many characters. None quite like the owner, Gene Whiting. I am the president of a condominium warehouse building in Stuart Florida. I hired Gene to re coat our roof recently and the job was completed in a reasonable time frame. Towards the end of the job, the other unit owners began complaining to me that the parking lot was full of oil stains left from his work vehicles as well as black tar or some roofing materials which had stained the entire driveway. I politely and professionally emailed Mr Whiting explaining that we had never done business before, and wanted to be sure he would return the property to the condition it was prior to his working there. ZERO response. Emailed again, sir did you get my email? On the third email I explained my feeling regarding courtesy to answering an email. Finally we spoke and he agreed place would be left cleaned up. I had my doubts so I told him straight up I would pay him $ 35,500 of the $ 36,000 owed, leaving a $ 500 balance protecting myself as well as my unit owners in the even my gut feeling was correct, and boy it was! I told him the only way this property would look good would be to pressure wash it. Instead his guy came for 7 minutes with a bottle of cleaner and a hose and left two white blotches making the situation worse. I called and spoke to a man who was actually not the owner but the CEO of the company who was quite nice. He said he would speak to the owner and work something out and get back to me. A couple weeks went by and I emailed the CEO and asked if there was a solution so our property could get cleaned up and I could happily pay the remaining $ 500 balance owed. I got an email back from the nasty owner stating that he would not be pressure washing anything for «free» and if I choose not to pay the bill he would void our warranty on the roof which was promised as part of the job. I have an 820 beacon score and have never not paid a bill in my life. But I will not be bullied by an obnoxious owner. STAY CLEAR!
