What I really like about this place is that they cater to non-Koreans. The times I’ve gone here, there have been people of other nationalities dining in and enjoying the food. As far as the food goes, there are much better places in the area. If you have Korean friends, then they’ll let you know where the hot spots are. But if you’re new the genre, then Hodori is the perfect place to wet your beak. All of the servers speak English and the menu is simple and straightforward. You won’t find live squid here, just your basic bibimbap and galbi dishes. And as with most Korean places, they use MSG. Prepare for headaches…

Food 2 Service 3.5 Ambiance 3 O/all 2.5 Food has gone down hill… not longer a favorite. Also saw a roach crawl up the side of the wall… which i dont personally mind but full disclosure to those who care. The other night for dinner they were severely lacking in the variety of banchan… not sure if it was an off night

Good lunch place(never eaten for dinner). Lots of food, big portions for cheap. They give you fried egg and mackerel before the meal starts(as banchan) and ice cream when you’re finished. All this for Lunch Special of like $ 8-$ 11 — pretty hard to beat. And the food is pretty good, too. Recommend if you find lunch places on Broad Ave to be too busy and parking impossible to find. You’ll walk out satisfied. I never give out 5 stars, but for a boon-shik place, this is as good as it gets around this part of town.

Excellent kimchi fried rice. Not too many vegetarian choices but you can find few things and food is good ! service is good but not perfect(minus star) will be back when in an area.

only been once, but been plenty to the closter location. food here is good and portions are bigger than most places in NJ. my go to foods are: jjambbong, dongkatsu, chickenkatsu, steamed dumplings, ddukboki, or jayukdupbap. it’s a challenge to finish the entire meal, they also give you icecream or a small yogurt drink at the end of the meal.

So, me and my coworkers go here so often for lunch, that we get something on the house every time. Usually a miniature army of steam or fried dumplings — which are so good!(My review hasn’t even started and I’m praising them…) The dumplings are plump and hot and delicious! Their dukbokki(spicy rice cakes) are apparently«better than Korea.» That’s saying a lot. My boss travels to Korea quite frequently, and indulges in the street foods but makes Hodori his first stop in the states… I find that slightly weird — but a great compliment for the restaurant! Their fried rice(any kind) is so yummy, their hot stone bowl dishes as well(I let mine sit for 5 minutes so the bottom can get nice and burnt. you will definitely see flying elbows as I scrub down the bottom of that bowl to get the goodies.) Their side dishes never change, you will always get a fried egg upon being seated, and grilled fish. The food comes out fast, hot and perfect. Their prices may seem a bit high, but once you see the portions, you’ll know why! Also, the menu is pretty extensive so try to bring a friend that’s familiar with Korean food. It’s the best when you go with a group of 4 or 5 and get an assortment of dishes. going solo, or with one other person leaves you craving for more, and unable to make a final selection — at least for me! Must. Try.

Unfortunately Hodori has raised their prices, portions a bit smaller, and the taste has lacked as of recently. I was a regular their and I could taste the differences in their soup broths going from really good to nothing special. It is still a solid place to get korean food but what I loved about this place was their big portions, good prices, and good food. I guess it’s now average portions, average prices, and average food = an average rating.

Delicious dukbogi. If I ever find my way around Fort Lee again I will come here and pay proper respects to the wonderful dukbogi.

One word, MSG. I have MSG allergies and about 2 hours after my meal I had an attack(swollen eyes/nose/throat, wheezing, sneezing, itchiness). They must use a lot. Was tempted to go back and tell them off about it. I hope they read this and respond by saying they’re going to stop using it. It’s too bad b/c korean food can be healthy with the fish and veggies(albeit generally salty which isn’t good). Overall I enjoyed the meal and thought I found a decent go to «boon shik» place. Had Tangsooyook(korean style sweet/sour pork) and chicken fried rice. Both were solid and the banchan was decent. Can’t go wrong with the ggong-chi(grilled sardine). Tangsooyook portion was a bit small though for a $ 16 dish.

I love korean restaurants like this so it is not hard to please me but I prefer any of the places in flushing or in ridgefield hmart than this place. Good decent Korean fast food.

My gf recommended this place and I was wowed by the huge portions. We came here after work. I got the fish stew/soup. It was really good and healthy compared to the junk was eating lately. My gf got omirice and the rice cake with spicy red sauce thing. The waitress knew we already ordered to much and said she will give boxes to take home food. The free kimchi stuff they give out is an over easy egg, mung beans, kimchi cabbage, seeweed, daikon, and they even give you a broiled fish. To our surprise, we did not need a to-go box. I still can’t believe we ate so much. They food was just that good. Or my gf have been hanging out with fatties to much. I hope its just the god food. They also serve fried chicken. I may have to try this place for«happy hour». Chicken and beer is a great thing.

Portions here are huge. If you order the omurice like I did, you’ll be alarmed at how huge the portion is because it’s big enough to feed a small village. Their kalguksu is also pretty good. I wouldn’t say the food tastes stellar(it’s not bad though), but if you’re looking for a low key spot to grab dinner with a friend, then this is a good spot to check out. I also recommend going with a smaller group because there isn’t much space for parking, and the restaurant itself is small.

most of the food on the menu are winners especially the soup dishes. i must say that we go here at least once a week and sometimes order pick up a few times. stick with the soup dishes and meat based dishes and you won’t be disappointed. i’d recommend eating in the restaurant if possible because the side dishes are better than the pick up version. at the restaurant you get an over easy fried egg and a whole grill fish before your order comes out. the side dishes(ban chan) in korean restaurants are complementary and you are not charged for this. also, the end of the meal is always accompanied with a small shot size of yogurt soft drink(without the fuzz). i just wish that they would start delivering…

A regular Sunday lunch spot for me and the family. Portions are pretty generous and prices are fair for a korean spot. My boys always love coming here to eat. Service is good and restaurant is very clean and welcoming. I have yet to eat something here that I didn’t like.

A smaller place, but very inviting with cozy décor. Prices are pretty good, and I was very satisfied with their tteokbokki and fried rice dishes. Very delicious, a standout among the plethora of local Korean joints.

looks like a hole in the wall, but its WONDERFUL korean food. Every time we’ve been to this place, we’re the only white people around. Fresh food and large portions, moderate price. Try the octopus rice bowl — out of this world!

I swear they have the best mool neng myung(cold noodle)!!! I LOVEIT!!! Wooooow, so delicious! The super skinny chewy noodle was excellent and the cold slushy beef broth was also tasty and refreshing! It’s a perfect dish for summer! And no one has reviewed this place yet??? This place must be new then! I might as well introduce all of you to my fantastic discovery!!! Another FTR! Yay! After spending my wonderfully relaxing afternoon at a Korean Spa(King Spa Sauna ), I was craving for something Korean so I decided to try this place for the first time. Almost all the customers are Korean and it’s just a regular casual restaurant with very simple décor, nothing fancy. From the complimentary appetizers(banchan) to the entrees, everything we ate was smashing(except kimchi… too salty. But kaktugi was decent.) And the price is reasonable too! I’m tempted to give 5 stars but I’m going to wait until I come back to try other dishes. P. S. — At the end of the meal they give you free yummy probiotic beverage(Korean version of Yakult). Love it!!!
