Mesa park was the perfect spot to visit on a hot afternoon. It was cool inside, and the owner was incredibly welcoming and friendly. It is very quant, which can make it trickier for more than 2 people in each group. But it didn’t cramp our style, only made us closer! We really enjoyed Mesa Park’s Red wines.

This is a very friendly tasting room — you will get to taste some lovely wines(especially reds — I love the Barn Owl and I love the Cabernet Sauvignon especially). These wines have a lot of flavor but they are readily drinkable — not the sort that you lay down for years. I like that. The tasting room is lovely and the owners/winemakers are great fun. Definitely put this on your tasting tour!

Chuck is an incredible winemaker. Every time we come here, we feel more than welcome. The Barn Owl is a favorite wine, but just to hang out and listen to everyone’s stories, and enjoy the company, makes this place a great stop.

Mesa park is awesome! The Merlot was amazing and I don’t really like merlot. The red blend was amazing as well! It was called the red barn owl. Good value wines here for sure!

Laid back and relaxed. Small operation but very good wines and wine making techniques. We liked the Viognier and Cabernet Franc.

Owner Pat was as sweet as her Fins dessert wine we took home. Like the shark fin it’s named after it’s a killer attack of raspberries. Also liked the family reserve blend but took home the Cab Franc. It’s delicious. They have the nicest in-production house tasting room in Palisades.

This was our second winery in the area. The first winery sent us this way. We are happy they did. We had an amazing time with Chuck. Learning about everything they have been through and how they keep this place going. They are doing good work as well. We walked away with a few bottles. Chuck was extremely friendly and answered all my annoying questions. Free tastings. A cute little tasting room. I am glad we stopped here with the number of wineries in the area. We learned a ton and enjoyed the time. My favorite was probably their Rose. If back in the area, we would stop again to continue our chat with Chuck.

We started our trip with this winery, and it is going to be hard to beat. Die-hard red drinkers, we even liked the whites. We bought the Family reserve red($ 20), the Rose($ 18 I think?), and the Barn Owl White($ 15), with $ 5 off for buying three. Some grapes are sourced here, others from elsewhere … Frankly, that probably contributed to the quality of the wines. So, besides the fairly priced and tasty wines(we are regular wine tasters in Napa and Sonoma), the atmosphere was fun. It was hopping on the Fourth of July! And even so, the owners took time to talk with everyone. Make everyone feel welcome. Make you feel like an invited guest. Introduce you to other wine tasters so you feel like you belong. The net result — we can’t wait to see them at the Castle Rock Wine Fest later this month, and to visit them again! Free, generous pours btw.

This was one of our favorite wineries on a recent trip to Palisade. Incredibly friendly owners– as another Unilocaler mentioned, it was like talking with old friends. This was the last stop and we ended up staying there for a few hours talking and drinking wine with Chuck, who kept topping off our glasses. Their wines were all delicious– we ended up taking home a bottle of 2010 Cab Sauv and doubt it will be on the rack for long! Will be back!

This was one of my favorites. The owner was laid back and easy to talk to. He was friendly and so incredibly genuine. I forgot that I was there to taste wines… it felt like I was having a drink with a long-lost friend. I also *really* enjoyed his wine. The rose was phenomenal, his red blends were sumptuous, and even though I hate dessert wines, his was palatable.(Hey, palatable is high praise for a dessert wine. Blech.) I haven’t opened any of the wines I bought. I keep going through my «lesser» wine and saving his wine for a more special occasion– company, date night with the husband… whatever. I highly recommend making the stop to visit Mesa Park.

We ended up leaving with three bottles, especially since its $ 5 off the third. Both«Barn Owl» red and white varieties are great. The attendant and maker were both very nice and pleasant to talk to. The tasting room is comfy. Some of the better wineries are off the beaten path!

This report is long overdue, but I wanted to make sure that people knew how great this place is since it didn’t have any other reviews. My husband and I were able to do some touring of the CO vineyards thanks to Hurricane Sandy delaying our flight home. Mesa Park was the first place we hit — at 10:30AM on a Monday morning — and it set our day off on a great foot. We went to Sonoma last year and I can say that this is a 180 degree departure from the vineyards out there… in the best way possible. The wine itself is fantastic — that isn’t what is different from CA — make no mistake. The fact that we were able to drive in there, have the owner walk over from raking leaves and flip the Closed sign to Open and then talk with us for 30 minutes about the history of his vineyard and his winemaking(and just general breeze shooting) while serving us his array of fantastic wines… it was just light years more personal than the enormous(albeit beautiful) tasting rooms of CA wine country. You could tell that the owner really loved his wine and wanted to share it with people. The tasting room is attractive and cozy but doesn’t have a ton of space, so probably not ideal for a bus load of people… but then again, I don’t think that’s such a bad thing. I went into Mesa Park not knowing that there were even vineyards in CO at all and came out with not only a respect for the state’s wines but also a love for the easygoing and laid back atmosphere of the Palisades area wine country. We went to Hermosa next with the same reaction. Highly, highly recommended :)
