Al’s Bbq Pit

I’m not sure where they’re located — certainly not at the address on Unilocal.But I saw them at a First Friday celebration in Wailuku and the food was excellent. I had the steak plate, and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I took off one star for the gristle that I normally would cut off but it was dark so kind of like a pot luck for the gristly parts.

In October 2015 we were in Kiehi shopping had no idea there was a wonderful gathering of food trucks and music playing and merchants displaying their talented craftsmanship outside
Well, you could say that Big Al’s BBQ has a talent craftsmanship all of their own. YUM!!!
My husband and I walked the length of all the food trucks, I’m sure they were good too but oh the wonderful smell was the first key that was the one for dinner. The lines of people gave us an idea too. Yes after ordering there is s bit of a wait but that gave me an opportunity to say Aloha to people around me The food was so worth the wait. It tasted Fantastic! A deep rich flavor that was so delicious. I’m not much for food truck food but this was a five star restaurant food if served on a nice table place setting.
It’s was a fun experience too I met the man himself «Al» I thanked him and complemented his food. He talked to me as if I was one of his closest friends He’s a very kind man and passionate about what he does.
The food portions are very generous and so affordable, the staff were friendly too
A must do, try them you will not be disappointed

Wow, this place is awesome. Unsure what to think first time we stopped by, we were blown away by the steak plate. The mac is awesome too. Liked it so much we drove 10 miles out of our way to grab it again before we left. Thanks!

If you’re ever in Kahului Maui you gotta stop at this BBQ pit place. It is so unbelievably delicious. Aloha! Mahalo for the grinds.

We stopped by after a long hike and we’re very happy we did! Al was very nice and warm. But more importantly the food was EXCELLENT! We got the shrimp and steak plate. The portions are great because it was enough for us to share. The steak was tender and flavorful and the shrimp was marinated to perfection!
Overall this place is amazing Hawaiian style bbq and hopefully we can stop by again before our trip is over. Thanks Al!

We left the airport in search of a local food place and found Al’s BBQ and we were NOT disappointed!!! We had steak fried rice and the steak and shrimp. We talked with Al for a few mins and he was friendly as well. We will eat here again for sure! :)

GREAT FOOD!!! Onolicious!!! Rice, Mac salad, steamed veggies and plenty of meat!!! (We had steak & chicken with pork adobo fried rice) With that very flavorful sauce all over! love the friendly customer service! Very adorable! It’s a very MUST TRY!!! Trust me!
I will be going back for sure!!!
Perfect location! Could just bring a beach chair or pop down your tail gate and just have lunch with a great view and breeze

These guys are new to the Wailuku First Friday event, and what a great addition they are! It’s not southern style BBQ that’s doused with sauces, but marinated meats that are barbecued, exactly what I like.
MENU:
Steak, chicken, pork and shrimp plates and skewers.
FOOD:
Shrimp & Veggie Skewer — The $ 3 skewer had 2 pieces of shrimp, red & orange bell peppers, zucchini and a mushroom. It had a nice barbecued smoked flavor and was a great accompaniment to the steak dish.
Marinated Steak Plate — The $ 10 sliced steak was tender, a bit fatty, cooked to medium perfection, and had a delicious sweet & savory flavor, laid on top of steamed cabbage & carrots, with 2 scoops of rice drizzled with the same sauce its marinated with. Portion size was very generous.
Skewer Plate — For $ 10 you can mix and match any skewer combo, so I got the chicken, steak, and shrimp/​veggie skewers plate, which came with 2 scoops of rice and steamed/​blanched cabbage. The chicken was tender and flavored with a sweet teriyaki glaze. The steak was well done, tender, and flavorful. The veggies/​shrimp were crunchy & fresh.
SERVICE:
The staff are friendly and will answer all the questions you have about their menu. Plates may take a while but it’s worth the wait as everything is fresh and hot.

OVERALL:
Good taste, portions, and price.

This is our favorite place to grab lunch! The food is always amazing! Living on Maui, there are so many places to choose from, but Al’s BBQ is one of a kind. We always look forward to eating here!
