we used to order take out a lot because it was a great value. then there were staff changes and our orders were often wrong, and the staff got surly when explaining the problem to them. the final straw was waiting for our to go order from the kitchen. our order was not filled but the cook brought out a big bowl of saimin and took a break. a few minutes later the cashier said our order was ready and that was not correct. she had filled one to go box with items from the buffet line, instead of what we ordered. it wasn’t food we liked either. the alternative I & l barbecue in pahoa where they take care to get the order right and provide a great value

We used to get food here often. Then we got the eggplant dish, which was one of our faves, and there was a BIG cockroach lying there dead in the goo. Hmmm, now my family refuses to go anymore. Too bad. But how the heck do you miss seeing a BUG that BIG? Too gross.

I’ve been here more times than I can count. I usually order the hamburger steak or the chicken katsu. It’s usually very tasty. Friendly customer service and reasonable prices. Parking is always convenient.

Large portions and inexpensive. I had the mixed BBQ Hawaiian plate which had substantial amounts of short ribs, steak and chicken. Everything was tender and cooked perfectly. The plate also had the standard rice and macaroni salad. There is a small basic dining area but many took there food to go. A great bargain if you like Chinese food.

Pretty dirty inside. The food did not look very appetizing or fresh. I was greeted with a «Conditional Pass» health inspection posted conspicuously on the door. We looked inside and walked right back out to find somewhere else to eat.
We dubbed the place the, «No 1 eats here chinese BBQ»

If you’re digging out the change from under your car seats to get something to eat then this is the place to go ! 4 slices of bacon, 2 eggs, 2 scoops of rice… $ 3.45 !!! My friend got french toast for $ 2.50. And it was good ! Yeah the dining room is a dump but I can overlook that for those prices !
WAYYYY better than McDonalds. And yes they have free tap water and cups out for self service.
I like this Pahoa location a LOT more than the Hilo location of the same name.

One of my absolute favorite food is Mochiko Chicken and this place has the best I have ever tasted! Moist and Crispy and Tasty! I usually get it with the fried noodles! This makes for a very nice and filling lunch. The portions are huge and the price just right! They have the best Chinese food in Pahoa!
