Gander Mountain – Paducah Store

I used to spend upwards of $ 500 a month at this store. I noticed that a lot of their products are priced a bit higher than average but if you pay attention to the deals, they aren’t exactly deals.
Particularly with ammunition. 223 goes for about $ 12 a box of 20. 55.6 was $ 9. So there’s that. But the kicker that lost my business for good would be them raising 55.6 box of 20 from $ 9 to $ 15 when right down the road at Rural King they sell it for $ 8.50 a box. I also noticed gander mountain’s «value» pack of 120 of 55.6 for $ 69.00 compared to $ 54 buying 20 round boxes before the price hike. If you pay attention to the prices the deals, really aren’t.

This is depressing. I went and found a few clothing items that I liked, but was looking for a streamlight for my pistol. Unfortunately, when I needed help everyone kept not seeing me. Now do understand that I am a six foot tall, 56 inch chest, 285 pound black guy, so it’s hard to miss me when I’m standing 5 feet away from you looking over the counter at you. Here’s the kicker, so when I finally said hello sir, I need help to find a light for my pistol, he directed me to the other end of the store, and said «let me see if I can help these other people.» so me and my wife just went to the other end of the counter and looked through the glass because no one could see me in my big red Polo Shirt. A guy even walked past me to a couple of guys and asked if they need anything, And then went the other direction again past me. I get if I need help, ask, but then I should not have to beg for it. It’s the day before veterans day, I’m an active duty Soldier, and this is the kind of redneck garbage that likes to say «we support the troops.»
We simply decided we will not shop at this store, period. It’s the second time this happened, I figured the first time I went in there they were busy and let it slide. Now I just find it disgusting and pathetic.

If you like hunting, fishing, camping, and outdoor sports this is a great Big Mart for you.

I went to Gander Mountain to look for a good pair of hiking shoes. I asked the sales associate to help me pick a really good pair. I found some I really liked but they weren’t in my size, so she went to check other stores to see if they could send them. While she was doing that, I thought I would pick another pair just in case. I went to her with them and she continued to call on the pair I had liked. After many calls, she finally found a pair in my size. Glad she found them, because they ended up being 50% off. I ended up saving $ 70 because the associate went out of her way to help me… great experience!
