The only reason we came here is because they were open late & we needed to eat. We waited an hour & a half for a BLT, fries, chicken strips & onion rings. when it finally came, after my husband went looking for the waitress to ask about it, the onion rings were so greasy they dripped when you tried to eat them, I didn’t. The waitress offered to take them off the bill but I was so over being there that I didn’t want to wait around for her to adjust the bill. Loud & lousy. Don’t waste your time.

Went here last night before the drinking crowd with a few families after skiing all day. We had a few kiddos with us but it was fine. They have a kids menu. I think they allow kids till 9 pm. Basic bar food but good. Service was really good. I think this is my new spot for dinner after skiing.

Place is a nice dive bar. Wife and I both got the prime rib dinner specials, which were excellent. Waitress was very attentive and alcoholic beverages were really well priced. Highly recommend

This is 1 of 2 restaurants in Packwood. Been there twice. Food is just horrendous. Better to go hungry.

Good food, good beer, good atmosphere. They missed the 5th star, because I was more impressed the first night, than I was the 2nd. That being said we did finish both meals and they were good! But the burgers the first night couldn’t be beat. Highly recommend if you’re in the Packwood area

I’ll tell you– if you are travelling– get a table– only the«locals» are welcome at the bar. Quite a cast of characters. This place has absolutely zero charm. But the burgers are kick-ass good. And out waitress– well, let me just say she was more attentive and gave better service than most ‘upscale’ restaurants we’ve been to.

Was recommended this restaurant by the hotel front desk. I am happy with the recommendation. It is great for a bar/restaurant in the middle of nowhere. My group ordered three items. The Captain’s Plate(there is a picture of it), the half rack of BBQ ribs, and the Reuben. The food came very quickly, which was a nice surprise. The Reuben is a sandwich with cheese, mayo, cornbread, and corned beef. It was too salty, according to one of us, and fine for the other. The BBQ ribs were, according to the person who ordered it, great. The Captain’s Plate is a plate that comes with fried seafood. Prawns, oysters, shrimp, and cod. It also comes with a roll, a side with the choice of fries, tots, potato, or salad, and 2 sauces. Tartar, and some other white sauce. It was fried perfectly. The seafood was crispy, and not too oily at the same time. I took the picture after eating a few pieces because it was too good. lol Service was good. The waitress didn’t charge for a drink refill, and didn’t ever mess up. This is probably one of the best, if not the best, restaurant in this small town.

Two things. This place is definitely a dive bar and the food is amazing. I highly recommend the jalapeño burger w/bacon. Go with the beer battered over the steak fries. You won’t be sorry.

I was pleasantly surprised by this typical dive bar in the middle of(almost) nowhere. I mentally prepped myself as I walked through the doors to not expect much from this bar, but I soon discovered that I had found a diamond in the rough. A place that’s true to its core and genuine, something a lot of restaurants/bars lack these days. The breakfast was on point and everything was really delicious. So much so that we went back for a second helping the next day. Hands-down, they had the best country fried steak I have ever had. I’m kind of a country fried steak fan, and most the time a lot of places leave me disappointed. Blue Spruce wins the top spot as far as I’m concerned. The selection of beer here is also very good. I was borderline overwhelmed by the amount of microbrews they had both on tap and bottled(Awesomeness = beer and bacon at the same time). The waitress, who was also the bartender, was very down to earth and accommodating. She brought us our food out back and let us enjoy the warm summer day. Great experience overall. Highly recommended.

The food is pretty decent, but the staff is another thing. Each time we’ve eaten at the Blue Spruce, we sit at the bar. The bartenders/waitresses always seem to be put out doing their jobs. They have been surly, inattentive, cold, bored and rude. While the Spruce is one of the very few places to eat in Packwood, the owner/management needs to get a handle on this.

It was surprisingly crowded on a cold Saturday night. But I guess it is pretty popular with everyone who is staying in town for White Pass. We came in around 8 for dinner. Starving after spending all day being shredded by the gnar. It’s just a divey bar, has the standard arcade game fare, pool, and shuffleboard. Note the shuffleboard table has only 6 pucks and they are the heaviest slowest pucks I’ve ever thrown. I had the jalapeño burger. I don’t know if i was just that hungry but it was pretty damn good. And the potato salad was true PNW style. Mayo, Mustard, Chopped Pickle. Throw some Maker’s for under $ 7 each and you had me at hello. Everyone who ordered steak fries regretted it. Stick to the salad or the beer battered fries. Service was on top of things even in a very busy bar. It’s not like you have very many options, but you could do a lot worse.

Good food, but they got overwhelmed really easily when we were here over Labor Day and it was crowded. It was a bit pricey, but considering there weren’t a whole lot of choices in Packwood, it wasn’t bad. We ate here for breakfast a few different times. The food was pretty decent greasy-spoon type food. Oh, and there are some funky acoustics going on in the bathroom. Standing in a stall I could hear my family at a table across the room. It literally sounded as though their table was outside the bathroom door– it was clear enough that I could pick out individual voices. My brother said the same thing happened in the men’s bathroom.

We had some time to kill before our cabin check-in time down the road, so we decided to pop on in to the Blue Spruce. Mainly because it was one of only two bars in the immediate area and it looked the least shady. We came in around 12:30 and we were the only people there. This surprised me because I don’t know what else there is to do in town besides shop at the overpriced IGA across the street or drink heavily at this bar. Waitress was very prompt and poured a pretty strong and inexpensive gin and tonic. They had a cute little beer garden/yard with games of Horseshoes, so we went out there to enjoy the sunshine and drink until it was time to head over to the cabin. I had no problems with the customer service and the place did what it was supposed to do, which was kill time. Next time I am in Packwood(and oh, I WILL be back!), I will be making this place part of my rounds.
