Yuliya Barsky Music Studio

Having taken piano for over a decade in my youth, I wanted to give my daughter the same joy I had with my wonderful piano teacher. I could not have found a more amazing teacher than in Yuliya.
My daughter has learned more in a year of weekly classes than I ever imagined. Yuliya has a great balance of knowing when to push and encourage a student, and when to ease back. There are also many fantastic recitals that allow the students to experience sharing their new musical skills with their peers.

I also took piano lessons with Yuliya for a very long time (about 10 years). I went from playing very simple one-​finger-​at-​a-​time child songs to playing the entire Moonlight Sonata, which was quite an accomplishment for me, in addition to many other challenging pieces. Piano was an incredible gift to me and an integral part of my childhood, and Yuliya was instrumental in that.
Yuliya is a gifted teacher who is patient, talented, and knows how to guide a student from their musical beginnings step-​by-​step through each of the learning milestones that come with cultivating one’s piano abilities, whether it’s playing different notes with each hand or playing fast for the first time or handling difficult chords and transitions. She’s also very skilled and experienced with guiding students through the sometimes arduous process of learning a new composition measure by measure, and is great at calibrating when to introduce a new piece of music that will challenge the student enough to grow but not enough to get overwhelmed.
I also got the opportunity to play in many recitals growing up, which she organized and facilitated for all of her students who wished to play, and I even entered a competition. She also brought out in me, which I am forever grateful for, the ability to really feel and express the emotional undertones of the music I played; I value this more than any other aspect of my time learning piano with Yuliya, in large part because it allowed me to connect to the music at a deeper level and to touch the hearts and emotions of others when playing.
