Village Books

Beautiful little shop that sadly closed a few days ago. As if overnight they closed up and it’s vacant now. :(

It is ok. Not really a big selection though.

Yesterday in this bookstore I was floored. By the floor.
The murals and quotes on the rustic surface beneath my feet were so attention-​grabbing that I never even looked at the books.
I guessed that the floor was very very old, but no… only about 14 years, I was told. Nevertheless, the setting took me back in time, to perhaps Hyde Park in Chicago, and I was duly charmed.
How very lovely it was to wander the Palisades farmer’s market on a perfect weather day & cap off the afternoon’s adventures with a visit to this delightful little shop. No wonder it’s considered a local treasure boasting a string of 5-​star reviews.
I ended up inside to pay for a Village Books t-​shirt I found on a rack outside the store. Didn’t care about the lettering… it was 10 bucks, soft cotton, and it would fit, good enough.
But now that I’ve experienced the interior of the bookstore, I will wear that tee with pride.

A true local bookstore that has terrific, friendly and knowledgeable service for all who visit. Remember when patrons were remembered by name? Well this cozy, wall-​to-​wall bookstore brings you back to the days when customers mattered. It’s really great to take advantage of there book signings and other events that they host throughout the year too. If you ever need a recommendation for a good book the employees at Village Books collectively have probably read them all so you are in good hands. I can’t wait to go back!

This is the best book store I have ever been to. The employees read every book (even the kid’s books) so you know they know what they’re talking about. Please help support it! It’s a small bookstore with a mean landlord, so they need all the they can get.

Though it is a small bookstore it has a great selection. Further, they are always willing to order things if you can’t find what you want.
I love to browse especially since the front of the store often has the store employee picks and book club choices which lead to books I might not have otherwise discovered. Much better than just looking on

Lastly, the store employees are very helpful and always cheerful and don’t rush you out so you have plenty of time to look for more books than you knew you wanted.

After a day of dealing with idiots from movieland this bookstore is calm, clear pool of thought, sure to refresh the most battered of brains, so please go for a dip: the cordial staff is the cherry on top of that literature sundae!

I wandered into this bookstore while perusing the farmer’s market, and I didn’t want to leave! Little notes posted all over the small shop with staffer’s picks. Great collection that any avid reader would appreciate. PLUS a section where local book clubs post the next book! Don’t forget about the LA local flavor section too. I didn’t look through the kiddie’s section, but it looked promising. I can’t wait to go back again!!!

Bring your business here! They need you and provide the best customer service in a book store! If they do not carry the book you want, they will order it for you. They have gift wrap, gift cards, and the best employees. I love this bookstore and frequently wish I could spend hours in here. They often have book readings and signings too. Drop by and appreciate the small town homey feel.

Decided to drive through my old stomping grounds and stop by this little bookstore I used to peruse back in the day.
Independent bookshops are few and far between these days and although this store by no means has the quantity nor selection that a Borders or Barnes has, what it does have is a sense of personalization in that there are handwritten reviews of the various books that were read.
It’s a quaint little shop with just enough books to find what you need right in the middle of the Palisades.
