Point Pinos Grill

After our FANTASTIC BREAKFAST on New Years day we were excited to come back and enjoy it again… we were DISAPPOINTED!!!
Now first the service is great. The servers are attentive… helpful and good at what they do. The view is nice and the restaurant is a nice place to be.
FOOD…first time amazing… this time… not so much! The hash browns were cooked in what tasted like really old grease… the pancake was not as fluffy and also had a slight taste of the greasy-​ness. Let us just say that taste lasted for most of the day… the egg was cooked well and tasted fine. We were so happy to find a place that did hash browns and so pleased with the quality of the food the first time that this sure was a let down. We live just up the street but we will not be back… sigh…hoping it was just a fluke but not willing to spend our hard earned cash to see …
(I suppose we could have said something but trust me they cannot clean the grill and get fresh cooking oil in a short amount of time to do it the right way so figured there was no point)

Went to Monterey Bay area for valentine’s day weekend. Restaurant is next to a golf course and near the beach, so the view was very nice. Arrived here during lunch time and the menu options for lunch had a lot of items. The atmosphere felt really home like because there were couches to sit on, a fireplace, and it’s shaped like a house too. There’s outside seating as well but it’s cold that day. Customer service here is great and on point. They were trying to get to know us such as asking where we’re from or just how’s our day. They liked to make jokes and they really did make me laugh a lot.
Food part:
I checked in on Unilocal and got a free bowl of soup. I wanted butternut squash but they ran out so I ordered the clam chowder. Wow the clam chowder was probably the best I had in a while. It’s not very liquidy/​watery and it’s kinda chunky and creamy. Aw man I was in love with it after the first sip. The soup comes with a side packet of oyster crackers.
I ordered the fish and chips, and my bf ordered the crispy chicken sandwich.
— fish and chips: the fishies were huge! We were so surprised. Three big pieces of fish, fries, coleslaw, side of tartar sauce and side of ketchup. The meat inside the fish is soft and fresh! I thought the taste of the crust/​fried part was unusual, but dipping it in the tartar sauce blocked out the taste so not a biggie. The con about this dish was the fries were too salty.
— crispy chicken sandwich: Definitely crispy, no lie! I only took a bite and it’s tasty. All the ingredients taste compliment each other and the sandwich itself is huge even though it’s cut in half. This came with kettle chips also.
Food here is pretty good! I would recommend it.

Big surprise here. Only restaurant in the area and they have excellent food, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Come here to avoid the crowds and enjoy an awesome meal.

Happened to be in the area and it was lunchtime, so we checked it out. Seems to be part of the golf course but open to the public. Nice views and ambiance. Also has a dog — friendly patio.
The service was slow to start, but once it got going it was great. The food was just okay, but they seem to have plenty of regulars.
It was good for what we needed, and I wouldn’t have any issue with returning, but I’m not sure I’d go out of my way for this place.

Great food and excellent service. We had the artichokes, New England clam chowder, bistro steak, and fish and chips. All were very delicious. Artichoke was my fav. Wait staff was very attentive– Leah was great! Love that the patio is dog friendly. We had a sunset dinner outside with ocean views. Perfecto.

We ate here a ton on our trip and I have to say everything on the menu was awesome.
Additionally the service was pretty darn good or rather exceptional each time we ate here. Thanks a ton!

We came in at 7pm on a Monday night, the restaurant was empty (it should have made me doubt the quality of the place).
Ambiance was non existent, food was overcooked, lemon was stale. Overall not a good restaurant. Not recommended

I love their homemade chips! It is perfect place for lunch after golf.

We came here on a whim on a very busy Sunday. Everywhere on cannery row had an hour wait. We walked right in to this restaurant and had a seat inside with a gorgeous view of The Ocean and the greens.
Our servers were very friendly and attentive. The Bloody Mary was delicious. We had a free bowl of chowder for checking in. I found it better than the wharf chowders. Very thick and tasty with plenty of bacon. Just the way I like it. I had the fish and chips which were killer and the wife has a beautiful Cobb salad. We both had a beer and I had a great latte post meal.
We thought we had found or new favorite spot and brought my mother and stepdad in last weekend to find out they are closed indefinitely. Please whoever runs this page message me when you reopen and I will be there again for happy hour and a sunset.

We came because the reviews were very good. I purchased a discount coupon which required us to purchase $ 50. This was our only vacation for the entire year. A weekend in Pacific Grove. So, Monday morning came about and we headed down to Pt Pinos Grill.
We were seated right away. …We came near 11 am… so we had a choice of selecting breakfast or lunch. Half of us wanted breakfast and the others wanted lunch… so we rush the breakfast order in… both Eggs benedict and then ordered the lunch shortly after… after about 10 minutes the waitress came and announced that they could not serve us … that the water main to the golf course was broken… and they had no water… so they could not complete the meal. I explained to them that I had a coupon that we needed to use. After a bit of discussion, they said they could bring out the Eggs Benedict since that part was completed. When they brought those out. One of the yolks was clearly broken. And when we tried out the others … they were solid not runny. This such a disappointment. Then the waitress said they could not honor our coupon as all. And they we had to come back. We don’t know when that would be… We will probably lose the coupon before that happens.
So the food was not up to standard and a disappointment. I would have thought they would have done something for us since we had planned on coming here … but they did not.
A big disappointment

My friend and I went to Pinos Point Grill in search of a filling, tasty breakfast. After looking at the menu and the wide range of options, we both decided on the «Bogie» breakfast which consisted of fresh fruit, two eggs, two slices of brown sugar coated bacon and half of a Belgium waffle.
Our orders were prepared quickly and the food looked delicious. I had scrambled eggs and thought they were near perfect. I bit into the bacon and thought it tasted too sweet. I was excited to try the waffle and was sorely disappointed. The waffle tasted stale and the syrup tasted odd. I also ordered a cup of coffee and thought the blend was delicious.
Although I was disappointed with the breakfast, I am willing to come back to try lunch. I was impressed with the menu’s variety and would like to give them another chance to redeem themselves.
A few things to note about the restaurant:
The location is pretty and if you sit outside you can see deer frolicking on the golf greens.
The staff is friendly and attentive.

Honey is an awesome sever, all the choices here are fresh and organic if you choose. Tons of beers on tap and full bar as well. Love the golf course view with the bar and tavern feel. Awesome.

Stopped by after we read reviews on their chicken and waffles. Unfortunately, it was lunch time and they weren’t serving it at the time. Service was great and the place was beautiful. I really didn’t care for what i ended up ordering. I had some fish and chips. The fish batter was soggy and didn’t have much taste. :-(

Situated on a golf course with views of the ocean. Why not ?
The population here is on the older side. Unexpected But that didn’t stop us.
They ran out of a couple things such as bloody mary mix and quinoa for the salad.
This really lowered our expectations, but surprisingly our drinks (a mod almond joy and champagne cocktail) tasted yummy.
The food hit the spot. The chicken sandwich with bacon and avocado and the cheese panini with tomato soup were fantastic.
Service good.

I don’t know what it is about the chicken and waffles (maybe the fact we don’t have a Roscoe’s near by) but it is deng good! Their chicken holds up high with places who specialize in fried chicken. Great views of the ocean and greens.

Great place great location 1 min away from. a pacific coast! We ordered huevos rancheros very tasty with black refried beans alone with platanos. We also had the chicken fried steak plate which comes with hash browns, eggs, very satisfying!!! The employees are friendly and tended to us and came back a few times to check in everything was great!

Great food and a Great View
We went for breakfast, and it was outstanding! Perfect eggs benedict, and the½ waffle was amazing. Indoor and outdoor seating. Fireplace indoors, a great view of the crashing waves of the Pacific outside. Situated on a golf course, but in this case that’s a plus instead of a minus. Don’t miss this almost hidden find!

Love the outdoor seating or the warm fireplace seating inside.
They also have a full bar and televisions in a separate area.

Good happy hour deals on drinks. A pleasant place to catch the big game. Service was pretty good. The salmon taco special was pretty bad. Salmon seemed overcooked and mushy and was served with some kind of *sweet* black goo on the tortillas. Nothing spicy like salsa or seasoning. (I added some hot sauce.) The little side salad was pretty good if unspectacular. The side of fries was tasty, but they were very uneven in temperature.
I hear that the breakfast/​brunch is good and may come back for that.

GREAT BREAKFAST JOINT
My wife & I had a super breakfast here, and we suspect the lunches and dinners are just as good.
We each had the «Birdie.» It was 2 eggs with Brown Sugar Pepper Bacon and ½ Waffle. Also, a little fruit. It was an excellent meal.
This is not your typical golf course restaurant — it is far superior to most.
