This is great for a laid back night. The bar is nice and people are friendly. We ordered the specials. Lobster was great and my blackened ahi tuna salad was amaZing. It was sweet with a spicy kick in the end. Good food and good service. Great location near the bay. The dessert menu was good. We had the lava cake With ice cream on top. I would definitely come back!

Celebrated the 6-month anniversary with my gf here while on vacation. Comfortable seating, great view and great value with the Happy Hour dinner specials, $ 12.95 from 4−6pm…your choice of 5 entrees along with salad and chef’s dessert) She had the grilled salmon and I had the market steak, which we both devoured. Like another Unilocaler said, the front entrance and hostess area is like a shrine to the owner who apparently is a local TV chef, and all the pictures, articles and even the cooking videos playing in the lounge area were a little off-putting. Service was fast initially, but lagged a bit in the middle, as we waited 15 minutes or so for dessert to arrive after our plates were removed. The dessert was really cool, though… like a cheesecake filled cinnamon-sugared churro with a dollop of whipped cream on the side and a little cup with dried ice smoking away right next to it. Got a lot of attention as it was delivered to our tables… kinda neat. A solid 3 stars… A-OK.

This place was really, really impressive. Not because of the food, which was very good. Not because of the views, which were great. Not because of the service, which was prompt and efficient No no no, this place was really, really impressive because they were able to satisfy all three of these criteria on a Concourse weekend, on a Saturday night no less, when, put simply, restaurants in the Monterey are about as busy as they ever get, was, well… you get the idea. Worth a stop, Unilocalers.

The latenight live band, I love… grab a few drinks, sit back, and enjoy the show. Or, if you prefer the outdoors, the fire pits and outdoor seating is perfect… that is, if the monterey fog and chilly nights(which is more often then not…) doesn’t catch ya. The food is «meh»…and the stars say it all… I’ve experienced better. The salads were salty and overdressed, the fries were a bit soggy, the calamari was salty and overbreaded, & the chips(with the group, fish & chips) was similar to the calamari – heavy handed on the batter. Go for the drinks, and maybe the dessert. stay for the music. leave if there’s food.

9 out of 10 times we’ve been to Latitudes it’s been great service and good food. I think the only time we’ve ever had poor service was a waitress covering to many areas at once. We like to go late afternoon, before the dinner rush, sit in the bar next to the windows overlooking the ocean, get some Calamari and Sliders. Makes for a nice quiet meal.

The food and drinks were fine, and it’s a nice location; some seats have great views. But why on earth should I pay money to sit in a shrine to Tene Shake – someone I’ve never heard of and don’t give a rat’s patoot about? –1 star for being a self-centered egotistical narcissist.(That’s MY job!)

The view of the ocean was great, but that was about it. We went with our young kids, which they said was a good idea… it was not. This plays tries to be more of the intimate type of restaurant. The appetizer of calamari was great, the entrée’s were lousy. My wife had a burnt steak(asked for a medium), and my 40 clove garlic chicken was some of most dry meat I have ever had. The polenta under the chicken had a horrible plastic taste to it as well. We would have stayed for dessert, which looked fantastic, but the service was so far below par that it was embarrassing. We never got our waters or bread refilled, even after we asked twice, and it took them over 10 minutes after clearing our entrée plates to even ask us if we wanted dessert… we opted for the check instead. I will say, being in Monterey we should have ordered fish, and the fish entrée’s that were being passed around did look good, but we had already had seafood for the past four nights… and this said it was a steakhouse as well… it is not. Opt for the fish.

Slow service, crappy 50’s music and very hot inside. Food was ok. I got the fish and chips w/fries. All good till I found a hair and not from someones head either. Gross! They took the meal off the bill which was nice but what would have been nicer is that if the manager apologized. Fat chance. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

My boyfriend and I were just finishing up the 17-Mile Drive and got suckered into this place for lunch because it looked romantic and picturesque(it is at Lover’s Point after all). The view out the windows is beautiful, and the restaurant is bright and well lit due to all the windows along one side. My boyfriend ordered the Tene’s Seafood Macaroni and Cheese, and I ordered the New York’s Famous Waldorf Salad. He loved his fancy mac and cheese as it was super cheesy with legitimate seafood flavor from the chunks of shrimp and scallop in the gruyère sauce. I liked my salad, but it was nothing special and I wish I had ordered something more savory. I will definitely try something else next time and try to save room for dessert because they looked delicious. The service was friendly, and they gave me a rose at the end! They do a nice job trying to keep up the«Lover’s Point» ambiance, and it was a very pleasant and enjoyable experience dining here.

My colleagues and I had a memorable experience here. I ordered off the specials menu — the crab stuffed prawns with tomato linguini and smothered in an olive oil/white wine/butter sauce… delicious! The rest of the party ordered the lobster and crab stuff fillet of salmon(special), the fish & chips, Jamaican jerk chicken sandwhich, and the trio of fish(special). We all enjoyed our lunch. Also got free rosemary herb foccacia with garlic/olive oil dipping sauce — yum!

I am happy to report that Michael no longer works at the restaurant! Thank you Chef Tene for listening to my bad experience with Michael. In other news, the restaurant has a new menu. I like to stick to my favorites so I ordered the healthy chicken even though it was no longer on the menu. I was very happy that the restaurant was able to make my favorite dish for me.

We are locals and have been to this establishment on 3 different occasions. The first time was an OK experience although I found the menu lacking, the food bland and the prices a little high for what you get. It’s really a shame too because the location is about as perfect a spot overlooking the ocean front as you could ever want. The second & third trips were to the bar there called Loungitudes. Both times were horrible experiences with an outright lack of service from anyone in the bar area and the last time we where there we actually just got up after about 20 minutes, paid the bill & left. The bartender brought us menu’s and one round of drinks then never bothered to come back to take our order or ask if we would like another round to replace our blatantly empty glasses. To add to the problem even though there are signs posted that say«No one under 21 allowed» there were at least 3 small children in the bar area. One of which was running back & forth the entire length of the bar area and two more that were smaller and crying most of the time. Personally I go to a bar to relax and get away from such things. If I wanted to be around screaming kids I would have gone to Chuck E Cheese instead…

I’d had some mixed experiences at Lattitudes in the past, so when I met some old friends for lunch at Lattitudes this weekend, I was a little skeptical about my meal. I’m not entirely behind the bevy of tropical restaurants on the Peninsula – Hula’s, Islands, the recently departed Volcano Grill, etc. – and I found myself poring over the menu trying to find something innocuous. I settled on the Caribbean jerk chicken sandwich. To my surprise, it was actually pretty tasty – I substituted the chipotle aioli for the default lime cilantro aioli, and the spiciness of the chipotle and the Caribbean jerk spices gave my sandwich a nice kick. Our appetizer, the calamari, was decent – a little greasy for my tastes, but we all loved the lemon butter sauce for dipping.(And speaking of dipping, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the love one of my friends expressed for the bread and accompanying dipping oil infused with garlic, spices and a touch of balsamic vinegar.) Probably the best part of our meal, however, was the lunchtime«entertainment» outside. If you’re in the main dining room, you get a great view of the ocean – and those nutty tourists!

We ended up staying in Pacific Grove somewhat unexpectedly and sauntered on over to Lattitudes for dinner. We got a fantastic quiet table by the window and were impressed by the warm atmosphere immediately. We had a wonderfully witty and personable waiter who made the experience all the more friendly and inviting. Before our food was served, the owner stopped by our table to check in and see how things were going — these people are seriously nice. I ordered the butternut squash ravioli appetizer special as a main course and the potato skins as an appetizer(that combo is actually a bit embarrassing to admit in public, but anyhoo…) and my boyfriend got the fish and chips. Everything was perfectly cooked and very tasty. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the crème brûlée cheesecake to top things off. mmmm.

I was lucky enough to stay in Pacific Grove for a long weekend not too long ago. When my girlfriend and I arrived, her parent’s had already been there for a couple days and had found this little spot. I guess they loved it and insisted on taking us there for a light snack before dinner. We get there and our server was the sweetest woman who was super great. The service from the rest of the establishment was great and our food/drinks came out promptly. We sat outside across the street from Lover’s Point(hence the name). As for food… get the calamari. dont ask, just do. moving along. needless to say the mother-in-law-in-training brought us back here two more times before the end of our trip. It’s not THAT good, it was the server. But i’d give the food three stars alone. In total I had a seared ahi salad, fries, shrimp salad, and sliders with some delicious sauce. I was all pretty good. Bu the service on the last day was HORRIBLE. You’d think that repeat patrons would get a little respect but nope. Some of the waitstaff didn’t even bother to acknowledge us when ate even though we made a point to greet them. our server was this super-fake polished smile guy who is always apologizing for something he hasn’t done. My favorite thing was after getting up to ask someone at the wait station to refill our water glasses after 20mins of being there, he comes over with a busboy and tells him to fill our already now full glasses. why couldn’t he just pour the water? why was he choppin it up with some other waiter the whole time? thanks buddy… Not to mention most of the staff were sitting in the rear dinner room, in clear sight of the rest of the restaurant, watching TV, texting, and talking. When we go to settle the check, what seems like years later, and i’ve already realized the meaning of life and watched California break off into the pacific, we run into another dilemma. we had a coupon from being weekend regulars pretty much and the manager had to be there to approve it. Understandable but why not the manager AND the assistant GM? Because the manager had stepped out to buy flowers(that the pass out when you leave) and we had to wait for her to come back. 15 more minutes. Doesn’t the beezy have a cell phone? Can’t the AGM just adjust the price and they can deal with it later? No. In the end, she came back, didn’t apologize or even acknowledge that we were waiting, AND didn’t give us a flower. Yeah, we didn’t go back.

Can I give Zero Stars?(Nope) This place is worthless! TRUSTME! I am not a tourist. I have lived up the street from this restaurant for 3 years. When i visit a restaurant I give it at least 3 tries before i say it is horrible and I have been to Latitudes 4 times. Every single time I have been to Latitudes the food has been tasteless! I never add salt to my food, but i had to add a ton to my food so i didn’t feel like i was swallowing TASTELESSGRUEL! The fourth time i went was just for drinks, I had already decided that the food was terrible but I wanted to try their happy hour with live jazz music. Well the night that my fiancée and I went the jazz had been canceled and the drinks were watered down and incredibly expensive! I do not feel I can stress the point that you should AVOID this place. I don’t feel I am being to hard on Latitudes because there are so many restaurants at all ends of the price scale that serve FANTASTICFOOD, from Big Sur to Monterey and even a couple of places in Salinas, there is no reason to waste your time here. If you want the magnificent view that is Lovers Point, get take out and eat at the park. Or you can even stop by the grill at lovers point(which is actually pretty darn good, at least with cheeseburgers). If you want a touristy spot with great views go to The Fish hopper or Old Fisherman’s Grotto, both of which have good views and pretty good food. Or if you want great food head to the Sardine factory in Monterey or Casanova in Carmel. Pacific Grove has plenty of fantastic places as well. The top on that list would be Red House Café just two blocks up from Latitudes, but do yourself a favor and don’t go to Latitudes!

First a small history lesson. Us old-timers who have been visiting Monterey for decades will recall that this building used to be known as the Tinnery.(I can always remember Tinnery and yet to remember Lattitudes; in my PDA, I list it still as the Tinnery) Under the post-Tinnery management, the building has been updated with a new look and feel. The upgraded menu is far better than the Tinnery. The menu is rich in variety ranging from a few Asian dishes(over Jasmine rice) to a good old all-American steak. I found the service to be nice, friendly, professional and efficient. The food was great! You know things are going to be nice when the hot bread comes out with a nice oil and vinegar treat. OK, it is more expensive than the Tinnery. But, I found there to be good value in the food for the price. Yes, I will return in the future. Oh, did I mention they have a stunning view from the windows of Monterey Bay?

Went here on Wednesday for lunch with my brand new hubby. We wanted somewhere with a view of the water that served food — the gal at the visitor center recommended Lattitudes. The view is bar none and the food is alright. I ordered the Seafood Mac n’Cheese despite the«as seen on TV» claim in its description. When the dude brought it out he actually said«as seen on TV» when he set it down. That was weird. It was pretty good, not great but good. Our server was an over-the-top-schmoozer and hearing him work the table next to us was a bit much but he did give us good service. Apparently they have re-vamped the menu for the budget conscience so it wasn’t a huge strain on the wallet. So, overall — yeah, it was okay.

The two of us got there at 9am and left at 10am. The server was fabulous but the breakfast was so bad we sent it back. I’m sure the cook was having an off day or something. We both ordered Crab Benedict with the sauce on the side. What we received 30 minutes later was untoasted english muffins topped with what appeared to be canned crab topped with«poached» eggs that were equivalent to hard boiled eggs on the inside. On the side was a hashbrown square, similar to what you would get in the frozen food section at a grocery, and a metal cup with 3 ketchup packets inside. We were starving but this was not what we had in mind and we just sent the food back and asked to pay for our drinks. The server, bless her soul, was very embarrassed and offered new food which we refused. She asked if we would come back for lunch, which seems to be the popular meal there, we said no. We won’t be back.
