I would absolutely have given this place 5 stars if it wasn’t for a pickup truck and trailer that completely blocked all the parking the parking spots in front. When I finally found a space I walked into the store and told informed the guy behind the counter that«whoever parked like that was an asshole» he and the guy who parked it there were lolo at me. Then the when paying the dude said“well.I can see both sides of this” HELLO!

Extremely helpful staff without all the, «how’s your family talk.» Their sliding door and window screen work is professional. I have been a customer for 12 years. Way better than running around a Home Depot for a good array of tools, some lumber, paint and more.

The staff is so helpful and grateful for your business… a true neighborhood shop! It amazes me how many items they have for my emergency needs from bathroom stuff, to cleaning supplies, to bulbs, to wires and nails, just everything… they usually have it and if they don’t, they will direct you to the right shop! Reasonable prices too. I was shocked. I’ll continue to buy from them.

I stopped in to get a new car key cut and these guys made it seem like I was just waiting there hanging out with friends. A super cool crew! While waiting another guy came through and needed a few screws for something and they just gave them to him. I would drive out of my way to give these locals my business!

If I could give this store six stars, I would. I have gone there for many years, buying all kinds of odds and ends for my home. The staff is always so helpful. It doesn’t matter if I am buying a 10-cent screw or $ 50 worth of halogen lights… they give me courteous, competent service either way. Kudos to these guys! Set your clock back, because this is the way that service used to be in the U.S.

They will do whatever it takes to help you find exactly what you need, even if you’re only getting a small purchase. Only 4 stars because they are a pretty small store and don’t have some things that you might find at a larger ACE store. On the other hand, with ACE you can order online and pick up at your neighborhood store, so this really doesn’t present much of a problem.

I come in for random, small things now and then. I’ve thus far encountered knowledgeable and friendly workers who help me get what I need quickly.

Great service and a knowledgeable staff. Exactly what I’d want out of a neighborhood hardware store.

The staff were helpful, no one seemed very knowledgeable however(i.e. not knowing different nail names, or what would be appropriate for my project). I bought some wood there and needed it cut(because how many of us own electric saws at home). As the gentleman was cutting my boards a higher up came by to say, «we don’t cut boards, even if they are for a cute girl.» Needless to say WTF, you don’t cut boards? And secondly, I think there is a more appropriate way to say this while in my company. Now I’m stuck with boards that are half cut, which I can’t do anything with. I will be going to Home Depot next time, where they will gladly cut the boards for you with just a small additional fee. And the staff seems to be better informed.

great store with very helpful staff. They know their stuff and will quickly help you figure out a good solution to whatever you’re trying make/fix. One trip here will instill the value of having a small local hardware store.

I needed an ignition key blank(with resistor chip) copied off an original key. No programming involved. I provided the blank. The Grand Av ACE store quoted me $ 69. No confusion over the task. I explained it twice and got a second opinion from the manager. $ 69 take it or leave it. I got the key copied at HAMMERANDNAILSACE hardware on Turquoise Av in PB. Cost less than $ 3.00 … just as they told me over the phone. FASTCOURTEOUSHONESTFRIENDLY Lucky we are in PB to have a choice. I’m sorry I appeared so stupid to the Grand Av guys. I’m never going back. As in never! BTW: The job took less than one minute and the new key worked first time and every time thereafter.

Working and living in the area, I’ve gone to Hammer & Nail for a number of things, from small stuff like zip ties to more substantial plumbing material. Also, I’ve dealt with a few different people in there, and they’ve all been very helpful. It’s not a huge store, so if you’re looking to do a very large project or have a wide selection of tools, Hammer & Nail may not be the place to go. But if you’re looking for a moderate selection and good service(and willing to pay a little bit more, perhaps), try it out. What actually reminded me to write this review is the pair of Ace leather working gloves that I bought there about a year ago. They were the cheapest ones they had in terms of price, but one of the guys there recommended em. I’ve used them a LOT since last summer, and they’re still in really good shape. Not a huge deal, I suppose, but just another reason for me to throw a 5-star rating their way. Thanks guys.

I love Hammer & Nails. I’ve been in many, many times in the past(they sell just about anything you may be looking for, no joke), but this past weekend was the first time I went into the hardware store to actually buy things that a hardware store is known for selling: we took on our first home project — paint. The guy mixed up our paint quickly and perfectly, and suggested all the tools and supplies we would need, and I appreciated that he did so based on the size of the area we were painting and not price. I totally agree w/Mary M; we had to go back in 2 more times for additional supplies, but oh how forever thankful are we that we didn’t have to schlep all the way out Home Depot or Lowes.
