Took the beginning hand gun class. James was our instructor. Very thorough class. He went over everything. Would recommend to anyone. The facilities are 1st class.

I can’t really compare SoF to other ranges so this grade is based on basic costumer service you would expect anywhere you’re spending money. The C&C class was excellent and the range facility is very nice but the guy running the store is an old grouchy a-hole. Apparently folks in the range wanted the fans on but he dismissed them saying it was cool enough outside to not have the fans. In the meantime he went on to rudely tell me that I bought the wrong gun(from them a week earlier) if I wanted to use a pocket holster. That wouldn’t be so bad if he had helped me find the right holster rather than just dismissing my interest in the holsters by walking away like he had better things to do. The only thing I can assume is that he is the owner because if he were an employee he would be fired. If he’s the owner his rude demeanor isn’t doing his business any favors I wanted to support this small business but I can get better customers service and prices from Academy. Little did he know I’m ready to spend another $ 700+ for my wife’s personal protection but I won’t be returning to SoF.

Great place to come and test your skills. Not the cheapest place but I’ll tell you it’s worth it.

I’ve been to a lot of different shooting ranges in the last 5 years. However, I did not enjoy my experience at the Sound of Freedom. The man we dealt with told me I was probably an «inexperienced shooter» as he was going though the rules. I hadn’t told him anything about my prior experience nor had he asked. I did not appreciate the statement. I was tempted to leave, but not willing to argue to get my money back so I headed to the range. The range was decent, and all the equipment was functional. They came in and made sure a couple was wearing ear protection when it was very obvious they were, given the neon orange ear plugs and cords that ran through the back. He then continued to critique them as the couple stood awkwardly. When I go to shoot, I want to concentrate and not have someone breathing down my back the entire time.

This is by far the best gun shop and indoor range in the greater Springfield area. The facility is really nice and spacious. The range staff is friendly, knowledgeable and dedicated to range safety. SoF’s prices are very competitive, even if the selection is modest. The gun rental counter is a great feature of the range; paying the rental fee gets you a box of ammo and the option of test firing any firearm in that caliber. Classroom instruction is top-notch.

We took the beginners pistol coarse a couple of weeks ago and have been back 5 times since then. No matter when we are there, they are always extremely helpful and each person we have been serviced by has been extremely knowledgable. I would recommend this shop to anyone of any level. For those first time shooters, I would recommend the beginners pistol coarse. They have a great selection of rental guns and thier pricing for rentals is very fair. I would recommend this facility and the services to anyone!

As a member of this range since it opened, I’ve never been less than impressed with the facilities and satisfied with the service. If there is one thing they place at upmost importance, it is safety. My friends that I bring from out of state are likewise amazed by how nice this range and shop are. I don’t expect an indoor range to be air conditioned because I know it would be prohibitively expensive. I dress for the conditions and do fine. The difference is that if its raining, snowing or lightning, I can still go shoot, unlike an outdoor range. I also don’t to have to apply sunscreen and bug spray. I’ve also taken several classes there which I recommend highly, even to experienced shooters. You don’t have to be a member to shoot. Check out their website which lists the lane and gun rental fees. If you have your own pistol, ammo and targets, it’s just $ 15 for a lane rental and as long as you don’t go when they’re busy on the weekends, you can stay for as long as you like. We’ve taken couples there for a date night and had a blast, pardon the pun.
