This place is DELICIOUS! The staff is really friendly and the service we had was great. The sushi was also good. We mostly ate the rolls, but the fish wasn’t fishy or anything. The rolls are a good size, but maybe a tad bit too much rice in them. Otherwise, I totally recommend this place!

We weren’t really greeted warmly and the food really wasn’t the greatest; warm fish that is raw just seemed off. We boxed our stuff and took off so we’d be close to home in case our tummies went bad and besides, we didn’t feel comfortable nor welcome at this place. Too bad we paid for this experience… I guess our only consolation is knowing we will NOT be back. Ever.

That 1 star is inflated. On a 1 to 10 scale, a 2 is being generous. I sat at the bar and ordered simple things first. The customer next to me asked(in Spanish) for another roll and got it in two minutes. Customer came in and asked(in Spanish) for a togo order and received it in a few minutes. My simple sushi eventually came 5 minutes later. RIGHT! GOTIT!!! Looked fresh; however, I was not impressed with the taste. If you’re looking for a traditional style sushi restaurant, I would not recommend this place. Actually, i wouldn’t recommend this place to my family, friends or associates. I’m definitely not going back here.

Wasn’t impressed by any of the sushi here. Rolls are a soggy mess with very small portions of actual fish. Service was whatever. I also didn’t like how everything(pretty sure it was just about everything) on the happy hour menu is deep fried.

Cool for lunch. They have a good special you can pick up which is two items, salad, rice and soup for $ 8.95. If you have an irrational fear of white carbs like me ask for double salad and easy rice on the sushi although I can’t say they listened on the easy rice because I had to peel some of mine off. Of all the options for your two choices there are 13 Japanese dishes and only 2 sushi options which of course are spicy tuna and California rolls. However, what they lack in choice in this they make up for in abundance. The rolls are 8 pieces which in total makes for a lot of food. For pickup to go I did the Bulgogi beef and spicy tuna for my choices and both were good.

Very good again, cocktail sashimi was very good and great for the cost, about 6 or 7 pieces for the $ 5 happy hour.

First time trying Yokozuna sushi and it was better than expected. I got the sashimi cocktail as an appetizer, and the tempura udon and albacore delight roll as the main course. I am really picky with how the Tempura Udon is usually prepared because most of the sushi restaurants have the noodles too over cooked and have other type of vegetables inside I am my very fond of, however the tempura udon at this place had just the perfect amount of noodles that were cooked properly and not too much other vegetables added on to the soup. As for the sushi and sashimi, the fish seemed very fresh and the decoration was presented nicely. Overall, I would definitely come back to this place.

Tried this place for the first time and I’m not coming back. The wait staff didn’t get our orders right and constantly asked us what we ordered even though it’s written on the piece of paper. Our food took incredibly long with no apology or explanation on why. The rolls were littered with chili and jalapeños and slathered in sauce making the rolls a spicy soggy mess. We weren’t even greeted with Irasshai/Irasshaimase. Enough said.

Food was decent; about average, but wasn’t really memorable or worthy of a return trip. We ordered the Vegetable Roll, R19 Volcano Roll, R25 Sunset Roll, and the R40 Crunch California roll. The temperature differences in the Volcano Roll were disconcerting, ranging from slightly-warm in some places to ice cold in others. The first two rolls were brought to us without wasabi or ginger, but the waiter asked us if we wanted some after we got our rolls, so we did get some brought to the table. The ambiance was terrible. There was a table of very loud, shouting patrons next to us, and the employees had«What Makes You Beautiful» by One Direction on endless repeat the entire time we ate here today. It played 3.5 times before the waiter even came to take our order, then it played 1.5 times before we got the first of our rolls. The song played once more, then blissfully switched to a different song, which, after 10 seconds, someone promptly switched RIGHTBACK to «What Makes You Beautiful», AGAIN. It played 10 more times while we ate. The same 1D song, over and over and over. 15 times total. Even the table of loud patrons commented on the song playing repeatedly. I had nothing against the song when I walked in today, but after being subjected to 15 replays in a row, I never want to hear it again. I will never be returning to Yokozuna Sushi, because being subjected to auditory torture for average-tasting, pricy food is just not worth it to me. There are other sushi places in the area that perhaps have more respect for their customers.

We try to come every Friday or every other Friday. Service is always great! We walk in and the waiter already knows what we want to drink! Fish is always so fresh. Staff is always so friendly. Way better than kabuki which is in walking distance from our house. Much rather make the drive to here!

I love this place. A few years ago, my friend and I used to live in the apartment building just down the street and we would come here every other Friday. That’s twice a month. 24 times in one year. We never once got sick of coming here. This was our first stop on our payday. They got used to seeing us all the time that when we would walk in, our favorite beers would be waiting for us because they knew we were coming. Asahi for me and Sapporo for her. Cut to a few years later, and I was craving sushi and couldn’t figure out where to go. I was meeting up with her my sister so we compromised and decided to come here since they were still open and unlike all the other places that were closed early due to the holidays. My sister and I came in for a late lunch yesterday. We both got out of work and came straight here. We were both so hungry that we ended up ordering a ton of food and just split everything in half. Best decision ever. Started out with baked mussels(fantastic) and the mixed tempura(a personal favorite) and cleared the plates. We decided to share three other orders. The first one was an order of tuna sashimi, second the lion King roll and the dynamite roll because I always order that when I’m here. Everything was eaten. When I finished, I looked at all the empty plates and said whoa. I love this place. The service is great and the food is always on point. I don’t even know why I don’t come as often as I used to do. I’m going to fix that.

The happy hour deal here is incredible, and I highly suggest getting the Sashimi cocktail for $ 5. It comes with 6 pieces of fresh and delicious Salmon and Tuna(2 different types). It was so good that I ordered it at once more before leaving the shop! Plenty of parking in the plaza and spacious interior. The quality of sushi is terrific.

The happy hour specials are unbelievable. I mean we’re talking $ 5 sushi rolls folks, that’s right, FIVEDOLLARS! The service was friendly and you can see the rolls being prepared by the chefs near the bar. I ordered the spicy tuna tempura roll and the dragon roll. I don’t think I’d go back for the dragon roll but the spicy tuna tempura was a definite hit! Word of advice though this restaurant is located in the Smart and Final shopping center(my navi insisted it was in the Lowe’s one).

UPDATE: Back up to a full 4 stars. I was VERY surprised with Yokozuna the last time we went. The food and service were both really really good. I wish I could remember the name of the roll my hubs got — maybe the Katana Roll? It was amazing! I got the Salmon Sashimi and a Spicy Tuna Roll. I know, I know not very adventurous but I think these traditional options really say a lot about a sushi place. Both were very fresh tasting. Dare I say they have new owners since my last review? We’ve moved back into town so we’ll definitely be back for that insanely delicious roll and happy hour soon.
