Michelle Ostrove Vocal & Piano Studio

My 11 year-​old daughter has been taking singing lessons from Michelle for about two years now. Michelle has done some wonderful work with her. She keeps her interested and has helped her progress while keeping things simple and fun. She’s abke to find contemporary music that challenges her and expands on her current skill level. My daughter has developed a sense of confidence with her singing and in time I hope she chooses to perform publicly. I have already referred Michelle to a few friends and I would gladly refer her to more.

Our daughter started going to Michelle about a year ago. Prior to this time, she had no musical experience to speak of… unless you count a three to four week stint with the guitar or her non-​stop singing around the house. My wife and I heard about Michelle through our daughter’s best friend’s mom who raved about her. After hearing my daughter’s friend sing, who’s incredible, I was sold… on trying it at least. I have to admit at that time, a part of me felt like singing was a natural gift that you had or you didn’t. Of course this thought process makes paying someone to «teach» your child to sing seem pointless. Well, my belief may still be true. Some singers may be born with something extra, I don’t really know. What I do know for sure is that not everyone’s gift sits easy to see on the surface, and with the right teacher your child’s talents can be raised and refined. Every few weeks or so, Michelle emails my wife and I a video of our daughter performing a song she’s been working on (If you go to Michelle’s Facebook page you will find several student videos) and on multiple occasions we’ve been in tears by the end. To watch her play piano… and sing… and hit notes I never imagined she’d hit… it’s completely overwhelming every time I hear it. And I don’t know that my daughter will ever be the next American Idol (she actually talks more about performing in coffee shops than on big stages… lol) but she’s a joy to hear and most importantly I’ve seen the incredible effect her singing has had on her self esteem and confidence. For that last reason alone, I highly recommend you give Michelle a try. I’m certainly happy we did.
