Best Carnitas ever! I stopped in for a taco one day and the next week I pre ordered 40lbs for my moms birthday party. These guys are on it.

I read all the 5 star Unilocal and I was craving some carnitas so here I am in Carnitas Heaven! This place has nothing but carnitas but that’s ok because once you try some you will need nothing else. The offer rice, beans, homemade tortillas and pico de gallo and salsa a la carte. We ordered our carnitas by the lb($ 8.99) with a half dozen tortillas($ 2) with a Mexico Coke. They only take cash. The restaurant is clean and the owners are so kind and service is impeccable. I called and asked about parking and the gal didn’t speak fluent English so I just google mapped it and while I was doing that they called back with someone that spoke English and wanted to make sure I knew where to park. Talk about service. We parked in front but there is a parking lot on Oxnard Blvd between 5th and 6th where you can park. I will be going back and taking every carnitas lover in my life back.

If it’s carne asada you’re looking for, look elsewhere! This place is all about the carnitas, and WOW are they amazing – The King, indeed! The menu features either carnitas tacos or carnitas by the pound. We split a pound, which we combined with a half-order(6) of flour tortillas, a side of beans, and Negra Modelo for a grand total of $ 16(cash only!). We requested a mix of the different parts of the carnitas, making sure to include some of the fattier pieces – EVERYTHING was SO tender, and SO perfectly seasoned. Carnitas is one of those meats that I love, but that I rarely order because many places don’t get it right. You’ll get moist, tender meat that tastes like nothing; good flavors, but dry meat; or, the worst combination of dry, tasteless meat. Here, the meat was so perfect that I probably still won’t order carnitas very often because I can’t imagine any other place executing so perfectly. The flour tortillas were also probably the best, freshest flour tortillas I’ve had in a really, really long time. And. .. AND! the drink menu includes $ 3 beer as well as my childhood favorite: piña colada bang!

The carnitas are very delicious. We looked clueless when we came in because it was our first time there. The server behind the counter gave us each a free«sample» taco with a generous portion of carnitas. How nice is that?! I wound up ordering two tacos and quenched my thirst with a negro modelo. Will definitely go back.

OMG what just happened to my mouth? I entered here expecting some pretty solid carnitas but left in a haze of heavenly pork filled bliss. Hands down the best carnitas in so cal… yes, that is a bold statement but I wholeheartedly mean it. I haven’t had carnitas like this since my childhood days when my family and I would drive down to TJ before the narcos took over. Here, just like in TJ, they mix carnitas, buche, and other delicious porky parts into your tacos… simply outstanding. Greasy, moist, and flavorful. Aside from the food, the staff is incredibly sweet. I told the carnitas man(for lack of a better term) that it was my first time here and that I drove from Thousand Oaks because our Mexican food blows… he laughed, smiled and offered me a free taco to sample their food. Needless to say I was hooked! An added bonus is the smell of frankincense wafting in from the botanica next door… it just feels like you’re at your Tia’s house getting your grub on just that this Tia really knows how to get down with carnitas… El Rey, you really are king in my book.

Where do I begin? How delicious the carnitas was or how easy it was to order. The amount of meat piled on a single taco is enough for two. They have a super simple menu. Carnitas, tortillas, rice, beans, pico de gallo and salsa. You can order carnitas in the form of a taco or by the pound. The only downside is having to order everything individually, but the meat is so damn good, you won’t even care. The staff was friendly and the man chopping up the carnitas gave me a complimentary taco for it being my first visit. The restaurant itself is spacious and has a good amount of inside seating, but maybe not for long because word is getting out how good this place is.
