Took a ride with my bride in the little yellow car late yesterday afternoon, and she mentioned something about«Hey, as long as we’re in Oxford, let’s stop at WalMart» Apparently her dad had mentioned something to her about Lego’s being marked down. We got there, and had a hard time finding the Lego’s, but once we did we decided to pick up more than just a few sets based on the pricing alone. This was indeed a bargain, but the problem was going to be how to fit them in the car(remember, this is the Little Yellow Car — there is no trunk and it’s a 2 seater). Okay, so as usual, when at WalMart, there are very few lines open, despite being 30+ registers lined up across the front and one ends up spending more time standing in line than doing the actual shopping. I wouldn’t call that convenient. Also, see the«Pool Chemicals» photo I posted from this trip… The lack of organization, the mess the store was in when we got there is a testament to what to expect when going to WalMart. In referring to «Mess» I mean merchandise strewn everywhere near the entrance — backpacks especially, as though it’s been rifled and picked through and then just left for someone else to take care of, mislabled aisles, mislabled merchandise markers and so on. Appearance and first impression is very discouraging when walking in the door. There are two things I will point out about this location that I found encouraging. 1st, the friendliness of the checkout clerk — she didn’t act like I was an inconvenience or a problem for her to have to deal with. 2nd, despite the mess with the merchandise, the Oxford location is much cleaner than the North Durham location off of I-85 at Glenn School Rd — floors, parking lot — overall. Generally, I avoid WalMart, and each time I visit one, I’m reminded why.
