Since Hawks Landing has been under new management this summer, living here has been to say the least… unfortunate. I have been living in Hawks Landing for 2 years now and for only paying $ 399 a month without electricity and all amenities, it hasn’t been too bad(since I’m rarely home and I have a car). However, recently I have never felt so annoyed. Besides the construction work beginning at 7:30 am/7 days a week and the less than 24 hour notice to move our cars, the construction workers have destroyed our personal property on our patio, entered our apartment without knocking, and left sharp, rusty nails all over our patio. I can understand why the construction starts early in the morning but the unprofessionalism is too much. If there is going to be a whole year of this going on, I wouldn’t want anyone to go through what my roommates and I have went through. At least till the construction is done…

I should mention that the only five star review for this place is from a hawks landing employee. The reviews on Facebook boasting 5 stars are also from employees — I’m guessing management encouraged them to post them to dilute the negative reviews. I took over my friend’s lease for the summer and I have had nothing but problems. First of all, there’s loud, obnoxious construction going on outside starting at 7:30AM every day but Sunday outside my window. Even if they are working on the building next door the sound wakes me and all my roommates up. I wasn’t told about this when I signed the lease and I moved in a month later. If I had known about the construction, I would have chosen another place to live. It’s impossible to sleep with a huge lift machine beeping while backing up all morning, a table saw running, and men singing as they hammer on your walls from the outside. They are currently re-siding our place, and they did such a bad job that water was coming in through the seal between the windows and the wall last night during a storm. I have found nails and tacks facing upward on my patio and around the campus. Completely unprofessional contractors. You really cannot even go to the pool barefoot here. Speaking of the pool, it is constantly crowded with drunk people who drive to the apartment and clearly do not live there. There is no enforcement at all. Sometimes there are even high schoolers from Talawanda or forty year old men who have no business being there — no joke. It’s just absurd! Of course these people leave behind their empty bottles and spills by or in the pool when they go back to where they actually live and we’re left with the mess. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought to go to the pool and left because it’s so grimy. Also, don’t think about going to the hot tub at night after 10PM! The property manager will call the cops, even if you’re completely sober just enjoying the spa after finishing homework. You can’t even swim before 10AM because the pool is closed. The parking lots suck right now. I can’t ride my bike here at night because some of the parking lot lights are either out or flickering and there are potholes everywhere. Management sends us emails telling us to move our cars immediately at random times away from buildings so they don’t get painted on by the workers so they aren’t liable for the damage the workers cause — even if we are at work and can’t move our cars for hours. Construction workers take up half the parking lot with old paneling which is full of nails, some of which are left in the parking lot when they clear the wood. Besides your feet or bike, your car tires probably aren’t safe here for a while. I ended up leaving my car at my friend’s house because I don’t trust hawks or this construction company to keep my car safe. On top of all that, the wifi is SO slow and drops out at random times when I need to do my homework. Plus, it’s a completely public network with no password! It probably isn’t safe to access your bank account or complete transactions on this network. Everyone I’ve talked to about living at hawks right now completely deplores it and regrets their decision to sign. The management is so shady — It’s like they had a meeting about whether to do so much construction with so many tenants and said, «screw it, they’re bound by the lease to pay us anyway!» Moving after this summer will be such a relief. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Can’t speak on behalf of living there. But I feel they should answer the phone or call people back that leave messages about wanting to stay there. Just a tip.
