In the area for just a little over 24 hrs. Had to have crab cakes. Found this little gem. The crab cakes were so sweet. The wait staff attentive even though we were there during a low traffic time. The Nouveau salad crisp. My daughter loved the calamari, not over cooked seasoned lightly. The flatbread had crab with spinach very tasty. Really enjoyed the atmosphere. Highly recommend this sweet gem of a bistro. Yummy!!!

This place is a hidden jewel in owings mills. We were headed to another restaurant in the strip and called an audible. It looked too good inside as we were riding by. Unfortunately, there were no tables in the dining area but hubby and I went to the bar area and got a table. We got hipster beers and iced tea. They were both yummy and cold. Quenched the thirst just right. We got the artichoke dip and that was so yummy. Creamy, crunchy and artichoky. So delicious. I got the Botticelli, with tomato sauce instead of the pesto and it was so good. Like gooder than good. I got it with chicken and the chicken was so tasty. I just wish there was more of it. It was too thin. Hubs got the crab cake with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Crab cake had great flavor, but was no Costas or Pappas. Service was quick, people were friendly and the vibe in the place was chill. If I’m ever in the area, I’ll be back again.

This is sort of the«neighborhood» spot in Owings Mills New Town. Food has always been good and the drinks are even better. Service and atmosphere are both good as well.

My coworkers and I love to stop by here for happy hour or lunch. Their drink specials are good and their bread and butter is a favorite! During lunch, you order at the counter and then grab a number to take back to your table. Service is friendly and decently fast, but if you don’t have time to sit down, calling ahead for carry out is a great option. Most importantly, the food is always delicious. I have yet to try something I don’t like. My favorite is the Murillo lettuce wraps because they’re relatively healthy and a very generous portion. Honestly, most of the entrees here are on the larger size in my opinion. Be sure to check out the daily specials. There’s usually some sort of decadent grilled panini on the specials menu. I highly recommend upgrading the side to sweet potato fries, which are cooked to perfection and sprinkled with just the right amount of salt. Also, they are more than happy to give you an extra plate to share an entrée, which I love since this place is on the higher end for lunch(~$ 12-$ 16). It’s definitely a once in a few weeks kinda place for me. The other dishes I recommend are: Nouveau salad, Remington sandwich, and anything with their blackened chicken or chipotle mayo. Overall, the food, service, and daily specials are all consistent and great!

After several visits to this place over a year, I’ve finally decided that I am «complete» with Artful Gourmet. Unfortunately it just has not been a consistent joy for me to come here. Although I have had some good experiences, I would say they are fewer compared to the not so good experiences. I first came to Artful a year ago because I was seeking someplace with a patio to have dinner with a friend. My first experience was amazing! I had the Winslow Wontons, which were crunchy and airy on the outside and moist and delicious in the inside. I had a yummy mixed drink off the drink menu that quenched my thirst, and I enjoyed the salmon with potatoes. I enjoyed it so much I came back a couple of times before I took a hiatus due to work, etc. I then decided to bring two of my friends with me after raving about it and was quite embarrassed when they didn’t enjoy it, and I didn’t either. I came back a couple of times after just to make sure I didn’t come on an odd night but found that it is consistently not as good as it used to be in the beginning. First, the wontons are NOT the same. They are no longer crunchy, rather, they are rather rubbery on the outside. The drinks are not well crafted like they used to be. Every drink I’ve gotten since I’ve come back there have had to be modified after I got it(asking for more sour on a margarita, or more olive juice on a dirty martini, flavorless mixed drinks, etc). I most recently had the salmon again and found the dish overall to be uninspired and not flavorful. I did have the Pieta dish for the first time and that ended up being pretty good. But anything drenched in cheese tends to be delicious. The waiters/waitresses are always very kind. The patio is beautiful, although after dark the candles that they have on the tables are not bright enough. You can barely see your meal. It may be a good idea for them to invest in some better lighting at some point. The patio right now is the only draw for this place because its one of the few places in this area I find that has great patio dining. But if the food/drinks aren’t up to par, I can’t consciously continue to come to this place. I would just say try it for yourself and make your own decision about if its worth it. For me, its too hit or miss.

One of the fastest ways to my heart is with a big, fresh, tasty salad. And last week I fell in love with the nouveau salad at The Artful Gourmet when I stopped in for lunch with a co-worker, despite my best efforts not to. For some reason I love to hate on The Artful Gourmet. It really has a cult following in the area, and part of me really doesn’t understand why. But the other part of me gets it — there is a serious lack of casual yet upscale dining in Owings Mills and Artful Gourmet has been filling that void for years now. They have everything you could want, including a nice dining area that is a little bit more sophisticated but also cute, a more relaxed bar that is essentially separated from the quieter dining, and outdoor seating for the Owings Mills version of al fresco dining. If you are looking for a good, nice place that isn’t a chain, this is your best bet. This wasn’t my first time at Artful, but it was my first time ordering a salad. The nouveau salad is spring mix with with gorgonzola cheese, honey roasted pecans and cranberries, and topped with a vinaigrette. I added grilled chicken on top, but you can also get shrimp, tuna steak or salmon. The salad was really fresh and light — perfect for summer! They didn’t skimp on the pecans and cranberries, and they didn’t drench the salad in dressing(which is a pet peeve of mine). The portion of chicken was generous, but small enough that it was appropriate for a lunch portion. Granted this type of salad is pretty simple, but it was perfectly executed and I enjoyed it immensely. The only downside is that my lunch came to $ 13, before tax or a drink. That feels pretty steep. I am sure I will be back again soon, and if I find anything worth writing about I definitely will because, I am reluctant to admit, Artful Gourmet tends to live up to the hype. If you are looking for a good salad then you may want to check it out!

After having some very disappointing meals in this area, we were directed to this place. What a great find! Fantastic service, great food, and beer specials on special beers. Out flatbread was just the slightest bit charred. They made another without us even asking. We will be back.

The last Friday of the month, my female co-workers and I all go out to lunch. We call it «GLO» — Girls’ Lunch Out. The pick for this month was The Artful Gourmet in Owings Mills and we all loved it. There were eight of us for this particular lunch, and we arrived shortly after 11:45. You order at a counter, get your own drinks and silverware, and someone will bring your food out to you and also clear your plates. Great set up for busy working people who need to eat fairly quickly and get back to the office. Everyone loved what they ordered. We all selected sandwiches, wraps or salads. I ordered a small house salad with the Gorgonzola vinaigrette and added rare blackened tuna to it. It was delicious(although they did give me the wrong dressing, a balsamic vinaigrette that was very tasty nonetheless). I am very picky about fish and don’t like most, but this tuna was better than some I have had at very fine restaurants. I savored every bite. My only gripe would be that it would have been helpful to know exactly what was in the house salad beforehand(ingredients for it are not stated in the menu). A co-worker ordered it as well and wound up pushing the pepperoncini rings and some other ingredients to the side. She said if she had known there were some atypical ingredients she would have asked them to hold them. Our department recently relocated from our company HQ downtown out to Owings Mills. I am not familiar with this side of town, and am enjoying trying all of the great new places to eat!

I’ve heard awesome things about this place and wanted to try it for some time. Once inside, it reminded of a home like feel, as everyone seemed to know your name. The staff went out of their way to learn who you are and what you like. You can tell that there are a lot of regulars. The restaurant is located in a small plaza like center, with other restaurants, a hair salon, etc. There is a large room for parties, a bar section, and a dining area. We sat at the bar, and I’m glad we did, because there was a special on wine. All were $ 5 a glass. For starters we had Winslow Wantons, this was basically a fried wanton filled with crab and cream cheese. It came with two dipping sauces, one reminded me of a pineapple salsa, the other seemed to have more of a thai– like flavor. The wantons were great, they weren’t too greasy and the filling was delicious. There were five to the order. For dinner, I had the Hopper, which was a combination of shrimp and chicken with peppers, onions, and a pineapple salsa over yellow rice. The portion to this was plentiful, and the flavors mixed well. The spice from the Caribbean seasoning and the sweet from the pineapple salsa was a nice treat. They didn’t skimp on the proteins, and there was plenty for my lunch the next day. The menu had so many great options to try, in addition to a daily drink, and food specials. The staff are awesome, Patrick our bartender took great care of us. I can’t wait to return to try more things.

This was my first trip to the Artful Gourmet Bistro. This isn’t an ultra upscale place but it is a nice place. I got the paella and it was phenomenal. Great service. Nice atmosphere. Great spot for my birthday dinner. I will definitely be back.

The Artful Gourmet Bistro apparently is the crown jewel of Owings Mills as it was quite popular during my recent visit. The clientele leans toward an older consumer as the majority of the people there were silver haired. I would recommend going during the warmer months as they have a nice outdoor patio setup. The service here is one of the best aspects of the place, like the customers, the waitstaff is on the older side. My server was quite sweet, she made some excellent recommendation and was helpful throughout the night. Food was good but not great. I stated with the gazpacho, vegetables were fresh and taste was overall pleasing. Nice kick with the onion and garlic to add a little flavor. I also tried the Winslow wontons, your basic wonton, stuffed with crab and fried. Potion size was huge, way too much to eat in one setting but cooked well, decent amount of crab in the middle and the accompanying sauce was a real hit. For the main entrée I went with the Michelangelo, jumbo shrimp in a vodka cream sauce served over pasta. Shrimp was cooked well, vodka cream sauce was rich and filling. Pasta was a little overcooked but not enough to ruin the meal. All in all if you live in the Owings Mills area, this is a must visit as I believe the options are limited. I would definitely return again just to enjoy the overall atmosphere and try a few of their other dishes.

Artful gourmet confuses me. Their are three seperate areas, the eating area with a bar; the eating area without the bar and then the outside area. So obviously finding a seat isnt the issue but figuring out how to get your food is. Apparently you stand in line order and take your number to your table. This is where having such large space works against you. The waiter or the runner really because we had to pick up our own silverware and drinks just sit your food down and you never see them again. Our food took a tour around the whole building because the runner did not see our number standing on the table the first time she walked through The décor is nothing to write home about i didnt find anything memorable except being lost as to where i could find a fork since waiters dont exist here The food was pretty regular i got the gallego whicj was supposed to be grilled bbq chicken with gouda and grilled onions on foccacia. I just want to go on record saying putting bbq sauce on top of chicken does not it bbq chicken its just regular chicken u poured sauce on. And the chicken was thin and dry and tough The bread was thick it took over the sandwich. The fries we ok no complaints. My friend have the rigatoni and she enjoyed that. What we really loved was the wonton it was stuffed with real crab meat and cream cheese i was such a fan because i didn’t expect it the be so good they can stand to cut down on the wonton tho tbe ratio of fried wonton to the small ball of filling in the middle was dissapointing. Good thing is we could leave when we wanted because we had paid already but i was sure if i should tip because no one really served me

Artful Gourmet Bistro takes the culinary arts to heart. Every drink & dish has a classical art theme. You almost want to try everything to make your own masterpiece. I enjoyed the dishes more than the drinks. More flavor! The ambiance is classy yet not too stuffy. The dinner traffic picks up at 5:30. That’s when this quiet little known secret becomes a busy supper hot spot.

Came here for Valentine’s Day dinner with my husband and had a great dinner overall. The décor was subtle but romantic, with red and black napkins and tablecloths and real roses on each table. We started with the lobster bisque, which had a slight red pepper taste to it and was delicious overall. The bowls of soup are huge; big enough to have been my entire dinner. Next course, I ordered the Cezaan pasta; the pasta alone had a strong garlic flavor, which was paired nicely with diced grape tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. Great for garlic lovers. We finished with a chocolate covered strawberry skewer presented beautifully on a red platter and Hawaiian martini. Great service overall, pretty good quality food. Would return!

I truly enjoyed dining here! It was my first time and I have to say I will be returning again. Here are some reasons why: 1. The staff were super friendly ! Our waitress Maria was so attentive and sweet! 2. The food was very good! Everything looked and smelled great! It tasted even better also! 3. The atmosphere was very nice and relaxed you could eat outside, in the main dinning or the separate dinning. 4. There is lots of parking in the back! 5. The cost is not bad pretty average depending on what you get. Food tasted fresh not like it had been sitting there for hours. I personally got the Leighton sandwich which was delicious with the crab flat bread which I shared! Overall great place to hang out with friends as family!

I’ve never had a bad experience here. The food and service are excellent. The wine list is decent and the cocktails are better than most. The staff is the best in the area and are very patient and accommodating. The atmosphere is very relaxed, being more casual and the early afternoon and a little more formal in the evening. The bar side is always casual and by far my favorite area of the restaurant. Also, sitting outside with a glass of wine is pleasant. The menu is excellent. Must haves include: Vettriano(steak sandwich), Kahlo(turkey burger), Rembrandt(to die for salmon sandwich), the Nouveau salad, Purist Ahi(tuna appetizer). Monet Mussels(appetizer)… Everything is very well done. Oh, and the cakes they serve are SugarBakers Cakes(which are both delicious and local to MD). The only thing that has been a bother in the past… Reservations. They are easy enough to make but a pain if you don’t plan ahead on a busy night.

Came here to watch the USA-Portugal FIFA match since it was walking distance of my boyfriend’s apartment. The restaurant itself was fairly crowded for a late afternoon. The setup was very elegant and the staff was attentive and friendly. We ordered the Donatello dipper as our game time munchies. The dip itself was very creamy and not too salty, it was great. The baguette crisps were just right. We were so full after this alone, impressive. I docked a star because the drinks were a little pricey and not as strong as I hoped. We tried the $ 8 kiwi Collins special, it tasted great but I wished she upped the alcohol content. Long Islands were $ 7 after that, still a little on the mild side. I would definitely come here for lunch/dinner but I’m not too sure about cocktails. Cheers!
