Our server tried. The guy who said he owned the place had a major don’t give a shit attitude. After appetizers, dinner took over an hour to come out. He thought that was acceptable. Wouldn’t go back.

Nice location on the water front but service was HORRIBLE! Wait staff had bad attitudes and were condescending. For most of our meal we were the only people in the restaurant and yet it took an exceptionally long time to get our entrees. When we finally received our food it was mediocre. One side of my toasted sandwich was black. Staff was slow to clear empty glasses and appetizer plates from table. Don’t think I will be eating here again.

Disclaimer: I open restaurants for a living– I have pretty high expectations when dining. While passing through Owensboro I came across this«gem.» The atmosphere is lovely. It was a warm summer evening with a great sunset. I opted to sit on the patio to enjoy the breeze and the view of the river. There was a duo playing live blues music which was a nice touch. After I was seated the host brought some water which was a pretty good cue that it might be a minute before my server was with me. After 4 – 5 minutes, a girl with brunette hair came by. I wish she would have introduced herself so I could have remembered her name. I asked for a San Pellegrino– she looked at me like a deer in the headlights– I knew at that moment I was in for a «treat.» I told her soda water with lime would be fine. When she came back I asked for her wine list– she thumbed through the drink menu and showed me where I had missed it.(All the wines by the glass are summed up on half a page.) To say I was disappointed is an understatement. They advertise as a seafood restaurant… you would think their white wine selection would be rather thorough. I ordered an Angels Envy Old Fashion and the nice brunette asked if I wanted the bottle… the bottle of what? Angels Envy? Sure– if you’re going go sell it to me for the price of an Old Fashion!(Heavy sarcasm.). I explained to her it was just like the one on the cocktail menu– just with Angels Envy bourbon. Again– deer in the headlights look. Alas it arrived and was subpar. I then ordered the Parmesan encrusted oysters. They were dainty in size, over powered by the Parmesan and lacked really any other flavor. By this time I was starving and finished the ½ dozen in a solid 15 minutes. I sat with an empty cocktail and finished starter plate for about 12 minutes before I saw my server again.(Remember– I open restaurants for a living so I’m not just over exaggerating on time here.) I cashed out with her and moved inside in hopes for relief from the now annoying humidity, spot lights on the patio and better service all around. First, a stop at the bathroom. Over all it’s clean however the toilet in the second stall doesn’t flush. They might want to have maintenance take a look at that. I can’t decide if dinner at the bar was better or worse then my experience on the patio. They were out of the porter that’s on the beer list. Evidentially they’re in «transition.»(Beer lists are printed on paper and stuffed into sheet protectors. I’m not sure how difficult this is to update. Paper must be pretty expensive these days.) I opted for another Angels Envy old fashion. I ordered a 4oz filet. It came out pretty over peppered. The sides– corn on the cob and mashed potatoes were bland. A server brought some butter pretty quickly but it took about 10 minutes to get some salt. I had also ordered a lobster topping. It tasted like it came frozen in a bag from a food distributor and thawed out to be portioned in appropriate 3−5oz portions and then frozen again until ordered. What I’m saying is, it tasted like utter crap. In all, my $ 85 would have been better spent on my 4 year old nephews birthday party at a McDonald’s play house. It was just that bad folks. Manager Ben, I’ve never met you but I’ll tell you this; your staff and kitchen need some work. From menu knowledge, to pre-busing, updated menus and over all customer service. The best part of my entire meal was the luxardo cherry in my old fashion and your attentive host. Yikes.

I was very excited about trying this place out. Because I got the impression they were suppose to be about seafood. Only thing I got to try was their shrimp cocktail. Because they were still serving brunch at noon on a Sunday. Had a wasp problem outside didn’t really get to enjoy the view of the river. The place was very nice though very modern atmosphere. Maybe I will give it another shot later on. To be continued…

As a couple we came to Lure Seafood and Grill in Owensboro to eat sushi. We ordered a 5 piece Spicy Tuna and a 5 piece Philadelphia. After taking our drink and sushi order, and after waiting 15 minutes for drinks, our waiter returned to inform us he only had enough rice to make 5 pieces of sushi. We had to choose one order because no rice? His excuse was a busy lunch. Ridiculous! Keep some minute rice in the kitchen!!!

We were so surprised to find a restaurant in Owensboro of this quality. The steak and tuna rivaled food at new and upcoming Nashville restaurants but at a more reasonable price! I cannot tell you how fabulous our medium rare filet and tuna steak were. I’m comparing to Moto and Stoney River in Nashville. Excellent! Going back tomorrow for oysters on the half shell. Great mixology as well

When the boss is away… the services goes too. New waiter couldn’t answer simple questions about the menu, beer selection etc. ESPN talking on TV that couldn’t be seen, no music, an univiting atmosphere for a place like this. Sat outside because the AC was too cold inside, besides the TV that couldn’t be seen or understood drove me out. We asked for 3 menu items that were not available. But, on a good note the food was good and the river view is nice. Unfortunately, I will not go out of my way to come back here.

I have dined at Lure a few times thinking it will be better than the last time but I always end up slightly disappointed but this last time dining there I was very disappointed. My date and I had a reservation for an early dinner around 6:30pm. We were the first to be seated but the last to be served. We asked our waitress why our sushi was taking so long and pointed out that all the tables around us had already received their entrees and she said«Well… your sushi takes a lot longer to prepare than our other dishes.» So we waited another 15 minutes for our sushi on very uncooked terrible tasting rice. We asked the waitress to take it back and just bring us a salad to make it quick but the salad took another long wait. What surprised me was that the manager did not even bother to visit us(like the waitress said he would) to at least apologize for the wait and terrible food. Nor did he take the 4 sushi«bombs» off our check we just received a discount on each sushi roll. From experience, Lure has mediocre food, bad service and terrible management. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

I really want to like it… It is a beautiful atmosphere over looking the river and newly developed downtown area. If I was reviewing strictly on that, I would give five stars unfortunately I’m not. I have eaten here 3 times and every time I think it will be better, it’s not. I have never had good service or a good food experience. My first visit I ordered a filet cooked medium, it was brought to me burnt, dry, and with no pink to be seen, not even a little. I was never offered for it to be replaced, and I paid around $ 30 for a burnt steak. Second visit I ordered chicken fingers, thinking how can you really mess that up… well apparently you can. I was served chicken fingers that were so overcooked and salty I didn’t eat them, or bother taking them home to my husband. So for the bargain price of just under $ 30, I once again received terrible food. My most recent experience I ordered a shrimp and scallop pasta that claimed to be in a scampi sauce. The pasta that I received was so dry that it moved as one large clump of pasta in the bowl, so I asked for more sauce, what they brought as «sauce» was pretty much melted butter with minced garlic out of a jar that I’m pretty sure had just been microwaved to make it warm. My food was sent back and that was fine, they led my husband to believe that they would make and send out something else that was being made personally by the manager, pretty sure that they brought me out the exact same bowl of pasta that they added parsley and more garlic to, it was awful. They did at least remove it from my bill. All three visits had less than stellar service from the staff, so I want to like, but I just don’t.

Great food, drink and service! Guy was playing live music and he was unbelievable. Great place and atmosphere. Very good old fashion and the risotto and shrimp were amazing. I will return!

Great seafood restaurant in Owensboro located in the Hampton Inn. I had the drunken sea bass on a Tuesday and it was very fresh and delicious! The lentil mash it came with, was ok, not amazing. We tried the cheese balls appetizer for three people and was well portioned for us. It’s a unique cheese spread on bagel chips– something different to try. The atmosphere was great and the place is fairly new– very clean. It had a huge kitchen that you can see from the dining area. There was live music on Tuesday night which was a plus! Also they have a bar and sports was on the TV(the bar was fully seated). Good place to have dinner. I would definitely come back and would also try the lunch menu(which looked extensive). P. S. They do have dishes other than seafood.

Good and was worth the wait. Read entire long review if you want. Kind of like the service here, it’s worth the wait. I think… This could be a great restaurant, but instead it is a good restaurant with very good food. I was seated very quickly as it was not close to full. No worries with the sparse crowd as it is in a hotel on the riverfront, away from the bustle and on a Thursday night. Was served bread and water within three minutes. Good. Bread was a bit too done. Then sat there for ten more minutes(yes, I time it) with staff coming and going by my table and not stopping. A waiter checked on all three tables around me and then walked past me to go inside(I was seated outside). I flagged him down with an ‘excuse me?’. I asked for a wine menu; he got one from the table beside me after going inside and not finding one. Again, they were only at about ¼ capacity. My wine and lobster bisque were brought within five minutes. I’m not a lobster bisque fanatic like my very spoiled daughter(restaurant wise), but this was quite good. Large chunks of lobster, which is unusual. One lobster chunk was a bit cold in the middle, but with the thickness I wasn’t surprised. Rest was warm if not hot. But… the bisque was served with a regular spoon instead of a soup spoon. I would never serve soup in my own home without a soup spoon, even to my children. As I said before, large pieces of lobster; so I needed a soup spoon. I asked for a soup spoon. Nope. None available. Okayyyy. Waited another 15 minutes for the main course. Not bad. But then IT came. Swordfish with crab, shrimp, and andouille sausage jambalaya. WOW! Amazing! Much more meat/seafood than I expected. Seasoning spot on with tomato, celery, onion, okra and I’m not sure what else, only that together it was fantastic! I would give it a five, but staff needs to be trained better. Oh, and there was live music which was pretty darned good. Angel plays every Thursday I believe. I will be back if I am overnight for business here again.

I honestly don’t know how this restaurant has remotely good reviews. Our experience was terrible from beginning to end. I wouldn’t say we’re overly picky, but from waiting to be seated over 20 minutes when no one was in the place, to having the waitress not know a thing about the menu, to being served the wrong drink, another drink being spilled across our table, cold appetizer, bad(brown spine meat of the fish) sushi — no way on earth I would recommend eating here. The only redemption was the manager comping our meal because we showed him the food. We swiftly departed and ate elsewhere.

Impressive restaurant in a newer hotel. I stopped in for a quick bite and stayed a while. The bartender and his side kick Jose were hilarious. I had a wonderful glass of Hudson with bourbon ice(the large ball of ice instead of cubes). The pour was generous but not ridiculous. The bartender introduced me to their craft cocktail menu which I will have to try out next year. I ordered a sashimi plate and a rainbow roll and both were fantastic. The plating was nice and simple. Great place! I will stop again when I’m back in town!

I visited Lure late on a Sunday evening after a busy weekend. There had been a big air show. The service was a little slow but very friendly and helpful. They were apologetic because they were sold out of a lot of items. I ordered the wild caught blackened catfish. It was served with stewed tomatoes and okra and grits. The catfish was fiery and plentiful. Not quite crisp enough. The tomatoes and okra were great. Crisp and flavorful. Not at all slimy. Grits were creamy and well prepared. There was an extensive wine list. I chose a local IPA. It was nice and hoppy. I liked the local flair. My meal was good, not quite great. Service was good. I would eat here again.

I like this place. Went on a Wednesday and they had live music. Ordered the beef and ginger plate which is really just a appetizer along with the angry eel and firecracker sushi rolls and was very satisfied. The restaurant is connected to the Hampton hotel and was an easy choice to go back to the next night because of the rain. The waitress recommended the blackened trout but she shouldn’t have. It was thin not spicy enough and had bones. I should have gone with the sea bass. I was watching some March Madness on the TV after I got up from the table and was chatting with the owner. He comped me a beer which I took as a Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. I wasn’t entirely happy with the trout but it was presented well. My friend was happy with the crab cakes. The service was good both nights which seemed an issue for some reviewers Overall the place has a nice atmosphere the food is well presented a good drink menu.

What a gem. Elegant, modern atmosphere, personal sincere service, brunch buffet with a creative selection, and omelette made to order by the sous chef. The view of the river promenade makes the atmosphere even more inviting. A local recommended it and I certainly see why. Owensboro has a beautiful, newly renovated riverfront for which they should be proud.

Ben had me at chocolate martini… Stayed at the Waterfront Hampton Inn and so of course decided to give the Lure a try. Boy was it the best decision. Exceptionally phenomenal selection of appetizers to top shelf liqueurs, entrees, and desserts. Does the martini picture not speak for itself? A few of the things I had ordered: — stuffed shrimp — calamari — salmon sushi roll — whisky sour — chocolate martini What I enjoyed about the Lure were the unique flavors and quality of detail. I most enjoyed the stuffed shrimp with its lemon whipped cream. They do a very nice job in packing those unique flavors and present a pretty display. Not only was the food superior, but service was immaculate. Ben, the owner was there and very personable. Although a chocolate martini was not on the menu, he whipped up a delectable concoction that was better than anything I could have asked for. This is by far one of my new favorites in Owensborough! Thank you Ben! Time to take off!
