I use to come to this store once a week because I could find staples and foods not available at publix. However, the last time I was in I was followed around the store by a male worker and I’ve decided to drive to Winter Park’s whole foods instead since that incident. I can’t support a business that runs on racist and stereotypical practices. So very sad because this store is just down the street from my house.

I so badly want to like and patronize this store more than I do. I go to Chamberlains when I need something organic that I forgot to buy at Whole Foods and that Publix and Fresh Market don’t carry. I also go to Chamberlains to buy an occasional health care item. Recently, I became hooked on wheatgrass shots. I craved them daily, and ordered them from Wheatberry Café in Longwood and Whole Foods in Winter Park while on the road for work. I panicked when I realized there was no place in Oviedo-Winter Springs to buy wheatgrass juice, and then I had the«ah-ha!» moment. I remembered that the Chamberlains at Oviedo Mall had a juice bar, but did they still sell juices? During my previous visits to the store, the juice bar was always vacant. I never saw anyone behind the juice bar, and the fluorescent-lighted sign on the wall that listed the juices looked outdated. I decided to give it a try. On my first visit, no one was behind the counter. I realized they have a menu of juices listed on paper on the juice bar counter. I waited. I looked around. I then went to the cash register and asked if I could order a juice. The young lady at the register said she would take care of that for me. They don’t have a designated juice bar server; whoever is available to make it, makes it. This worked out well on my first visit, except for the young lady putting on her cap after she washed her hands. I was pleased with the small multi-juice beverage and my wheatgrass shot. I was so pleased I returned the very next day, and brought my husband so he could enjoy this experience. Here’s when the sh*t hit the fan. The young lady behind the register requested assistance at the juice bar. An older woman exited the back of the store wearing plastic gloves. She asks what we want. I tell her. She starts to pull out the veggies to make the juices. I ask her to change her gloves. She insists that she just put them on. Even with my obvious discomfort with her gloves, she keeps them on. She tells me that the veggies aren’t cut and she will have to cut them and this will take some time. «That’s fine,» I tell her with a forced smile. She has a bracelet of keys hanging around her wrist, which are dangling all over the veggies that she is cutting for our juice. My blood pressure is rising by the minute. Then! She tells me they’re out of wheatgrass!!! Seriously?! I’m ’bout to lose my sh*t. I tell her that the wheatgrass is pretty much the reason why we came into the store today. I guess she can see I’m not pleased, and she juices the little wheatgrass that they do have(1⁄3 of a shot) and gives it to me. After this experience, I kept telling myself I should give them one more try because they are close to home and I want to support healthy eating in my town; however, every time I thought about going, PTSD from my second experience kept me from going. About a month later I finally visited the third time. The girl from my first visit made my juices. They didn’t have one of the ingredients for the juice, but they did have wheatgrass. Summary: I won’t go to the juice bar as much as I’d like. The juice bar is not welcoming; it takes a long time for them to prepare juices; they don’t have all the ingredients for the juices; and their handling of raw food is not sanitary.

Wayyyy smaller selection of produce and no fresh meats/fish/frills as compared to Whole Foods but definitely your place for supplements. They have a HUGE selection of just about everything and a very helpful staff.

This is a local health food store chain in Central Florida region. Pros: Great selection of herbs, much more than Whole Foods has. A lot of Hyland(My favorite brand) products is sold here yet overpriced. Great selection of organic snacks. Modest bakery selection(Winter Park location has more) Never busy and you get attentive service. Cons: Prices is still higher comparing to Whole Foods or Vitamin Shoppe Limited selection of fresh food at this location which is hindering their ability to draw in consumers. Odd price matching protocol– They do not accept ads to match price but they do accept receipts of an item bought elsewhere to match price. Why would I buy something elsewhere and then show a receipt to Chamberlins to match it? It doesn’t make any sense. If you are a Chamberlins fan, the Winter Park location at the Winter Park Village is their anchor and best store. If you want attentive customer service then this is your location but be prepared to pay more. I think Chamberlains could improve their price match protocol by actually accepting competitors’ ads which should in effect boost business. Shop here if you are local and are in an urgent need of organic products. Otherwise, just drive a few miles down the road to Whole Foods in Winter Park. Located at Oviedo Mall(Formerly, Marketplace) near vacant Bed, Bath and Beyond.
