My friend and I went swimming here. It’s a bit hidden and we were driving around the area for awhile before we found it. Actually, our car GPS had indicated a larger water surface area than what we saw. We figured that perhaps some of the water had evaporated since the GPS map was created in 2005. We swam here for awhile and soaked in the sun. It’s a nice secluded area and it’s a fun«retreat» from the hectic life of the Vegas strip. The surrounding area is beautiful and an «oasis» from civilization. I could probably have sat there all day until dusk without being bothered by many people. Other than the two of us, we saw a family with beer in hand(and in the water too!), three dogs, and some kids swimming around. The water was clear for the most part, but I would caution touching the bottom of it. Since it’s a «beach»(albeit being man made) it’s difficult to detect exactly when the water level goes deeper. There’s also netting and some rocky areas under the water. One should be careful when they are stepping into it. Perhaps, one of the unique features is the serenity of the environment and the lack of any formalized parking space or recreational center. In another part of the marina, we saw an information area, but it seemed closed and a bit abandoned. Next to it, there was a sign that warned us to not go any further(our initial stop before we drove around and found another way to the water). We also saw cows in the area including a mama cow protecting her young. She seemed very concerned when I got out of the car and started taking photos. The place is a hidden gem in the middle of the desert. It’s man made and the sediment is very different than what you would expect from a real beach. However, it’s secluded and offers a retreat from people. I also saw folks fishing though I wondered if they actually caught something. A nice place to relax and chit chat. Not exactly that clean since people had the liberty to dump their garbage there without disposing it properly. Roads: The roads are not paved for a good portion into the marina area. Be careful. It’s probably better to not come in a sport car like we did and instead drive a 4×4. Also, wear sunscreen. There are multiple ways to get here and further down the road is Hoover Dam. Bathroom: Up from the water/beach area, there’s a public bathroom and to our happiness it was still open around 7pm. I would go here again. Minuses for the lack of information and facilities and perhaps for the pavement. If you are in the area, it’s a nice place to swim and relax. A bit romantic too. Fee: Also, we saw a «fee» sign, but we never paid any fee. The place seemed a bit abandoned. Parking: Unpaved parking(on your own and of your choosing, completely non marked).
