Talk of the Town

Great food! Cold beer! Waitress didn’t have much personality but she did good at taking care of us. Just didn’t speak or laugh or interact. We loved the atmosphere and everything about the place. We eventually got the poor waitress to smile! She seemed sad! Just wanted to hug her. Still enjoyed the evening. Will come back again and hope to even get to sit with her again and give her another try and see if she has a better day. Left her a 40% tip cuz she seemed heavy hearted and it weighed on my heart.

I have to say, we have really been impressed with this place. We like the high tables and private high booth seating. Everything we’ve tried has been really good. The boneless wings are great. We’ve tried several different varieties of those. The burgers and fish tacos are good. Sometimes it takes a while to see your waiter but it depends on who you get. Great bar food

We came in tonight and the bar tenders were drunk… They completely ignored me and my party sitting at the bar top while they were talking amongst themselves and taking shots with their buds at the bar top. We literally had to flag bar tenders down to get our first round of drinks… After sitting there for a solid 10 minutes.

3 stars is about all I can give to TOTT. Though the ½ price burgers on Wednesday is a steal, I just didn’t find the food/​beer to justify giving an extra star. Don’t get me wrong; the food’s not bad by any means, it’s just overwhelmingly mundane. The patty wasn’t dry but wasn’t juicy either, and despite the fact that mine was topped with a habanero guacamole it was surprisingly flavorless. The waffle fries had a tinge of sogginess to them but not enough to complain about. The beer list is actually worthy of complaints, especially knowing that Barley’s is across the street…(thank goodness we have Tank 7, a high quality craft beer that ends up on tap everywhere because it’s local!)
So overall, I wouldn’t say Talk of the Town is really the talk of the town. Maybe their ½ price burgers are, though.

I came here to watch a KU basketball game on a Tuesday night. Our server, Jocelyn, was great. She was available but didn’t hover, and she suggested great wings that had a mix of the atomic buffalo and Carolina barbecue sauces, then grilled. So good!
Great specials on Tuesdays, by the way: $ 3 all New Belgium beers, and $ 6 apps all night.

I have only dined at Talk of the Town on Wednesdays for the half price burger special. I have been many Wednesdays over the years and tried many of the burgers. I have always had a great expirences and the burgers are really good. Last time we had the loaded up waffle frie appetizer and those were so addictive and good. With a burger and a beer only my dinner is around $ 8.35. They have many burgers to choose from which should please any burger lover. If you have never been or just want a great quality cheap dinner try talk of the town on Wednesday.

This was a very pleasant surprise. Great service. Wife and daughter came along. Great portions. Pot roast appetizer was good. Tarragon salad was solid. Girls all took home leftovers. Definitely going again.

I always enjoy coming here. The food is pretty good for «bar food» … The potato skins were the best thing on the menu but got taken off, too bad because they were SO good. The drinks are good and can be cheap depending on what night you go! I personally love their slurpees. It’s a fun place to go and watch sports, they have plenty of huge TVs. After 10 you need an ID to get in and the music gets really loud. It’s a very relaxed/​fun environment!

We had lunch today at Talk of the Town because Barleys was a longer wait. Big mistake… we should have waited. The hamburger was average at best, the pizza dough was under cooked so we sent it back & still wasnt that good. chicken fingers were average also. I can saw whoever is the new owner needs a better cook; we will not be back to eat there.

Above average for a bar/​restaurant. Food was good. Price was very reasonable with good portion sizes and friendly service. Was not blown away, but definitely satisfied. Will be back for sure.

If you wanna throw calories out the window, then get the «potato nachos.» (The name cracks me up) A giant plate of waffle fries covered in queso and other goodies. No less than 3000 calories of heaven, I was a little embarrassed ordering it. They used to have a veggie burger, so I asked about it, as it was no longer on the menu. Our server said it’s not very good. At least she was honest? Also, this is quite the old people hang out, if you’re into that…

I had a good experience there nothing to brag about just bar and grill spot to visit. The staff are friendly and make sure you are satisfied. They make good drinks that’s for sure.

Until recently, it had been about 10 years since I had been to Talk of the Town. A group of us used to go every Wednesday for their ½ priced burgers. I think I just got burnt out on it. One day my coworker was mentioning that her husband loves the burgers there. I had mentioned it to the bf because he was craving a good burger and it had been awhile since we had been there so decided to take the fam. It was just as good as we remembered. A few favorites were taken off the menu but my surfin’ burger was still there! My kids shared the baked mac & cheese with bacon and loved it. I tasted it and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was.
Service was great. It was pretty packed so we were excited to be seated almost immediately. Everyone there was friendly and very helpful!

Enjoyed coming here. The staff was very nice, and welcoming when we came in the door. Wasn’t to busy.
Food was pretty good, would like to go back and try something else. I had a wrap and it was pretty good.
Was told they had a pretty good dessert if your looking for a challenge. Did see anyone with it but I’ve heard they had a sundae that you’ll want to make sure you have a group to share it with.
I do look forward to going back.

Bar food and plenty of it. Can’t say anything stands out here on the menu. Come for the game watches. This place is usually packed so if you are looking for a quite place to talk this ain’t your place. Waitstaff is mediocre. Just a bunch of college kids working for tips.

One of my favorite Places to hang out and bring my family to.
Their food just prices perfect and their food portions are pretty good. they had couple super friendly servars. They take the order exactly as ordered and bring it over to the table. They keep up with any thing you need even if they’re not asked.
At their pick up orders some of the servers just put you on hold for like 15 minutes which is annoying. But their food taste make you forget about that issue.
I totally recommend this store.

We have been going to the Talk for about 3 years. Over the past three months the service and food have seriously declined. Tonight was the last straw and the last time I will go. The changed the menu and a lot of little changes make a big difference. Use to be able to sub fries for tater tots or waffle fries, now everything is an up charge. I ordered the TOTT Sandwich (shaved prime rib). The meat tasted bad and appeared to be spoiled. I took another piece from the middle and it was as bad. The people we were with had a mac and cheese side (which she liked, but price when up by $ 1.50 for a side. The other had a Juicy Lucy burger which he was good. Each week they run out of wine glasses and refuse to buy more. There was a roach on the floor in the dining room and one in the restroom.
The waitresses are slow and only two or three are true servers. They (management) do not appear to care anymore. Each week we (each couple) spend anywhere from $ 40-​$ 70. I can no longer see spending my money there when the quality of food, service and cleanliness have declined so much.
TOTT — it was nice while it lasted; too many other places to get a good meal.

It was only after I moved far away to Jersey City that I realized how much I loved this place. I love the vibe here. the atmosphere is fun, the servers are friendly and both the drinks and food are amazing! Since I used to stay right next to it, this was my go-​to bar in OP. Oh how I miss the chicken fried steak with home made gravy.:(

I am rating this 4 stars based solely on the ‘bar’ aspect of it. (I haven’t had the actual food in years)
Overall this is a pretty fun spot to hangout, especially if you live round the area and want to ‘go out’ without having to go all the way out to Westport or P&L. The drinks are reasonably priced, and service has always been very friendly, prompt and accurate which is pretty impressive considering how busy they can get on game nights or weekends!
Every time I go, I’m always seeing people I know or making new friends, the atmosphere is very jovial and fun which always brings out the best in people and makes this a really easy place to meet people if you’re new to the area, or just looking to branch out a bit!

I am reviewing Talk of the Town for steak night. I live close by, and I like a cheap steak special. Theirs is quite good, on Saturday night. You get a giant sirloin steak of indeterminate cut, a strip or sometimes a ribeye. It changes. It comes with a salad and a baked potato. I’ve been here many times on Saturday for this special and have always been happy. The salad is always fresh and nice, the potato is fine, and the steak is pretty much A-​OK considering that the whole thing is $ 11 and it will feed me for three meals.
I usually order medium rare or medium, and it’s always pretty close to what I asked for. Neighborhoody sort of place, there’s typically lots of folks in there from softball leagues in the summer and other groups of friends who seem like regulars at other times (I’m never here after 6:30). It’s a bar more than a restaurant. The service is friendly.
