My wife and I visited this past Friday night. Louie’s has a unique atmosphere and a great wine. The food menu is also unique and fantastic. Our waiter was prompt and engaging. Looking forward to their upcoming patio. We will definitely visit again.

Was a great environment until I ordered my food and watch them prepare it with no gloves in the kitchen or front line where they were touching your food!!! Cancel my order and left!!!

Allergy-friendly, cool atmosphere, and centrally-located. Most of the food sounds better than it tasted, except the gnocchi. YUM

Ah, Louie’s, I wanted to like you more. For now, can we just be friends? You just weren’t quite what I was expecting in a brunch spot and I’m not sure if I like you like that. Maybe brunch isn’t what you do best? I suspect you might have other talents that I just haven’t uncovered yet. Maybe we can hang out again in the future, perhaps for Happy Hour? The hubby and I checked out this newest Louie’s incarnation for brunch and we weren’t blown away, but didn’t hate it, either. We arrived mid-morning on a Sunday about fifteen minutes before the church crowd hit, so our timing was impeccable. We ordered the grapefruit mimosa pitcher and I liked it while the hubby thought it was too bitter. Um, grapefruit? Bitter? Clearly, the hubby doesn’t know what unsweetened grapefruit is like. Nonetheless, he managed to consume about 2⁄3 of the pitcher because the mimosas were strong and I was the DD, so he couldn’t have disliked the flavor that much. For his brunch entrée, the hubby had the Huevos Rancheros and was pleased with his selection despite having them hold the miso butter due to his dairy allergy. He didn’t feel like the ommission left the dish lacking in any way. I had the Classic Benedict which was a bit light on the hollandaise and the hollandaise wasn’t quite right. The proportions of lemon juice and butter were off leading to a sauce that wasn’t flavorful enough. Our server was sweet and helpful and food/mimosas came out quickly, but she did forget to bring my hubby’s side of fruit.

Happy hour offers a good variety of drinks & eats! Love the unique menu items, and on most occasions, the ingredients taste fresh. The wait staff is generally friendly and knowledgeable, though at times lacking in attentiveness. The sangria is awesome, as is the hibiscus — make sure to go to brunch at the original location!

I could tell Louie’s Wine Dive was my kind of place when I saw that the servers were wearing tshirts with an image of a pig staring into a wine glass… We came for HH which goes from 4−6pm. Even if you don’t care for wine, they offer other basic drinks(i.e., Moscow Mules etc) and all local beers for $ 4. The tap list is a very small but good-enough collection: a couple Boulevards, a KC Bier Co, a rotating seasonal tap and a rotating Deschutes tap. More impressive, however, was their Old Fashioned. Now I am an Old Fashioned snob and am pretty picky about how they are prepared, but the sage in their Old Fashioned caught my attention so I decided to try it. I was(way too) excited to see that our server was more than happy to talk with me about my preferences for the drink and that he actually knew what he was talking about! The drink was easy and smooth with a nice hint of herb-iness. Certaily not the most innovative cocktail I’ve ever had, but it was yummy and at $ 9 it was totally worth it. HH food options are limited but solid as well — I had some calamari which was not too chewy and nicely seasoned; my friends enjoyed their steak frites. My other friend really enjoyed her gnocchi and commented on how tasty the bread was. I also have to comment on how awesome our server, Ryan, was. People in our group kind of moseyed in in a staggered fashion but he immediately greeted each new person in our group and got our orders in efficiently. He came and checked on us frequently. AND as icing on the cake, he consistently filled our waters and replaced when we were getting low — a personal pet peeve of mine when this doesn’t happen(be responsible when you serve alcohol, people!!), so I am always super happy to be well-hydrated :) I also noted a staff member(manager?) walking around and personally greeting customers. Love it when restaurants reach out with these gestures — you can tell they actually care about what they’re doing. Great HH prices, an appreciation for cocktails, and awesome staff? Yep, these are my kinda people… I’ll definitely be back!

I am updating my review now that I have been to Louie’s three times. I still think the food and wine and selection is amazing, and you can hopefully see my last review for suggestions. It is a top notch, classy place for friends or an important outing! Unfortunately I don’t feel like my friends and I got the respect we deserved when we visited in January. Given, the restaurant was very crowded, our server took our order and left us in the dust. The part that gets me is that he actively checked on all tables around our table — who were older adults(we are all 22 and look very young). It had me feeling that it was age related, maybe he didn’t think he would get a good tip from younger adults?(I am a good tipper, over 20% if decent service) Because he was flying by, when we did try to get his attention he got our wine order wrong because he gave us two seconds(literally) to spout out our orders. I will probably be back, but hopefully we get checked on and aren’t left with empty glasses for twenty minutes!

We had a group of seven and every plate was clean at the end of our brunch! Some of our group was local and some of us were in town from Chicago. The food was excellent! I personally ordered the Drunken French Toast. I was worried it would be extremely rich, but it was perfect! Other recommendations– Maple Wings(AMA-ZA-ZING!!!), Crab Cake Benedict, and Mile High Omelette. And of course don’t leave without trying one of their Mimosas or Bloody Marys. I plan to visit this adorable gem every time I’m in town. Our waiter was also wonderful, although I didn’t get his name.

Everything we ate here was Fantastic! We came for Happy Hour so we tried the Margarita Pizza, Squeaky Cheese, Calamari, Violet eyes, Moscow mule’s, Trip to Jalisco’s. Everything was just great. The service was great as well. The restaurant was beautiful with the wine bottle lighting. Very romantic yet Hipster yet casual all in one.

Louie’s Wine Dive & Kitchen 119 is a great dinning option for people with gluten allergies. They clearly indicate which items on the menu are naturally gluten free(gf), as well as indicate items can be modified to be GF(gf2). Plus, one of the best things is that you can eat any food that is fried because everything that is placed into the fryer uses a rice batter. The menu boast a high number of dinning options, including GF pasta, that is actually quite good. The noodles are cooked well is that they are not too hard and didn’t end up mushy. Happy hour offers a nice option to if you are looking to minimize your cost. Seven deviled eggs for $ 5? That’s not a bad deal. Plus the cocktail selection offers a nice collection of drinks. For a safe gf dinning option and a friendly service, Louie’s is a great choice.

I’m far from a wineo, but the food was EXCELLENT! I had the 4 Pork Gnocchi which was amazing and highly recommended. Enjoyed it with water and a Moscow Mule. Service was great and our waiter was very nice. Atmosphere was pleasant, it was a little bit loud but I would be willing to give the place a go again for the 4 Pork Gnocchi alone!!!

We went to Louie’s last night for the third, and last time. Not because the food is bad, but why do I want to go somewhere and have my wife treated rudely by the manager? The first time we went was for a Sunday dinner and it was okay. The food was fine, my wife had the 4 Pork Gnochi, my daughter had the Roasted Chicken and Corn Carbonara, while I had the Blackened Salmon Salad. We split a bottle of wine and all in all I’d give it 2 stars. Nothing extraordinary, but nothing awful either. A couple of weeks later we went out with our neighbors for Happy Hour and suggested Louie’s. We had a lot of fun — they drank various beers and my wife and I split a bottle of wine. Along with that we had the Deviled Eggs, 4 Cheese Shrimp BBQ Flatbread, and the Confit Chicken Wings. It was fun and the atmosphere was great for a Friday night Happy Hour. Again, it would be about 3 stars for the food and drink and maybe 2.5 stars more for the service that night. Now, last night everyone in Johnson County, KS must have decided to go out for Friday Night Happy Hour. Parking was at a premium so I dropped my wife off because she completed chemo 2 months ago and it was getting cold pretty fast. As I parked the car in the lot to the furthest south of Louie’s I walked in and my wife was waiting for me. There were open tables and I said, «What’s up?» She said, «Well, I went to that table in the bar, set my purse down and was taking my coat off and the manager came over with quite the attitude and said ‘I’ve reserved that table for someone else’.» My wife said, «Oh, I didn’t know, and started to pick up her coat, purse, phone, etc. and the manager said, ‘Do you want me to put your name in for a reservation’?» Again he apparently had quite the tone with my wife, who is obviously just recovering from chemo with her hair barely coming back. So I said we should go and asked if I should take our name off the reservation list and my wife laughed and said she didn’t put it on the list because the snooty manager said, «Well, if you are seated it will be in the dining room and you will not get happy hour.» To which my wife felt like saying, «Then why is there a reserved table in the bar and I can’t use it?» But, she’s too nice, I’m not. So last night they get zero stars — zippo! Now I’ve decided this, there are way too many places in Johnson County, KS that want our business and will treat us well, especially for the money it costs to get 2 star food and 1 star wine at 4 star prices. There is no way I’m going to set foot into Louie’s again — as a matter of fact, I’m going to make sure every social media site I use is aware of how my wife was treated last night and that the food just okay, but the manager is close to Shrek before he finds out that Ogres can be nice.

So I usually go to the one in Waldo for brunch and when I heard this one was opening I was super excited because I live down the street. A friend and myself decided to try it out for dinner Saturday night. Our server was Sierra(I believe that was her name) and she was wonderful. She was so patient with us while we had our girls night. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio and we couldn’t decide what we wanted to eat so we shared the calamari and the coconut noodles with shrimp. Omg it was so delicious. I can’t believe I’ve never been there for dinner! We were so satisfied with everything! I then decided to come back for brunch the next morning. Our server was a little strange but funny lol. I love the crab cake Benedict so that’s what I ordered and when I got my eggs they were pretty much hard boiled. They server immediately took it back and I believe the manager came over and apologized and let me know that it would only be a few minutes. The server brought it out really quickly and it was perfect. And when he brought our bill they had comped it. I was really surprised and told him he didn’t have to do that and the server replied with«well if you’re gonna serve brunch you should probably know how to cook an egg.» Touché sir.

My wife and I decided to grab lunch today at a place participating in Restaurant Week. We saw that Louie’s was on the list. Because we live in the area and had just been to Costco, we wanted to find out about Louie’s. After being seated and given only the regular menu, I asked for the RW menu and received it moments later. My wife ordered from the regular menu and I from the RW menu. A few minutes later, the server came back and apologized that they didn’t offer their RW menu during Sunday brunch. He said they didn’t have everything they needed to fix it. No problem. Crab Cakes Benedict was hardly a sacrifice. A little while later, the server brings me a bowl of the shrimp bisque from the RW menu. He told me that they did have some and it was complimentary. I thanked him profusely and enjoyed the really good shrimp bisque with fried onions. Our brunch orders came and the crab/eggs Benedict, by the way, was excellent Shortly thereafter, our server brings a plate of the blackened chicken breast that I originally ordered. It came with the advertised brussels sprouts but had a quinoa salad instead of the original specified item. The server said they really wanted me to have what I originally ordered and were trying their hardest. I’ll say! While I wanted to, I couldn’t eat both. But I tried the RW entrée which was really good and boxed up the rest. I told my wife that their preparation of blackened chicken made me want to go home and try out my long dormant blackening techniques. RIP Paul Prudhomme. The food was really quite good. But the service and effort that went in to giving me what I originally ordered plus what I thought was a great second choice, was above and beyond. That kind of effort will make me sing their praises and be a sure repeat customer. Thanks to all those involved in this great effort. I am a big fan right now.

Honestly I was disappointed given what I had heard about Louie’s. We went in on new years eve to a reduced size menu. Our greet was immediate and pleasant. We started with a couple of glasses of wine from an eclectic list of good wines but there was not a lot of price variance. When we received our wine after a little bit longer wait than I would’ve expected I was surprised that for a wine bar they served the red wine extremely warm. It was as if my wine had been served from a bottle sitting under a heat vent. I had to ask to have it fixed as the waitress didn’t really know what to do with my issue, but she was new so it’s easily forgiven. I thought it may have just been me but the table next to me sent their wine back as being too warm as well. I was disappointed to have a good glass of wine ruined by poor storage, especially given the fact this is a «wine dive» Our cheese board arrived and it was nicely presented but for the price a bit smallish and not what you would expect. When the steak arrived, again we were surprised. The steak was extremely undercooked, which is better than overcooked, and unfortunately not a very flavorful cut of meat. This combined with the inconsistent cooking of the gratin potatoes, ranging from overcooked to undercooked in the same dish, made me question the expertise of the chef and kitchen. Our service was okay. I would say she did the best she could with the bar and kitchen working against her. I would have thought a visit by the manager would have been warranted, given the issue with the wine and the food but sadly this didn’t occur. In fact I saw no management presence throughout the night other than someone from the kitchen dropping off our recooked steak and muttering a quick insincere apology So with the poor kitchen and beverage execution and the lack of management interaction I’m not sure I’ll return. I would have thought with a reduced menu for the evening great execution and excellent quality would’ve been easily obtainable. Sadly I was mistaken. I hope my experience was out of the norm as I’m sure it isn’t the expectation of the chef or the owner.

Stopped in last night for a quick drink with a friend. Ordered the Grandma’s Garden cocktail, loved it. Will be back for that. Restaurant was hopping. Waitress recognized me from my previous visit, was very nice and talkative. Everything is being well run for being open only a couple weeks. Owner keeps a close eye on everything. The place will be nuts once they have their grand opening, then it will be hard to get a table. Still super excited this place opened in OP. We have been long, long overdue for a wine bar.

Great atmosphere! Awesome scratch kitchen. Sometimes you just want a glass of wine, or three. This is a fun and unpretentious environment. The lobster gravy-crab poutine is amazing.
