Gave my son a botched circumcision. In my first visit to the doctors office they let a baby fall 4 feet off a medical exam bed. The nurse told me the doctors will often give immunizations against the parents requests because they know better. They don’t work with you for the best care for your kids. They strong arm and dictate what treatment the child will receive. Don’t take your children here. This place is a dangerous place for your children.

I moved to KC when my son was 3 months old. We really liked our pediatrician where we lived in Portland and were sad to leave him. I was referred to a doctor and took him there for my son’s 4 month appt. The doctor we wanted wasn’t available and the doctor we saw was horrible! We didn’t return to that practice. Then we visited another practice where we saw a NP for my son’s six and nine month visits. She was fine, but when we finally we saw our doctor at my son’s 12-month visit, he didn’t even give him a full exam. Both of these doctors also encouraged us to go see a specialist for the flat spot on my son’s head. The specialist(after spending quite a bit on x-rays) told us that he wasn’t concerned at all with my son’s head. Finally we found a practice we love! My son is a patient of Dr. Rawson and my daughter is a patient of Dr. Loch(because Dr. Rawson was on leave when my daughter was born and we really enjoyed our hospital experience with Dr. Loch). I really like knowing that there are two doctors in this practice that will know both of my children. Whenever I call to voice a concern, a nurse always contacts me within the hour. We have never spent more than 10 minutes in the waiting room. I like that they have a walk-in clinic as well, which we have used once, but also that I am able to make an appointment for the same day. I think my only issue is that they don’t have divided sick and well areas(though they do try to get patients back to rooms quickly). After a couple of well visits, my daughter did catch a cold, but nothing serious enough to prompt us to return. I am glad it took us a few tries to find this practice, because I think it makes me appreciate everything about it that much more.

When I first walked through the doors in search of a pediatrician for the baby in my belly, I was greeted, handed the information I needed, directed to the website, encouraged to ask questions, and had a good feel about the place from the waiting room. I visited other offices that day, and was not treated the same at all. We have been taking our son to JoCo Pediatrics for just over two years now, and think they are great. Dr. Rawson is his doctor, and we just love her! All of the doctors and nurses we have dealt with though, have been very good. We had one kind of gruff experience with one of the male doctors while we were still in the hospital, but I was also totally out of my head with hormones, new baby, and little sleep. It is hard to be objective in that state. Today I had to take A. in to get vaccines that he couldn’t get at his check-up(he had a fever then.) We came in during walk-in hours, and it was really easy. The walk-in hours are a big plus about the office… every weekday, plus Saturday mornings. I also like the large waiting room, the attention to cleanliness, and the booklet that they give you the first time you come in. It covers all of the basics(colds, fever, throwing up, baby stuff, burns, etc.) and tells you what to do, and at what point you should call them or come in. It really helped prevent some nervous calls from us as first-time parents.
