I just discovered last week that this location exists and it is just as splendid as the others. So happy I can get quality coffee in the ‘burbs and at a reasonable price.

My FAVORITE coffee shop, place to meet friends, anything and everything in between. Just an amazing shop.

I’ve been to this Filling Station location a few times. The drinks are pretty good here! Tea, coffee, lattes, etc. Their juices are good too! A little pricey, but very good. This is a pretty decent place to study, but some of the tables are small — they have one large table, though, and if I get a spot there I’m usually set! The bathroom isn’t very nice and is sometimes in need of a cleaning — just a heads up! A bright spot is that everyone that I’ve interacted with has been super nice and willing to recommend things from the menu, which is much appreciated. Bottom line: it’s a great option when I’m in the area, but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to go there.

Underwhelming to say the least. I just moved back to this neighborhood and had heard good things. I love to support local, but there was a lack of hospitality from the staff. I was greeted with«what would you like…» A little less than friendly. Add to it the limited coffee menu, it wasn’t a great first impression. Oh the plus side, they have a little of everything: food, pastries, coffee, and tea. It’s obviously directed towards the high school crowd across the street, which is smart but kind of a let down for a 30-something coffee lover. I’ll try it again, but it’s definitely not in my top 3 in KC.

Best almond milk lattes & au laits hands down. Best quick breakfast sandwiches & pastries. The employees are always friendly & make you feel like family. The locations are in convenient spots around town.

The Filling Station is coffee gold. There is nothing about any one of their three locations(Gillham, Westport Drive-Thru, and this Johnson Dr. location) that should keep you from enjoying java joy at all times of the day. The Johnson Drive location serves up the same great coffee(Messenger Coffee Co), freshly juiced juices, savory pastries, and other great items inside an industrial setting. Metal dominates the scenery here and gives off a roasterie type feel to the venue. Baristas are friendly, quick, and artistically create lattes and other milk-infused drinks. Don’t pass up an opportunity to stop here. The only drawback is limited parking and funky maneuvering to get back on the main drag.

Love this place! Chill music, great coffee, amazing service. I am one of those friendly but difficult customers who wants Stevia instead of sugar(they gladly made my cappuccino with a packet of Stevia that I provided them), and coconut milk instead of cow’s milk. They were so accommodating and didn’t make me feel like I was acting like Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally. :) The parking lot can fill up quickly, with no alternative parking options nearby. So I recommend going during slow hours.

loud, no place for a peaceful visit. Baristas are more concerned about being hip than service. Typical coffee shop mentality. Food/machiato was presented nicely but subpar for the ratings here. good luck figuring it out

Probably one of the top three cafés I have ever been to. I think I even like it better than La Caféothèque in Paris. Staff is extremely friendly and fast. Even the clientele is enjoyable and adds to the very pleasant atmosphere. Macchiatos are spot on which impresses me the most. If you’re in the neighborhood and want coffee this is a must. If you’re not in the neighborhood it’s a very good excuse for a detour.

Let me preface this with the fact that I am not a coffee drinker. I’ll occasionally pretend I am and have a white chocolate mocha from one of those big box coffee shops but you and I both know that ain’t real. My brothers were in town and wanted coffee. The QT coffee didn’t cut it so I went in search of another option. I remembered this place down the street. Clearly it was the right choice as one of my managers was leaving as I arrived(oops — I should upgrade the coffee at work) and said it was terrific. I waited in line — this was around 8:10 a.m. — for a few minutes and when it was my turn to order I stepped right up. I started out with«I don’t know anything about coffee» to which the cashier/juice maker replied«that will be $ 1 extra». I love me a little sass with my coffee. I ordered the two coffees and a juice for me(lighter on the ginger please) and she happily obliged. 10 minute later I stepped out with my cups. 5 minutes after that I had two happy(and silent for a brief moment) brothers. Thank you, Filling Station! okaybye. Aimee

Hmmm, this is a tough one. My gut reaction is to assign two separate ratings. I’d give the Filling Station on Johnson Drive four stars of «Yay, I’m a fan» as a place to grab decent food and drink, perhaps briefly catch up with a friend, do a little reading with your cup of coffee or tea or juice. As a place to grab something to eat/drink and do some work or study, I’d have to go with the two sad stars of «Meh, I’ve experienced better.» So it really depends on what your purpose is in going. I’ll split the difference and go three. Unfortunately for me, my typical usage of cafes falls in the second camp. I tend to spend more time in cafes doing some writing/schoolwork. And, sadly, the Filling Station doesn’t lend itself super well to that. Part of it is the size and setup of the space. It’s a garage, and the space is still pretty garage-y, which is cool, but has its limitations. There are three or four small, two-seater tables in the middle of the open plan seating area, and they’re quite close together. The only other seating is on stools around the perimeter, where simple counters of varnished boards have been installed, and it’s pretty industrial in style, with square metal painted stools providing the counter seating. There is a six-top table, which is I think the only seating area that is located near outlets, and every time I’ve been there, there have been one or two people camped out at it, taking the whole thing up. I get the industrial vibe and workign with the garage chic(flowers are planted in stacks of tires outside and there are motorcycle tanks hanging on the cinderblock wall inside as décor. Greasemonkey hip is fine. But it’s not a cozy aesthetic(and I know it’s not supposed to be). Most of the seating isn’t especially comfortable or inviting, which additionally makes it unappealing for doing work for an hour-plus. Also, I’ve not been able to access wifi, and that’s unfortunately a dealbreaker within this context. The beverages and food, on the other hand, are quite good! Prices are kinda on a wide range of what I’d consider reasonable… many coffee drinks and iced tea seem to be pretty budget-friendly. Sandwiches and wraps seemed a touch steep, though they come with chips, and when you get them, they ARE fairly large portions. The presentation is nice, in a shallow aluminum dish. Their juices seem pricey, but are fresh made to order using great looking produce, so you pay a bit more for something that’s of high quality. Overall, I’d say it’s a nice place to go to grab a breakfast or lunch with a friend and catch up briefly. Food and drinks are good, waitstaff is pleasant. It doesn’t really hold up as well for a longer stint, and isn’t the best place for buckling down and getting work done, so if that’s a priority in a coffee shop like it is for me, might look elsewhere if that’s on your agenda.

Providing free internet is a standard service for all coffee shop and most fast food restaurants. FSC only provide a 30 minutes free internet through Time Warner just isn’t meet the standard yet. Customers would not like spend time to go through the registration and giving up personal information for 30 minutes of internet.

Ordered the mango iced tea(+1), kale salad($ 8 for a plate of kale and three pieces of pineapple and what I think is defrosted frozen mango with a very sweet dressing — I’d say skip it), and the cordon bleu quiche(totaling around $ 20 including tax). The quiche had some kind of gross cheese in it, but I ate around it somewhat successfully, and it was all good… plus, the guy making my food gave me a gigantic piece, so I’ll call that a win! A lot of people try to come here to work or study throughout the day, but honestly there are not enough large work spaces, or more importantly insufficient number of outlets. All 6 of the outlets are centralized near the table that seats six, but only two people at a time ever sit there. And they don’t move(yep that’s me – guilty)… Anyway, the rest of the smaller two-tops do the job, but I’ve seen multiple groups filter in and out tote bags and backpacks a-bursting, only to turn right back around because there’s not enough seating for them. If you’re flying solo or are just meeting someone for coffee, you’ll probably be fine. I enjoy the ambiance overall, and I like the whole garage atmosphere — when it’s nice, they open it up; it’s light, bright and cheery here, so I’m a fan of this place despite the lack of outlets and shady cheese offerings. I kind of want to give this place a 3 since my food was meh, but I just like how light and relaxed everything feels here, and I’ll probably come back, so a reluctant four stars and a recommendation to stick to the drinks.

Wow! What great tasting quality espresso… and the sausage pepper jack quiche was delicious. I can’t wait to go back and try the various fresh juices they offer, and other pasty and food items! The inside has great big windows that allow lots of natural light. Just enough seating. It wasn’t TOO busy either which I enjoyed. A great little gem of a coffee shop to stop at before you do some shopping in the area, or for just for an afternoon pick me up!

If a coffee place has really good drip coffee(nothing special) then it says a lot about their other drinks. I thought the regular coffee had good flavor. We were able to go in order and get our drinks in a few minutes, but I guess we did just get drip coffee… And our coffee was only like $ 2, it’s not specialty anything but I thought it was cheap considering some places charge insane prices. I like the new age feel of the inside. The parking lot is a mess and they don’t have enough, but just pull up some grass.

Let’s start this review off on the right foot. The quality of beverage products you receive here is top notch! I got an iced chai tea double dirty, a slice of spinach parmesan quiche, and picked up a go to kale on the way out the door. The chai was a spicy black ginger. The flavor was amazing and it warded off the bitter back end of the double shot of espresso. I enjoyed the slightly spicy finish that lingered. It made the drink. Seeing my quiche get microwaved was a turn off, but it had good flavor. I feel like the microwaving made the bottom crust soggier than it should have been. The quiche was ok at best, but this was my first trip here, so you live and you learn. I feel like the investment of a salamander would keep the food in this place up to snuff with the drinks. The go to kale was a great juice. Kale, cucumber, and jalapeño were the 3 main ingredients that came through in the drink’s flavor. I happily drank it on the way home. Watching them stuff fresh produce into their juicer right in front of you is a nice touch. The service is a bit slow. There’s a one trick pony behind the counter doing everything. The quality of product you get makes it worth the wait. I highly recommend Filling Station for great coffee and freshly juiced drinks. We love that this place is close to our house! We’ll be back for sure.

I was really excited to find a local coffee shop near me. I ordered a drip coffee refillable mug and the coffee was served warm, but not hot. It was cold before I got halfway through and was good, but not great coffee. I also tried a piece of quiche, which was warmed up but not hot all the way through. I read reviews and heard many people go there to work. However, the set up isn’t conducive for much productivity. It’s all one big room and there are no quiet corners to get away from the line of traffic. Service was pretty friendly but I had to wait for refills because the workers were in the back chatting(quite loudly). Overall, I was a bit disappointed, likely in part because I had such high expectations from other feedback.

I love this place first time I’ve been here and both my coffee and my fresh fruit juice were both very good! The service was perfect. The Wi-Fi is free! And I imagine from the looks of it that the food is pretty tasty here. I will certainly be back for another visit!!!

I was in the area running errands the other morning, choosing a granite slab and picking up paint supplies for our kitchen renovation. I had some time in between appointments(and before Oklahoma Joe’s, which is just a few minutes away, opened), so I decided to pop in. I’m glad I did.(And btw, my husband, wanted me to give him a shout-out to him in a review because he often watches the kiddos while I’m down in Kansas City meandering around and trying new places to eat. So thank you, Hon!) I drove around looking for a gigantic«Filling Station» sign like the location in Westport, but the sign here is a lot smaller – so watch out for that! I picked up a few things to eat there and some other things to eat while I ran my errands. I easily gulped down a small hot chocolate, which was a lot smaller than I thought it’d be but had a great chocolatey flavor, as I waited for them to make my ham & swiss croissant. I liked how they sliced the croissant and toasted it while microwaving the ham & swiss – it made for a nice, warm sandwich with some crunchy, soft, and gooey textures going on. While on the road I had a cheese danish. The danish part was a bit too thick and dense for my taste and had an odd, overly sweet icing on it, but the cheese had a nice tang. I also drank a Hawaii Trio juice. It completely blew my mind. I loved the flavors of the fruit but it also had a kind of grassy taste about it – I saw some fruit stem/leaves in the drink and I felt that that really added to the taste of the juice. They also threw in some ice cubes, and all together it was just a delicious and refreshing drink. And, for the germaphobes out there like me, I’m a fan of how the workers behind the counter making the sandwich and juices wore gloves. Yay, hygiene! As I write this I’m craving another croissant sandwich and juice. Hopefully I’ll have another reason to be in this part of town again. Did you say I need to look at some dishwashers for the kitchen, Hon? I’ll be on it tomorrow!
