Courtyard Kansas City Overland Park/Convention Center

Hotel is okay. Check in was easy and was here for a convention next door and got that discount as well. Room was nice; king size bed with pull out sofa. Room was clean checked for bugs and clean. Glass cup in room was really dirty though, but did also have disposable cups so that was good. The pull out bed was in bad shape but still usable. Bathroom clean and the rest of the room is clean. New thermostats was also put in and worked great. Another bad thug was the fridge was not plugged in and I had to plug it in, oh also the remote for the tv does not work well the channel down does not work and the channel up was hard to press. Over all ok stay with minor issues.

If you stay here, you’ll get to experience time travel.
When you walk in to the lobby, you’ll be impressed at how large and modern it is. There are multiple areas to sit and get some work done, or have a casual meeting. The furniture is sleek and updated, with higher end finishes.
Enter the elevator, aka time machine.
You are now transported from 2015 to 1995… rooms and hallways are extremely dated. They were still rockin’ the blue chevron carpet and my furniture was beat up. The sofa was bottomed out and encrusted with the grime of 10,000 touches. The room was «clean» so to speak but definitely needed an update — not up to Courtyard standards for sure. No outlets at the bedside either :(
Staff is really friendly — that bumps them up from a 2 to 3 for me.
Otherwise, there’s lots of other hotels nearby — no compelling reason to stay here unless you absolutely have to.

As a Gold Marriott member I expect a certain level snd this hotel didn’t meet my expectations. My lick in my room would take 15 swipes of the card ir more. Didn’t get any form of upgrade but my room apparently is near kitchen vent and I am sixth floor smelling food wafting into my room and actually makes my eyes water. Get room at opposite end if hotel from restaurant. Interbet upgrade at $ 4.95 which us free for me was not upgrade. Bandwidth tests show it is baduc speed and buffers watching my Netflix. I wouldn’t choose this hotel for the price when I am in the area next time.

I stayed here last month and my bed had bed bugs. I had bites all over my left back shoulder. I reported this after I saw my doctor and they conducted a room inspection after the fact. I never heard back from hotel and no one from Marriott has done anything to compensate me (points, free room night, etc.) for my trouble. To me this is very poor customer service.
Because of this, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone

I booked my mom and granny at this hotel for 3 nights and they really enjoyed their stay! Since I wasn’t able to join them, I was put at easy when they called and were bragging about how well I did in my choosing! :)

The hotel is not one of the newer renovated Courtyard hotels and does not have a restaurant/​bar in the lobby. The nearest restaurant is ½ mile away, however it’s an easy walk (if nice weather) and the hotel has shuttle service. The rooms are outdated. Front desk service is nice and accommodating, however for the Courtyard brand, its on the low end of the Courtyard suites.

Very nice, clean Courtyard. The lobby is the new style Courtyard and there’s a large dining area. Free parking and good location.

We have stayed at this location several times before and have had favorable experiences but this time out stay was far less than stellar. We stayed on the 4^th floor and upon exiting the elevator, the hall was noticeably warm. As soon as we opened up the door to our room, it smelled stale and perhaps as if someone had smoked in it. Our first response was to ask if we could get a new room, but thought perhaps once we turned on the ac the situation would correct itself. We ran a quick errand and when we returned, it hadn’t. One side of the room (close to the bed) even smelled like body odor. There was hair on the bed, a few in the shower and dead bugs in the bathroom. Even though we consistently stay with Marriott when we travel, I don’t see us returning to this location.

Great location, east to get to and well located. This is a great Marriott property and well taken care of. Do not miss using the hot tub and pool.

Nicer Courtyard with a great location. Close to hwy and walking distance to convention center. Huge lobby with friendly and attentive staff. Nice big flat screen tv’s in the rooms but no HD? Boy am I spoiled.
