A horrible experience every time! Produce is lacking and often out of stock on regular items– strawberries, green beans. Lines for NO reason since so many employees are standing around. Why not open every self-checkout line?

This dump is simply«a necessary evil» of living in my(sh-tty) part of Ossining. Poorly stocked, slow lines(where are all of the employees?!), a predominantly incompetent staff(there are however a few very nice and helpful employees), and kinda dirty. I don’t trust their produce. C-Town in Ossining(or in Tarrytown) is a much better, nearby option.

This stop & shop makes me miss the dirty, junkie filled Grand Unions. The people working here are absolutely the rudest on the planet. I did self checkout and I noticed how the girl working the self checkout counter just stands there and doesn’t help bag your groceries or even smile. I looked up at her a few times and she just has a stank look. Same goes for every other cashier and person working in there. Don’t bother bc even though YOU are the customer, and it’s THEIRJOB to assist… It’s far too much of a task. Beware of the deli bc I’ve gotten bad food over half a dozen times: chicken that tasted like plastic, cheese that was clearly starting to replicate, and egg salad that was hard. Gross. Why do I keep shopping here!!!

It used to be much better and that’s what makes this review challenging — quality is down from produce, deli and meat departments. Dairy and other items are expired and still on shelves. Staff drastically reduced. Never enough registers open. Prices are not even competitive. The only reason I would shop here now are convenience and hours. Is that enough? You be the judge. I’ll go to the farmers market for what I can.

This Stop and Shop has gone down hill fast. In the last couple of years, it has become dirty and poorly-staffed. Twice, I’ve bought two-packs of steak in which one of the two was so old that it stunk up my house. The«packed on» dates on the ground beef labels are two or three days AFTER the current date. Frozen food is iced up and clearly re-frozen. Are they turning off the freezers at night to save money? The latest insult to the customer is their deli counter. There is a self-service kiosk in which you can place your order and come back later to pick it up(to avoid waiting for the understaffed slicing crew, usually 1 person, to finally get to your number). But recently, they moved the pick-up bin to behind the counter so that you must now wait for a slicer to finish a task so that he can get your order and hand it to you. That demonstrates management incompetence about as well as any of the many other defects in this store. So now, whenever possible, I buy food at C-Town and A and P when I am on errands in the surrounding area. I’m tired of being insulted by this place.

I hate to knock a local business but seriously– ONE(1) cash register open for a dozen people with full carts? Again? Shame on management, not just for making paying customers wait too long, but for hanging a bunch of kids out to dry with seemingly no one over the age of 19 or 20 who could explain to us why the place is a shambles. The managers either hide behind those reflective windows or are off premise entirely.

I have shopped at this supermarket since its inception. I am concerned about the way they keep the lobsters. Yesterday, the entire tank was filled with live lobsters piled up seven deep, and they were moving desperately to stay alive. No animal should be forced to live in these conditions.

I have to admit that because the location is so close by, I am there more than I’d like to be. They seem to be going more downhill everyday. The vegetable section is pathetic and has expired dates on Items all the time. I rarely buy fish — but the few times I have, it’s been fine. The attitudes of the people who work there are terrible. I have personally helped several people find things because they were new to the market and had no one else to ask. If the Ctown were closer, I’d go there more often for fresher veggies and fruit!!!

If you like trader joes or whole foods here is not for you. They do not carry a lot of organic food. Their price is really low. Their meet is not good. They are not very better taste.

I only use the place for non food items… fish areas still stinks… workers standing around talking or «looking busy»…where are the managers? A recent visit… To my surprise. .A worker said hello and asked if I needed help… maybe the store is changing for the better… maybe people started calling the corporate number. .thinking positive..

I had high hopes for this store bc from the outside, it doesn’t look too bad. I was a little weary when I saw the lot was pretty empty on a Sat afternoon and my fears were confirmed by the smell that hit me when I walked through the door. The produce area was a mess and the selection of organic produce was sad. Their organic baby lettuce is more expensive than whole foods’. The ice cream in the freezer section was all covered in thick ice, making me think it had defrosted and froze more than once. Here’s to hoping WF, Fairway or Stew Lenards takes this place over.

I am so tired of the attitude and incompetence at this store. Every time I go to customer service with a problem they are completely unhelpful. I called the manager today and he got on the phone and treated me like I was wasting his time. Yes, the store is big and the location is convenient but for me it is all about customer service. The Ossining Stop&Shop has a lot to learn about that.

The new Stop and Shop in Ossining is much, much better than the one in Tarrytown. For that reason, I shop here quite a bit. It is generally clean, well stocked and orderly. It does, however, suffer from the same poor customer service as every Stop and Shop I’ve ever been to. Someone at Stop and Shop Headquarters(wherever that is) really needs to address their poor customer service– all the people that work there seem to absolutely hate it. They need some«funner» managment or something! I love the new handheld scanners they have here! I feel like other people think it is a gimmick but it’s not! The device will keep track of how much you are spending and give you special deals on stuff you like to buy. Plus, while it is annoying to bag while you shop, it is SO nice at the end to just scan a barcode and pay without waiting to bag everything. I hope this program continues.
