Schuylkill Country Club

Came up here this past weekend for the GAP matches and was impressed. The course is in very good shape. Fairways, greens are all in very good condition, a couple tees are a little wavy but that happens with time. I was fortunate to not hit into any bunkers during my round but they looked perfect and there are many!
A couple of the greens are a bit silly, and the great members that we played with warned us! #4 being the worst. If the pin isn’t on the front and you don’t hit a perfect tee shot you’re stuck. A cross green putt will traverse 4 – 6 different breaks all along the way. Next time I have that putt, I’ll pitch it and take 3 – 5 of the breaks out of the shot. Overall the greens played fast, with the amount of slope in these greens, you better pay attention to what’s going on, the putts can get away from you quickly!
There is a nice mix of tee shots, uphill/​downhill couple dog legs and some that make you really think about what to do (³⁄₁₈) so pay attention.
The staff hospitality was superb and the food spread was pretty tasty as well. Its a great club with some great members, thanks for having us!

This is the first time I’ve been here and it will be the last. The service was extremely slow and the food was nothing to write home about. I’ve had much better crab cakes at a much lower price!
