One of my favorite walks is on these trails. You can go over the bridge & see the beautiful river! There is a secret spot by where the old bridge used to be that you can find a sandy beach & see where the Carbon & Puyallup rivers join together. In one of my pictures you can see how I was under the old bridge! A very fun walk, great for anyone! If you want to find the secret spot, keep in mind that you’re not technically supposed to be down there.

Quiet, and remote enough to let my terrier run back and forth as my toddler and I walk the trail. Lots of rocks. Not a scenic walk and not very beautiful but long and peaceful.

My review is just for the McMillan trailhead to Orting portion of the trail. For that portion of the trail I’d say it’s pretty awful. You are basically right next to a 55mph highway and at times the road noise made conversation difficult between my companion and I. The car fumes were also noticeable. I guess it’s fine for just getting a workout but if you’re looking for a peaceful nature setting find a different trail — or maybe just not the part of the trail we walked.

I love running here in the fall, the trees are a beautiful color. Watch out for the big banana slugs, furry caterpillars and horse poo! I know that sounds horrible but this place really is a great place for long runs out of the city. I usually start at the McMillan Trailhead heading towards South Prairie and Orting. The first 3 miles are kind of boring(and hot) since you are running alongside the busy road and there really isn’t any shade or much to look at but once you pass the fire station, it’s ON! **Use the toilet at the McMillan trailhead because the one 3 miles away in Orting usually has no TP and can get pretty nasty. There’s also a water fountain on the other side of the park there where you can stretch.
