Old Carolina Barbecue Company

In my assessment, this is the best lunch option in the immediate Orrville area. The sweet smell of wood smoke hits you as soon as you walk in the door. The pulled pork is very tasty, though it can be a bit on the overly dry side. This is easily remidied with their excellent sauces. I particularly like the classic and the screaming beaver (spicy). The side are all very good as well, particularly cornbread, vinegar slaw, and the baked beans. Overall, a good solid counter service style barbeque place.

I ordered a platter with pulled pork sandwich a chicken breast and beef brisket and I also got a side of fries. The pulled pork sandwich was the star, which in the chicken breast was okay, but the beef brisket and the fries were a huge letdown! If I returned I probably would just stick with the pulled pork sandwich and maybe some fries which my mom loves but mine were cold and seem like I got the bottom of the barrel. O and I love Cheerwine and that may be the other reason I will return.

My first time at Old Carolina BBQ will prob be my last. We went after work around 530pm. The place wasn’t very crowded at all. After looking at the menu I decided I wanted the chicken breast platter. So we go to the counter to order. The girl taking orders told us there would be a wait for chicken. Ok so I just told her to give me the today special (beef brisket sandwich + one side) She said sorry but our specials end at 4 o’clock. Jeez. Really. Strike 2. She said I could still get the sandwich (for something like 5.99 I think) with a side I’d just have to pay an additional $ 2.99 for the side. Plus another $ 1.69 or something for a drink. Wow. Ok. So we paid and she said we can go find a seat and they will call the number circled on our receipt when our food is ready and bring out our food or we can come back up and get it. Ok. We start to go to sit but then have to turn around and ask here for our drink cups. Another typical teenager who can’t do a simple job properly. So we get our drinks and sit and wait on our food. The food was ok. Their choices of BBQ sauces weren’t. Long story short, I wasn’t impressed much with Old Carolina BBQ and won’t be going back.

Amazing place for some good food. I live in South Carolina and this had better food than some of the places back home. My coworker from SC agrees.
I had the Texas combo; ribs and brisket, creamy cole slaw, and baked beans. I enjoyed every bite. I tried all of their sauces (4) and liked each one as well.
My only complaint, you ask? There’s not one back home!
I suggest stopping in for a hearty dinner. It will definitely be the biggest meal of the day if you get a rib combo.
