$ 325 for 8 hour boat rental is their least expensive rental(for some cheap deck boat)! That’s insane. Apparently they took over the business and jacked the prices to the sky. We’ll go to some Shasta and rent a boat cheap boat for half that price. Too bad – my wife really like Lake Oroville.

Ok so I went here with a group of friends on a Friday afternoon. My friend had his boat docked here and they chained it up for some misunderstanding between the owner and him. The person who chained it up must have been stupid as hell because all they did was wrap the chain so all we had to do was unwrap it and we were off. No more than five minutes later the lake officers pull up behind us with their megaphone asking us to turn around. The guy reported the boat stolen! Long story short, we had to take the boat to another lake, didn’t get to go back out on the lake(mostly because my friend was mouthy to the cop) and got a fine. Sucks. I will give it two stars just because the beauty of the lake bumped it up from one star.

Listen to «Redneck Yacht Club» by Craig Morgan to understand what my childhood consisted of. Yes, I did wakeboard but it was combined with rednecks. NorCal is awesome and one of a kind. «Fun Time Full Time»

Compared to other marinas, this is not the fanciest ever, but for nostalgic reasons, it gets bumped up. I love the lake people(we call them Palermo people) — they’re trashy and friendly and fun. Mostly. They make for fun stories at the very least. Lake Oroville has been a family camping destination for as long as I can remember and I do believe it’s where I first got up on a single ski, but definitely not where I first got up on a wakeboard. There are great narrow areas where you can dock and climb up to explore waterfalls when you stop for lunch. I found big old salamanders or newts or something last time. Please don’t start going here though since the more of you out on the water means the choppier it is which is crap for skiing which means that I get woken up at 7 am to go out in the cold water to take advantage of early morning glass, no matter how late we were up around the campfire the night before. Although then it just means my dad gets to laugh hysterically when he finally knocks us off the innertubes he’s been whipping us around on behind him. He’s a bit crazy really.
