We were driving through town and decided to stop here for a quick lunch. Our server was OK. I ordered a burrito but forgot to ask for the sour cream to be left off, oh well my fault. The bigger issue was my carnitas was extremely fatty. I cam across sever large chunks of fat that were really quite gross. My husband was happy with his enchiladas. The food was meh and the service the same.

They have great food, great drinks, and great service. There are $ 2 well drinks after 9 pm and it draws my friends and I there often. They work hard and always have chips and salsa on the table. Most of the staff are very nice and prompt.

Mexican food is my absolute favorite and as a native of the American southwest, I have had my share of incredible Mexican food. If I was judging this place against anything back home, it wouldn’t get a very high rating. However, I am giving Margaritas it’s rating based on it being in Maine because it is nowhere near the Mexican border so expectations can’t be set too high. That being said, Margaritas is pretty alright. It is not terrible and if you are looking for Mexican food in Orono, it may be the best option(except if you want Chipotle style, Verve across the street is pretty good). I went for the ‘All You Can Eat’ taco Tuesday deal with a big group of people and for only $ 8, it is a killer deal, especially for college students. The first plate comes with rice and beans and you can keep ordering sets of 3 tacos until you are done. They even let you order an extra plate to take home!

Great food for a chain, and awesome margaritas(better be with the name). Service has always been good at this location and the wait staff is very friendly. My recommendation is if you plan on drinking more than one margarita to just buy a pitcher, oh and the grilled shrimp tacos are great.

I’ve eaten here a million times. Best margaritas on the planet. Most people love the Russelrita but it’s a little too sweet for me. It has a college town feel and the decorations are authentically Mexican. The food is okay! Try to sit upstairs or in the basement dining rooms. The servers on the bar level normally have too many tables to be able to keep up. Note: Wednesdays are 2 for 1 college night. Make sure you have your college ID. The Orono location is a lot better than the Augusta location.

This is perhaps the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. Never try their fish taco; it is very dry and inedible. One of their lager beers from the tap that I had tasted like soap. Their enchilada is not a whole lot better either. And the place is way overpriced for what they serve. The service is good though.

When I was visiting my parents in Bangor, their friends insisted that we try this place. My dad is a big fan of Mexican food, so we decided to give it a try. When we arrived, they seated us at a round table, which was uncomfortable for 5, so we asked to be moved to a long table. They were very accommodating with that request. When our server arrived at the table, my dad asked her if she was Hispanic. She said she was not. He asked her if the chefs were Hispanic. She said that they were also not. My father then questioned the authenticity of the food, to which she replied, «They went through a full training in Mexico though!» I’m sure they did. Pleasantries aside, it took my server fifteen minutes to bring me water, and that was after I asked the second time. This went on throughout the night. She also was not very knowledgeable on food, as she found it difficult to recommend anything. She also did not know the difference between the various alcoholic beverages and/or the foods they offered. The food finally arrived after an extremely long wait, and it was meh. You could tell that it was very Americanized, and the servings were much smaller compared to a majority of the Mexican restaurants I have been to. The margarita I would not recommend. Overall, meh.

So glad to have some fantastic guacamole in downtown Orono! They were willing to mix me a delicious margarita without a lot of sugary mix as well, that was a huge plus for me!

We had a great waitress and a great time! Tried the baised beef tacon on the new summer menu. It was delicious! T had the 3 different seafood tacos and loved those as well. Our waitress was sweet and attentive while also being funny and quick. Great time!

I love this place. I loved it as a college student; now I love it as a mom. Sign up for the birthday club and it us the perfect place to celebrate. Who doesn’t want a song, a sombrero, and a chocolate covered fried ice cream? Yes, save room for dessert, it is worth it! Wednesdays are 2 for 1 college night. Now that I’ve finally graduated, I go for other special days. My kids love Cinco de Mayo there in the early dinner time when they get plenty of attention, sombreros, beads, and wax sticks for making stuff(creative kid toy!). Also, it is hard to find a place that can accommodate dairy free dessert, but they have a kid size fruit smoothie that they like. Bonus for kids, the Orono park is behind the fire station across Main street. Take your dessert to-go and let the kids run themselves out!

Great atmosphere and top notch food. Servers and bartenders are good. Some of my best college memories were at Margaritas. It was the local«Cheers» for me and my friends. I enjoy the frosty tall beers that they serve and of course the margaritas. Chimichangas are also excellent.

Although the blood orange margarita looked pretty in the menu, not much taste as a blended drink, and pricey for what you get. First time I ever had veg quesadillas that were stuffed with spinach! They were fine, slathered with salsa, but I thought paying $ 12.50 for them was too much for what I got.

I’ve been a steady customer of Marg’s since moving to Maine in 2001. No matter how many times we go, my wife and I never tire of it. We come here at least every other week, but are often in a couple days during any given week for happy hour specials. You just can’t beat the fresh hot chips or the salsa(some of the best salsa anywhere, IMO). The food is excellent and the drinks are excellent. The service is pretty good(I think they do the best they can, considering the college crowd in Orono). All in all, this place is always worth the visit. If you leave hungry, it’s your own fault.

The food and service is no longer the excellent quality it was. Our meals arrvied barely warm, and the steak was tough. Servings are smaller. We asked for a double serving of rice and did not get a double serving, and the margaritas were not as good as usual.

The Margaritas(drink) themselves are very good. They provide free corn chips and salsa that is very good. That is about where it ends. I have a very hard time getting excited about the food. I usually leave feeling ripped off. The Mexican here is very uninspiring, regular sized portions, with lots of lettuce as filler on the plates. I have had mixed service, and often the food has come out late, and a bit cold.

Like other reviewers, the food here is decent, but certainly not the Mexican food I long for after living in Southern California for 30 years. The beans are overly seasoned when eaten as a side dish, but I appreciated the seasoning when put into my steak(well seasoned, tender) chimichanga with the zesty cheese sauce. The enchiladas are acceptable, but not gooey-cheesy enough for my taste and the red-onion garnish on top was not something I appreciated as the taste and texture contrast was too pungent. I enjoyed the thin, crispy & warm tortilla chips and the salsa had some good spice. The service each time has been excellent, attentive and willing to offer recommendations. The margaritas are tasty and their Thursday Ladies Night 40% Off offer is not to be passed up if you’re in the area. The prices are otherwise on the high-end for Mexican restaurants in my experience. In my quest to find good Mexican food in Maine(and in the Bangor area), this is the best I’ve found so far, though my quest continues.

I am from Texas and I am a Mexican food snob. This is a great place for drinks, meet friends and get a little rowdy. This is NOT a place to eat. While you may refill the salsa and chips, you won’t be coming back for more food. Mexican food is supposed to be inexpensive, at Margartia’s it is not and Mexican food is supposed to be fresh, at Margarita’s it is not. Sorry Margarita’s, I have had a lot of fun here, but it wasn’t because of the food.

yum! I usually hate mexican food but I love this place! The russelrita is AWESOME! I get one every single time I come here! They have a jukebox on the wall, TVs to watch the game on, and lots of seating. The middle floor is where the bar is and where most of the college crowd hangs out at. The downstairs is more quiet and the upstairs is like a normal restaurant. I love the veggie enchiladas, avocado cheese crisp, and Aztec shrimp. Great place for dinner or late night to hang out with friends. The staff is usually awesome and on top of their game. The atmosphere is really chill but on weekends it picks up with loud music and lots of people.
