In my opinion the best sushi place in tucson(better then Ginza, Sushi on oracle, Ra etc). Nigiri is amazing especially the salmon, big pieces of fresh fish that just melts in your mouth. The special rolls are great and they never skimp out on fish in your rolls(like sushi garden or Ra). Even the rice is amazing. The service sometimes is a little slow but they got better with that as well in recent month.

Visiting from NC and this is the BEST sushi restaurant we have been to… Maybe the best ever! The sushi is very fresh and high quality. The nigiri portions are huge! And the staff is so sweet. The owner clearly takes pride in his restaurant, and it shows!

The food here is consistently excellent– there is SO much more than sushi here as well. It is more like a Chinese restaurant with excellent sushi. I ordered chicken lo mein tonight and it never disappoints. The miso soup is delicious, you can’t go wrong!

Nigiri pieces are HUGE! and so delicious. Albacore, salmon, and spicy scallops were all great. You get miso with it. It isn’t the cheapest but it is definitely worth it. The service was good and always is quick. Ive been at all times of the day. Always on par. Never been disappointed with a meal here. Rolls were great too.

Great sushi. Try the volcano. Way better sushi here than sushi on oracle. Chicken lo mein was also very good. Manager is very nice and service was excellent.

Had lunch at Sushi Valley today, we’ve been there maybe a half-dozen times now. Had the best anago(eel) nigiri I’ve ever had — it was perfectly cooked and moist. Had several rolls all of which are great. The nigiri are a good news/bad news story. The good news is the portions of fish are VERY generous, much more substantial than most places I’ve been. The bad news is, at least today, the rice did not hold together when I picked it up with my chopsticks making it impossible to eat in two bites. In many sushi places I just wolf down a whole nigiri, they are small enough, but at Sushi Valley they are just too big to eat in one bite. I’m afraid I made a bit of a mess! The staff is very courteous and helpful. I did have to flag down the waitress after we were done to get our check — she seemed to have forgotten to deliver it even though I was waiting with my wallet in my hand for quite a while. Overall I am very happy with the restaurant — we need to go here more often particularly for lunch since we live in OV.

Went here for lunch on a Friday. The Popcorn Lobster Roll was amazing. It is definitely worth a try. The service was average, especially considering hardly anyone was in there at 11:30AM. I will return to try another«specialty» roll.

Not a fan I’m sorry to say. The gyoza were soggy and not well made. The egg rolls had an off-flavor that I really can’t put my finger on. The rolls were okay, but pricey for what you get. I’m afraid it was a one-time thing for me.

Hard to nail this one down. This is my third time here and I still don’t know what will happen when I go. Bottom line, good enough to come back but read on. The sushi is good. The place is clean and smells clean. I know seafood and fresh seafood smells slightly briny, this place does. If it smelled like fish is an absolute deal breaker for me. Miso soup is very good. Chicken terriyaki is good. Tempura is a bit heavy for me but you can tell that the oil they cook it in is clean. Sushi is very good. Service, hmmm. … the first time I tried the place I went on a Friday night. The place is not real big and it was full but folks were leaving so I figured I would wait for a spot. Wait I did, four to five minutes for a table to be cleared, then five more for a menu and sushi list, then ten more and no water, no one to take an order. We looked around and one other couple was in nearly the same boat. They got glasses of water, but they were empty, long ago consumed. In the meantime plenty of folks came and went with their takeout. I left hungry and thirsty 30 minutes later. The second time at three on a Saturday was fine. Service good. Food good. Special sushi rolls were creative and delicious. Third time on a Sunday night at eight, an hour before posted closing time and they were closing early. They did take care of me and made me food for carry out. The takeout sushi was good. This seems to be a family owned/run place. I haven’t asked, but the same kids were there helping and/or doing homework each time, same woman running the front. Seem like nice folks, and there are plenty of smiles all around. I guess if you go with a small town attitude and you usually cheer for the small business woman/man/family, than this is your place. If you come here having recently lived in L.A. and Seattle and expecting similar big city service then it is a little off. If you can slow down to Tucson time then I think you will be happy. I will be back. The sushi is good.

The food was ok. But the service was terrible. We waited for 30 minutes after our meal was done before we could flag down someone to bring the check. Mind you there were only 3 dinners in the restaurant at the time. The sushi roll was covered in sauce and that overpowered the flavor of the fish. The orange chicken was just fried chicken strips very slightly breaded smothered in a thick sweet sauce.

I decided to try a new place to get sushi, so I ordered the Philly Roll, Rainbow Roll, and California Roll for take out. The miso soup was okay. Not fantastic, but not bad. The sushi pieces were cut pretty large, some just way too large to fit comfortably in your mouth. Additionally, I don’t think the Cali Roll or Rainbow Roll were rolled very well, as when I tried to use chopsticks to pick them up, the bottom would fall out and it would completely fall apart. I ended up abandoning the chopsticks and using a fork. The crab they use tastes sort of weird, and I usually love imitation crab. The Philly Roll was okay, but not great. To be honest, I only ate a couple pieces of the California Roll before I abandoned it. The Rainbow Roll I was pretty unimpressed with. I would personally steer clear and look elsewhere. I’ve found a couple sushi places I enjoy, although my favorite doesn’t do take out. I tried this place before it had decent reviews, but I honestly couldn’t believe it was so bad for the good reviews it has. I definitely won’t ever be going back.

The service and the owner was extremely nice and were really friendly. Great service, but the sushi was not impressed at all. We tried out the squid salad and the yellowtail belly was ok. So we end up run back down to our usual place for our sushi.

26-Apr 2015 — Still a good restaurant. The fish is still as fresh as can be and the cuts are still oversized and downright yummy. One thing I’ve noticed today, the older male who usually makes the sushi is now leaving it to his wife. Nothing wrong with that as far as my own preferences go, in fact she makes some good sushi… but now that she is also doing the prep work, the salmon slices seemed somewhat thinner than the usual super thick slices. I hope this was just a fluke because the way I see it the quality of fish and the oversized cuts is what sets Sushi Valley apart from the competition! I wonder if they read these reviews. Will be checking back in a couple of days.

Always a good place for fresh and unique sushi rolls you can’t find anywhere else in Tucson. I have been here a handful of times and have always left full and satisfied. As others have commented, their sushi is fresh and the sashimi is almost twice as big as other restaurants. Their other cuisine is usually tasty as well, except for the Phở. If you’re looking for good Phở, try Miss Saigon or Phở #1. They have daily lunch specials to round out their menu as well. I usually grab a lunch special with a sushi roll or two and can escape for around $ 20.

SOOOO good! Every piece of sushi we had was delicious!* WE had 3 rolls, 2 specially rolls ~pink lady and Oro Valley roll~ and 5 orders of Nigiri. Portions are big* Hands down BEST sushi we’ve had in town. So fresh *asked where he got his fish … Showed me the shrink wrapped fish he gets straight from Japan!*, great service and so friendly… We sat at the bar *ALL6 of us* sushi chef was super friendly and so generous. Gave me samples of sushi that I said I didn’t care for from other places… And now I just love! Every piece was beautifully crafted! He’s a master of his craft. Truly a great dining experience! Will be back very soon. *** By the way they deliver!!! As long as your within 5 miles or restaurant and purchase at least $ 25. What sushi place does that?! Awesome! *** MUST try the ice cream! 4 flavors to choose from… Green Tea, Red Bean, Mango and Strawberry. Come as little balls with a chewy gel coating. Delightful! Group favorite was Red Bean! But all of them were so very good, can’t go wrong!

The food here is OK. I would not rate it as over the top but on the other hand not poor tasting either. If there is such a thing as the exact middle of the road this is it. We had a shrimp and vegetable tempura, miso soup, salad, pot stickers and a bowl of some kind of noodle soup. The service was good. A little slow at times and they were not busy but it wasn’t bad. Again just middle of the road. I would eat here again if I wanted Japanese food as this is pretty much it for the local area. For the Chinese menu they have I might just go elsewhere. I will however be using them for delivery.

I wasn’t from the area and was looking for a promising sushi spot for dinner. Judging by my options I didn’t have many based on the very few reviews there were for the entire area. I decided to try this place out by the reviews and what I was closest to. The place is quite small, about nine tables with a small bar. My waitress was nice and sincere though with lack of proper English I didn’t mind. I ordered a caterpillar roll, avocado roll and a spicy salmon roll. First off, the sushi was expensive but I should’ve known since I’m spoiled by living on the west coast concerning fresh fish. Also there weren’t many options with rolls or makis. The caterpillar roll was prepared wonderfully, the eel was soft and tender instead of crispy and overcooked. The spicy salmon roll was delightful. I was skeptical with it being almost $ 7 for just a salmon roll but it was a good choice. My avocado roll looked like it was stuffed but realized there was also too much rice, even double rolled. I didn’t enjoy that too much. And the spicy mayo was not good to me at all. I’m sure the place has other great options but there weren’t many. I don’t see myself coming back but it seems to be doing great for the particular area.
